Sitaare Zameen Par worldwide box office collection day 1: Aamir Khan film beats Kesari Chapter 2, falls behind Sikandar

Sitaare Zameen Par worldwide box office collection day 1: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan made his return to the screen after three years with Sitaare Zameen Par, following the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. Despite receiving positive reviews from audiences, the film had a slow start at the box office. It has surpassed the collection of Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2 but still trails behind Salman Khan's Sikandar. (Also Read: Salman Khan jokes Aamir Khan first offered Sitaare Zameen Par to him: 'Tab iska paperwork pe kaam chal raha tha') Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par takes a slow start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, Aamir's film earned ₹ 10.7 crore on day one of its release at the domestic box office. With ₹ 12.85 crore India gross and ₹ 7.15 crore overseas collection, the film's total worldwide collection now stands at ₹ 20 crore. The numbers are slightly underwhelming for an Aamir Khan film, especially considering his last release Laal Singh Chaddha, which failed commercially, still opened to ₹ 11.70 crore in India and ₹ 23.85 crore worldwide. However, the film has managed to surpass the day one haul of Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ananya Panday's film Kesari Chapter 2, which collected ₹ 15 crore worldwide. Yet, it fell behind Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 ( ₹ 25.70 crore) and Salman Khan's Sikandar ( ₹ 26 crore). The film is expected to see a jump in numbers owing to the positive audience response. About Sitaare Zameen Par The sports comedy-drama is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film stars Aamir as a basketball coach who is tasked with training a team of neurodivergent people for a tournament. The film also features Genelia D'Souza. The film introduces 10 debutant actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, and Aayush Bhansali. The ensemble cast also includes Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Ankita Sehgal. An excerpt from Hindustan Times' review of Sitaare Zameen Par reads, 'The first half is slow and tests your patience. Aamir being angry with his new role, getting to know his special team, then struggling in his marriage with Sunita (Genelia Deshmukh) — there's a lot that eats up screen time and feels like lazy writing. There's the occasional laugh — pretty much what one saw in the trailer. The intermission point too isn't on a high. You settle into your seats after this, ready for a yawn-fest. But this is exactly when Sitaare Zameen Par miraculously finds its groove.'

Box Office Trends: Sitaare Zameen Par set for an EXCELLENT jump on second day; Aamir Khan starrer gains momentum

After opening at Rs 10.50 crore on Friday, the Aamir Khan led Sitaare Zameen Par is showing a solid jump in business on the second day. According to very early trends, the film is looking at a 80 percent jump in collections on Saturday, with business expected to be in the range of Rs 18.50 crore to Rs 19.50 crore. There is an outside chance of hitting the Rs 20 crore mark too, but that would depend on how far the occupancies go towards the evening and night shows. As on 3 PM on Saturday, Sitaare Zameen Par has collected Rs 7.90 crore on Saturday, showcasing a 100 percent jump over Friday. For those unaware, the collections in the national chains on Friday at 3 PM stood at Rs 3.80 crore. The figures include advances for evening and night shows, which means that the final jump could settle in the range 80 percent. There is a chance of the film retaining the same jump too, as there are enough shows and screens for it to explode in the evening shows. The Saturday jump puts Sitaare Zameen Par in a very strong spot to emerge a success, and on track for an opening weekend in the vicinity of Rs 55 crore. The jump also indicates appreciation in the cinema-going audience, and again brings to notice the importance of genuinely good cinema in the post pandemic world. The presence of a superstar like Aamir Khan is pushing the word of mouth faster, and taking the film to a wider than usual audience for the genre, which is also reflecting in the business. A jump in the vicinity of 80 to 100 percent is there in non-national chains like Rajhans and MovieMax too, and this is a positive sign for the film to record a trend in the long run. An urban film usually sees a jump in the vicinity of 50 to 60 percent, but Sitaare Zameen Par, has gone off the roof in terms of percent of spike, and this is the first sign of the film beginning to establish itself to break out in the long run. If the film trends like Super 30 from hereon, an entry in the Rs 150 crore seems locked, whereas the day-on-day trend of Chhichhore could take it closer to the Rs 200 crore club. These are still estimates based on early trends, and the final business could be marginally higher or lower depending on the performance in evening and night shows. Sitaare Zameen Par Day Wise Business Saturday: Rs 19.00 crore (Expected) Total: Rs 29.50 crore Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates!

Kuberaa: Dhanush And Nagarjuna's Film Sold To THIS Ott Platform For Rs 50 Crore, Deets Inside

Last Updated: Dhanush and Nagarjuna's social thriller Kuberaa has reportedly sold its OTT rights to Amazon Prime Video for ₹50 crore, one of the biggest digital deals of 2025. Sekhar Kammula's social thriller Kuberaa hit theatres on June 20 and has been on a steady upward climb since its release. Starring an ensemble cast led by Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Jim Sarbh, the film has garnered widespread appreciation from both audiences and critics, with social media buzzing about its performances, storyline, and relevance. The film's success hasn't just been limited to the box office. Kuberaa has also sparked significant buzz around its digital release. According to a report by OTT Play, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for a staggering ₹50 crore. This makes it one of the biggest OTT acquisition deals in recent times, a testament to the film's strong appeal and the star power of both Dhanush and Nagarjuna. Interestingly, one of the film's producers recently revealed that Amazon was firm about the June 20 release date, allegedly warning of a ₹10 crore cut from the agreed-upon deal if the premiere was delayed. The incident underlines a growing trend in the industry where OTT giants now exert considerable influence over theatrical release strategies. Despite modest expectations based on advance booking trends—projected at around ₹7.5 crore—the film surprised trade analysts by pulling in an impressive ₹13 crore on its opening day. Though some considered the figure slightly below par for a multi-starrer of this scale, strong word-of-mouth and positive audience feedback could drive Kuberaa to sustained success in the coming weeks. With its potent mix of gripping narrative, stellar cast performances, and increasing momentum at the box office, Kuberaa seems poised to become both a commercial and streaming success. Fans who missed it in theatres can look forward to its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video following the film's theatrical run. According to News18 Showsha review of the film, 'There's nothing that's surprising with Kuberaa. We have a familiar redemption arc for Deepak. We have seen Neeraj's kind in numerous films by A.R. Murugadoss and Shankar. We've seen the naivety and nobility of Deva too. Hence, it is easy to write off Kuberaa as lacking novelty, and one wouldn't be wrong to do so. But one also has the onus of explaining why the film continues to be engaging despite its predictability. The reason is the solid craftsmanship of Shekar Kammula, who creates brilliant drama despite using familiar scenarios." First Published:
