Recent NFL projection may have gifted every Eagles rookie with extra motivation
Five years after Kobe Bryant's untimely passing, his 'Mamba Mentality' still provides quite the intriguing study. It has shifted from attitude to philosophy, a theory shared by Philadelphia Eagles, NBA stars, and even the hardworking men or women at the office.
Most of the general public won't ever drop 81 points in a single professional basketball game. Heck, most NBA stars won't do that. They'll have to find contentment in the building blocks, an unquenchable thirst to be the best at something.
What does that have to do with football, you ask? Well, thank you for asking the question. Though they're young, there may be some baby 'mambas' growing at the NovaCare Complex, and if they're anything like Kobe, they'll do anything to find some added motivation.
They won't have to look too hard. NFL.com just gifted them with a heavy dosage.
An NFL All-Rookie Team projection is embarrassingly void of any Eagles
Gennaro Filice is a deputy editor at NFL.com. He doesn't pick up the pen or pluck keys on the keyboard very often, but when he does, what he offers isn't to be missed. Recently, he tried his hand at projecting the members of the 2025 NFL All-Rookie Team. Not a single Eagle was mentioned. Call it an embarrassment. Call it an oversight. Whatever you call it, if this draft class is what we think it is, it can certainly be viewed as motivation.
Now, everyone could play the devil's advocate. Maybe the theory is that Jihaad Campbell won't be healthy early. Maybe he'll miss too many important snaps. Then again, the thinking could be something else. How about another theory while the wheels are turning?
This is Zack Baun, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Cooper DeJean, Reed Blankenship, and Quinyon Mitchell's defense. They'll be the young leaders Vic Fangio relies upon. Maybe the theory is that Andrew Mukuba and Ty Robinson will be part of a heavy rotation at their respective positions.
That being said, there may not be enough snaps for them to make a case to be placed ahead of early favorites to make the all-rookie team. The argument makes sense. Still, that isn't exciting enough. Most would prefer the more emotion-filled response to NFL.com's projection.
This list is disrespectful. It should be viewed as fuel for the rookie's fire, and this entire season should be treated like a revenge tour. Perhaps, it's off-base, but that's how Mamba Mentality works. Find motivation in everything, even if you have to make up your own. After all, that's exactly the strategy Kobe used sometimes.

'I love hats, I wear hats all the time,' Stroud said with a chuckle. 'It's all about the swag, baby. I'm just kidding.' No, Texans fans, Stroud is rooting for the AL West rivals to move into first place. He mentioned that he pulls for both the Astros and Dodgers and also owns a hat from "probably even team," which backs up the fashion statement theory. Fans probably wouldn't have cared so much if the Astros hadn't just lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night while the Mariners secured a win over the New York Mets. But the hat proved to be a bad omen out at Citi Field and a positive sign for the hometown team. Seattle fell in Queens 3-1. Meanwhile, the Astros gained an entire game in the division with a 5-4 victory over the Orioles. As for Stroud's afternoon? He finished 6-of-8 passing for 44 yards and a touchdown pass to Nico Collins in the first quarter before resting after the first quarter. Ben Rice homers and ties career high with 7 RBIs as Yankees beat Cardinals 12-8
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Ben Rice homered and tied a career high with seven RBIs, Aaron Judge also went deep in his first multi-hit game since the All-Star break and the New York Yankees beat the St. Louis Cardinals 12-8 on Saturday night. Trent Grisham singled four times and scored four runs, and Ryan McMahon hit his first homer since being acquired by the Yankees to overcome a shaky start by Max Fried (13-5). Masyn Winn hit a three-run homer and Nolan Gorman had a two-run shot for St. Louis as Fried yielded multiple homers for the third time this season. Fried notched his 1,000th career strikeout when he fanned Alec Burleson immediately after Winn's second-inning homer, but he exited after yielding seven runs on eight hits in five-plus innings. Gorman's 389-foot blast ended his outing with no outs in the sixth. After two-out infield singles by Winn and Burleson in the ninth, David Bednar entered and induced Iván Herrera to foul out for his 20th save. Sonny Gray (11-6) allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings as St. Louis lost its fourth in a row. Rice had three of New York's 15 hits and finished a triple short of the cycle. Cooper Rush throws TD, pick-six in preseason return to AT&T Stadium as Ravens rout Cowboys 31-13
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Cooper Rush threw a touchdown pass and a pick-6 in his return to AT&T Stadium, and rookie Tyler Loop kicked five field goals as the Baltimore Ravens beat the Dallas Cowboys 31-13 in preseason action Saturday night. D'Ernest Johnson added a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the Ravens (2-0). Loop — expected to replace longtime kicker Justin Tucker, who was released in the offseason following accusations of inappropriate behavior by massage therapists — connected from 53, 52, 42, 36, and 29 yards. He missed once, from 50. Cornerback Andrew Booth intercepted Rush and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. Brandon Aubrey kicked field goals of 47 and 36 yards for the Cowboys (0-2). Rush, who spent seven seasons as Dak Prescott's backup in Dallas before signing with Baltimore in free agency, threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Keith Kirkwood on a fourth-down play early in the second quarter.
