Country without a soul
India, under Narendra Modi, has descended to its lowliest lows. The civilization of hundreds, nay, thousands of years, has been torn to shreds. The villain of the peace is Modi, an example of human baseness at its zenith. Maha— (a prefix) in Sanskrit means 'great', and Aatma means 'soul'; together the word is Mahatma. Rabindranath Tagore, the poet, philosopher, and Nobel laureate in a letter to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1915 wrote, 'To the one whom India's millions call Mahatma — to him my grateful full homage.' Gandhi was reluctant to accept this honorific title but acquiesced, saying that it meant a reminder to him to serve others. He became an icon of peace and non-violence. From the Mahatma the descent is to the evil headed nincompoop, called Modi. He is a dishonourable antonym for the honorific tittle of Mahatma.
Evil enters like a needle and spreads like an oak tree (an Ethiopian proverb). The Mahatma (M.K. Gandhi) in his Non-Violence in Peace and War had said in 1948: 'Must I do all the evil I can before I learnt to shun it? Is it not enough to know the evil to shun it? If not, we should be sincere enough to admit that we love evil too well to give it up.' Modi, an answer to the Indians and to your own soul, in case it is still alive.
Only when evil increases, does its potential to harm strike the eye. It appears that Stephen Vincent Benet in 'John Brown's Body' is actually describing Modi, the evil, when he says, 'Some men wish evil and accomplish it, but most men, when they work in that machine; just let it happen somewhere in the wheels; the fault is no decisive, villainous knife, But the dull saw that is the routine mind'. honi soit qui mal y pense (shame on him who thinks evil of it). An evil man sees not the same tree as a wise man sees. Modi's Hindutva philosophy is built upon sand dunes. Adventurous men are not necessarily courageous, they are but only small time cowards, and may not be seen as men of principle. Principle knows no forgiveness. They are to be observed and adhered. Expediency can last for a few hours, but principles survive for ages.
Indians, generally speaking, are good people. They are mostly peace-loving. The recent refusal of a Lieutenant-General to do his (Modi's) evil bidding also indicates that the armed forces are also not warmongers or haters. It is purely a Modi phenomenon to spew poison against the minorities, particularly Muslims. He denuded India of its past glory of being a tolerant society. He stabbed to death the 'soul of India', rendering it today as a soul-less country.
With malice he attacked places of worship. Modi is an arch enemy of Islam and Christianity. He destroys their mosques and churches on one pretext or another. Recently, he targeted only mosques in the cities of Kotli, Bahawalpur and Muridke. He is now after the resting place of Emperor Aurangzeb claiming his tomb is built over some imagined, ancient temple.
Modi having massacred Muslims in Gujarat entered the Prime Minister's office with a conscience that was long dead and buried. Indians were misled by his religious doctrine of supremacy of Hindutva, and voted him into power. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke thus: 'He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetuate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.'
Recently, in the short military engagement between India and Pakistan, the world witnessed with humour and laughter how the Indian media tried to create its own climate of opinion. The Indian media stood confused between what is honourable and what is evil? What is lost by them is the fact that there is no such thing as the lesser of the two evils because once the choice is made it still is evil. The media behaved like evil, and was no less than the evil of Modi.
India must remove Modi if it wishes to retain its original character as enshrined in its Constitution to be a secular and democratic state. However, looking at BJP's leadership starting from Modi and ending with Modi's thought and philosophy, I am reminded of Shakespeare's line from The Taming of the Shrew, 'There's small choice in rotten apples.'
Modi is a wolf in a wolf's clothing. How then are the Muslim leadership deluded away from recognising his mindset? Our Muslim brethren in the Middle East warm up to him so dearly. It is time they recognise the devious mindset of the man; any failure to do so will result in a costly learning exercise. A man who has blood on his hands of the angelic small children who were martyred by his deadly missiles can never be a sincere friend to anyone. To the recent belligerent attacks upon several cities in Pakistan our government responded with hitherto unseen maturity and patience. This restraint was being misread by Modi as a sign of some inherent structural weakness in the command and control authority of our political setup and national security apparatus. Only a single day of strong retaliation proved to be a very long time for Modi and his cohorts.
Flustered by this fierce response and retaliation and acting like a retarded pygmy Modi sought ceasefire through the friendly mediation of US and a host of other countries. His acceptance will always remain in doubt. He will find or artificially create conditions like he did on the night of 22nd April in Occupied Kashmir, to wriggle out of his commitment to discuss 'all issues' at a neutral place across the negotiating table. The acceptance of third-party intervention to resolve all outstanding issues must be gnawing away at his peace and sanity. Most would suspect that he will find a reason to revoke the commitment; he is not trustworthy.
The efforts of friends of India alone are not enough to instill sanity and maturity into BJP's leadership; in the end it will be the people of India who must discover the evil, to shun it, and they must help themselves by jettisoning all those who are hell-bent on destroying the rich social fabric that has been in existence for thousands of years upon the soil of the subcontinent. India must go back to its Gandhian and Nehruvian political philosophy of tolerance and peace.
It is expected that Indians will now with the liberty of hindsight see how he misled them into a war hysteria, 'ably' supported by an ever-enthusiastic and hysteria-filled broadcast, digital and print media. The anchors in their frenzy declared Lahore to be a seaport!! Modi has brought shame upon the peace-loving people of India. The time is ripe for all political parties, including the BJP, to go for wholesale jettisoning of this frustrated and politically dead cargo once and for all. Any continuity of Modi and his cohorts at New Delhi foretells the looming disaster of the seven sister states in the North-East of India, who are already seeking independence from the union of India.
The wrong person Lieutenant General Rana who until recently was General Officer Commanding in Occupied Kashmir was banished to the Andaman and must be brought back to the peninsula's capital and the rightly deserving candidate must be sent forth to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal. India and Indians by doing so will restore their lost stature in the comity of nations. A government in Delhi that has no religious rabid Hindu will be a good neighbour to all the countries of South Asia.
The hyena in saffron clothing — Modi — will be enshrined in history as a synonym for both evil and devil. His biography will be the longest suicide note in history.

US says Trump keen to resolve Kashmir issue
US President Donald Trump speaks during a swearing-in ceremony for the new US ambassador to China, former US Senator David Perdue, at the White House in Washington, DC, US on May 7, 2025. Photo: REUTERS Listen to article Pakistan's recent diplomatic outreach in Washington appears to be making headway, as the US Department of State on Wednesday reaffirmed President Donald Trump's stated willingness to engage on the Kashmir dispute. During a White House press briefing, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce responded to a query regarding Trump's potential course of action following his earlier offer to mediate on Kashmir. "So, while I can't speak to his plans, the world knows his nature, and I can't speak to any details of what he might have in that regard," she said, noting that further comment would come from the White House. Bruce stressed the president's track record of initiating unexpected diplomatic dialogues, expressing optimism that progress on Kashmir was not beyond reach. "[Trump] has been the only one to bring certain people to the table to have conversations that nobody thought was possible," she said. "It shouldn't surprise anyone that he'd want to manage something like that," she added. The remarks coincided with a recent high-level Pakistani delegation visit to Washington, led by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Responding to a related question, Bruce confirmed that the delegation met with senior State Department officials, including Under Secretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker. According to Bruce, the discussions centred on bilateral ties, with emphasis on counterterrorism cooperation. "We also know that Deputy Secretary Landau met with the Indian parliamentary delegation last week, and he also reaffirmed the United States strong support of India in the fight against terrorism," she noted. Pakistan has launched a comprehensive diplomatic campaign in the United States to present its viewpoint on the recent escalation with India and to counter New Delhi's expanding lobbying footprint in Washington. The campaign includes outreach to US lawmakers, think tanks, and the media. Foreign Minister Bilawal, who led a nine-member team, visited New York and Washington from May 31 to June 6 before heading to London and Brussels. During the US leg of the trip, he held meetings with over a dozen members of Congress, including both the House of Representatives and the Senate. He also engaged with senior officials at the State Department, where he outlined Islamabad's concerns over India's aggressive posture, threats to the Indus Waters Treaty and incendiary rhetoric from the Modi-led government. Meanwhile, President Trump, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office last week, doubled down on his claim of playing a key role in easing tensions between India and Pakistan during earlier flare-ups. "They don't give me credit for anything, but nobody else could have stopped it," he said.

Armed forces — an acclamation—II
Narendra Modi is seriously suffering from the effects of misadventure and is on fire. He claimed Pakistan begged for ceasefire; he is in fact refuting and repudiating President Donald Trump who, to the contrary, has repeatedly said that he brokered a truce at the behest of keeping South Asia at peace. Indians were shocked by the ferocity of response and ran helter-skelter to stop what could have been greater embarrassment than they faced during those 16 hours. The truce engineered by the US gave Indians a saving grace. But Modi more out of shame says 'it is not over yet'. Describing the toothless operation 'Sindoor', the delusional Modi on last Friday (30thMay) seeking to woo voters blurted boastfully (embarrassingly), 'it was just one arrow from country's quiver. …Our fight…nor has it come to an end'. India is still on a war path. India is sending emissaries to important capitals to damage-control the loss of prestige, loss of misconceived invincibility and the loss of morality. To do this the Modi government is relying on Congress party leader Shashi Tharoor. Armed forces — an acclamation — I He has now lowered himself in global estimation by siding with Modi; hitherto he was seen as an impartial politician/ historian. It is now obvious that deep inside him too resides a bigoted version of Modi, equally dangerous and who without making it overtly obvious subscribes to the Hindutva concept. In a recent interview boasting intoxicatedly, he said, 'the colour of Sindoor will match the colour of blood'. Shashi remains unaware of the power of a martyr's blood; red in colour that can burn the skull when placed in the parted hair. They are literally mocking those women who they widowed in pursuit of adventure. Shame. Our armed forces deserve a salute. In the wake of provocations they remained resolutely steadfast in maintaining grace, restraint and the standards of warfare. Indians mistook our internal political situation as a weakness; little did they realise we may have our domestic political squabbles, but when the territorial integrity of our beloved homeland is challenged, we merge our energies irrevocably to become a formidable bulwark, like the Rock of Gibraltar, against aggressors. We are united as a nation backed by strong and brave armed forces. The advisors to Modi applied schoolboy logic. They (Pakistanis) seem disunited, let's attack Pakistan! What a grave mistake they made. Our army or the entire clan of armed forces deserves accolades for yet again not only defending successfully from the aggressor but also for giving them a run for their money. Literally, just calculate the cost of one Rafale, times five, nay six. Under the able leadership and command of the now Field Marshall, Gen. Asim Munir, after restraint, we proved our capability and capacity. Army in consonance with Air Force and Navy acted together only when the Indian belligerence was getting out of hands. The Air Chief led from the front too, so did the Naval forces. If the press reports be correct, it seems that arising out of uncontrollable hallucinations; India wanted to create a naval blockade for Karachi and to the Gulf. They backed off when they saw our Navy's movements and readiness to engage. They saved their battle ships but not their aircrafts! India must know their war posturing strengthens our nerves and resolve, it sharpens our skills; and our enemy foolishly helps us to make ourselves formidable foe to them. As a tribute to our courageous soldiers, I would like to sing an anonymously written war song during the WW-I; 'O death, where is thy sting- a ling- a ling- a ling, O grave, thy victory? The bells of hell go ting -a- ling, a- ling, a- ling, for you but not for me'. An American proverb is: A singing army and a singing people can't be defeated. The only way Indians can on hindsight win the war is to ask Bollywood to conjure some false story line; with necessary masala, they can commission the holier than the Pope, Javed Akhtar, to write the script, who has openly said and showed preference to be in hell. But isn't that a very comfortable abode for a man of such lowly thoughts and character? Modi, the disguised Tartar, must be put in place by the Indian electorate for being the cause of embarrassment and global humiliation; something India did not suffer even when they were beaten hands down by the Chinese in 1962. Nehru couldn't survive the pain. Generally, Indians are peace loving and Hinduism is as noble as any other religion. Modi has tarnished both. In order to correct the wrong done, the man on the street must voice the sentiments through the ballot box, to repair the damage done. Modi must be shown the door by Indians. The government should not take their eyes off the radar. In a concerted manner and joint efforts, the Field Marshall and other service chiefs must remain alert to any fresh misadventure. Indians would do well if they dislodge Modi, Amit Shah, etc., and all their accomplices (not more than two dozen in a population of over 1.4 billion people) and pack them off to isolation in Andaman Islands or still better make them part of the Bay of Bengal. He must face people's retribution for the harm caused. India continues to be a pad in the straw. We must remain alert. The snake in the grass will raise its head again. 'Heart of Oak our ships, Heart of Oak are our men. We always are ready; steady, boys, steady; we will fight and we'll conquer again and again.' (Hearts of Oak- by David Garrick). They rang the war bells and ended wringing their hands. Armed forces, Zindabad. Pakistan Paindabad. Pakistan rejects Indian minister's remarks
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has categorically rejected the irresponsible remarks made by the external affairs minister (EAM) of India during different media engagements in Brussels. The discourse of top diplomats should aim to promote peace and harmony, rather than producing bellicose punch lines, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement on Wednesday. 'The tone and tenor of a foreign minister should be commensurate with his dignified status,' he added. For last several years, the spokesperson remarked 'India has been engaged in a malicious campaign to mislead the international community through a fictitious narrative of victim hood.' Pakistan rejects Modi's misleading remarks However, Ambassador Khan pointed out 'India's continued anti-Pakistan diatribe cannot hide its sponsorship of terrorism beyond its borders, nor can it cover up the state-sanctioned oppression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Instead of pointing fingers at others, India should introspect on its own involvement in terrorism, subversion and targeted assassinations. 'India must also desist from concocting misleading narratives to justify its recent aggressive actions. Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy. However, it stands resolute in its intent and ability to safeguard its sovereignty against any aggression, as exemplified by its robust response to India's reckless strikes, last month.' The spokesperson elaborated narrative emerging from India betrays sheer frustration, following an unsuccessful military adventure against Pakistan. 'The Indian leaders would be well-advised to improve the standard of their discourse and discard their obsession with Pakistan,' he said, adding the history will judge not by who shouted the loudest — but by who acted the wisest. It is worth mentioning that during his recent visit to Brussels, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar issued a strong warning to Pakistan, stating India's preparedness to conduct strikes within Pakistani territory in response to terrorist provocations. 'We will go deep into Pakistan, India won't hold back now,' Jaishankar said this during his several meetings with EU leaders. He has also accused Pakistan of training 'thousands' of terrorists to deploy them across the border. The EAM's remarks came weeks after Pakistan's befitting response to India's naked aggression on May 7 and 10 respectively. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
