Davante Adams, Puka Nacua both ranked outside top 10 WRs by NFL coaches and executives
ESPN polled talent evaluators from around the league on the top 10 wide receivers and neither Nacua nor Adams made the cut. They both ended up being honorable mentions in a group that includes four other receivers, but they fell short of the coveted top 10.
There's a case to be made for both of them being ranked much higher but for whatever reason, they were snubbed.
One NFL defensive coach was shocked Nacua didn't make the top 10, while an AFC executive said he 'probably doesn't have the high-end ability as some of the others on the list.'
"I can't believe he's not in the top 10. He's just got the 'it' factor." -- NFL defensive coach
If ESPN put the honorable mentions in order by the number of votes players received, that would make Nacua the 12th-best receiver and Adams the 16th-best – both of which are probably too low.
Here is the full top 10 from ESPN's poll.
Ja'Marr Chase
Justin Jefferson
Tyreek Hill
CeeDee Lamb
A.J. Brown
Amon-Ra St. Brown
Malik Nabers
Nico Collins
Mike Evans
Garrett Wilson
One NFL coordinator had this to say about Adams, who was ranked No. 5 just last season in this same poll: 'When you watch him up close, he's still exactly what the classic 'X' receiver should look like."
Since the 2020 season, Adams has caught 59 touchdown passes, the most of any player in the NFL in that span. Since Nacua came into the league in 2023, he's averaged 88.4 receiving yards per game, which is the fourth-highest of any player.
Adams has the ninth-most catches since 2023 and Nacua has the 10th-most – and that's despite both of them playing fewer games than the only eight players with more receptions in the last two years.
After this season, it's possible Adams and Nacua will both vault into the top 10, assuming they're able to stay healthy and reach the high expectations everyone has for them as teammates. Big things could be in store for the Rams' new-look receiving duo.

Marchand gears up for 200m IM world record bid
Leon Marchand geared up for an assault on the 200m individual medley world record Wednesday as he cruised through the heats to start his world championship campaign in Singapore. France's Olympic hero, who won four individual golds at last year's Paris Games, is looking to break Ryan Lochte's 200m IM world record of 1min 54.00sec, which has stood since 2011. Marchand is competing only in the medley events in Singapore and he hinted he would go all out for the record in Wednesday evening's semi-finals. "I'll try to get close to my best time tonight," said Marchand, whose personal best in the event is only six hundredths of a second outside the record. "I want to start faster than usual and see what happens." Marchand clocked the fastest time in Wednesday morning's heats in 1:57.63. Japan's Kosuke Makino was second in 1:57.74, with American Shaine Casas third in 1:57.76. Marchand's biggest rival is more likely to be Lochte's world record, having already taken down Michael Phelps's 400m IM mark two years ago. "It was good, I swam well, I think I pretty much did what I wanted to do," Marchand said after his heat. "There are a few technical details that I'll go over with my coach, things I can improve on for tonight." Summer McIntosh was back in action, finishing fastest in the women's 200m butterfly heat in a time of 2min 07.07sec. The Canadian teenager has already bagged two gold medals in Singapore and she is looking to join Phelps as the only swimmer to win five individual titles at a single world championships. Chinese 12-year-old Yu Zidi joined McIntosh in the semi-finals, coming through in a fifth-fastest time of 2:08.95. Yu finished fourth behind McIntosh in the 200m IM final on Monday. Romania's David Popovici followed up his gold in Tuesday's 200m freestyle final with a fastest time of 47.41sec in the 100m heats. Australia's Kyle Chalmers (47.48) was second, with China's Olympic champion and world record holder Pan Zhanle (47.86) and American Jack Alexy (48.07) also progressing. "I'm the major underdog and the media has made that quite clear in the lead-up to this, that it's a race really between Alexy, Popovici and Pan," said Chalmers, who clocked the same time as he did in the Paris Olympics final, where he claimed silver. "I'm really enjoying being able to fly under the radar." amk/lb

"I think that's weird" - Kyrie Irving claims that Bill Gates owns the majority of the land and water in the United States
"I think that's weird" - Kyrie Irving claims that Bill Gates owns the majority of the land and water in the United States originally appeared on Basketball Network. Dallas Mavericks All-Star guard Kyrie Irving has been a very busy man hosting Twitch streams as of late. Ever since he got hurt, Irving has used the platform to speak out about his thoughts on various topics and issues. In recent weeks, Irving has made interesting comments about his tenure in Brooklyn, his relationship with Kevin Durant and James Harden, the disrespect for Kobe Bryant in the rankings and Stephen A. Smith not deserving of his $100 million contract from ESPN. Most recently, he revealed that Luka Doncic once dropped 24 points in 3 minutes versus Grant Williams in practice. Now, in a complete 180, Irving is claiming that Microsoft founder Bill Gates owns most of the land and water in the United States. "I still think that it's weird that the Gates family, Bill Gates, owns a lot of the land in North Dakota. I think that's weird. He owns majority of the water in the United States, I think that's weird. Whatever. To each his own. This is for information purpose only. But at the same time, when you go to the grocery store and you see some products that are on there that they spray with a bunch of sh–," said Irving. Gates is the largest private owner of farmland in the U.S. It's unclear what the complete context of Irving's statement was because that 30-second clip is the only one that's going around the internet. But as to his claim that Gates owns a lot of land in North Dakota, that is true because in 2022, Potato grower Campbell farms of North Dakota sold 2,100 acres of farmland for $13.5 million to a company called Red River Trust, which has ties to Gates. The deal became a subject of controversy, but Gates' company secured legal approval. As of July 2024, Gates was considered the largest private owner of farmland in the United States with 275,000 acres of property across more than a dozen states in the United States, not just in North Dakota. These land properties are used for growing agricultural products like potatoes, carrots, soybeans, and corn. Meanwhile, author Seamus Bruner provided the likely explanation for why Kyrie said that Bill also owns most of the water in the U.S. "When Gates buys tens of thousands of acres, he is not just buying the land — he is also buying the rights to water below ground. In addition to farms (and the irrigation) and fertilizer, Gates has been hunting for sizable interests in water and water treatment — a crucial component when seeking to control the agricultural industry," Bruner noted in Bill does not control the farmland in the U.S. However, while Gates is the largest private farmland owner in the country, his percentage of ownership of the total farmland in the United States is a mere 0.03 percent of the total 876.5 acres as of 2024. Three years ago, Gates also explained why he has been amassing farmland recently. "I own less than 1/4000 of the farmland in the U.S. I have invested in these farms to make them more productive and create more jobs. There isn't some grand scheme involved — in fact, all these decisions are made by a professional investment team," he said. To be clear, Irving said he only mentioned what he said for informative purposes. But if he was trying to insinuate anything by saying it's weird, all of Gates' transactions are legal, unless you want to come up with a conspiracy theory. But Kyrie left it at that, so let us, story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Jul 29, 2025, where it first appeared.
