Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors: No discussions for Bucks star (report)
As the NBA braces for what's expected to be a busy offseason, there is arguably no bigger name than Giannis Antetokounmpo. There's been plenty of speculation on if Antetokounmpo could end up on the trade market due to the Bucks' current roster situation.
But ESPN's Brian Windhorst threw cold water on the trade rumors. There have already been reports that the Antetokounmpo market has cooled despite rumors, and that appears to be the case.

'Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market,' Windhorst said. 'There is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him.'
Antetokounmpo, 30, is at the height of his powers and put together another stellar season in Milwaukee, finishing third in MVP voting. But the Bucks' roster construction has been a mess recently, plus Damian Lillard's ruptured Achilles tendon added to the franchise's uncertainty.
While the Bucks won the 2021 NBA Finals with Antetokounmpo as the NBA Finals MVP, they haven't made it past the second round since then. They've lost in the first round in the past three seasons and the roster doesn't look ready to compete even with Antetokounmpo putting up MVP-level numbers.
That's where all the trade speculation has come throughout the summer with multiple teams interested in the two-time MVP's services. Naturally, Antetokounmpo would lead to a haul of assets between draft picks and talented players. But it doesn't sound like the Bucks are making him available in trade talks based on the reporting.

Antetokounmpo has voiced how much he enjoys playing in Milwaukee, plus he did bring the franchise its first title since 1971. For now, it's looking like the Bucks will keep their homegrown star while reloading their roster.

WATCH: Giannis Antetokounmpo Slips And Falls During A Dunk Attempt In Brazil
WATCH: Giannis Antetokounmpo Slips And Falls During A Dunk Attempt In Brazil originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is known for his athleticism and powerful, highlight-reel dunks. However, the offseason hasn't been as kind to the star. In a recent video, the Bucks star was seen slipping and falling in a failed dunk attempt during his visit to Brazil. Antetokounmpo was in Brazil as part of an event. With several fans in attendance, the Bucks star was inevitably set to show out. Unfortunately, slippery conditions on the court did not play in his favor. Advertisement While the moment itself would have been considered quite embarrassing, the 2021 NBA champion took it in his stride and walked it off with a smile on his face, a positive indication considering the risk of running up an injury. Needless to say, the Milwaukee Bucks would hope to see their star in good health in the offseason. However, given the kind of interest the forward has garnered due to his decision to engage in trade talks, other teams will be equally invested in his health. Antetokounmpo's pending departure from Milwaukee is one of the biggest talking points of the offseason. Since his announcement, revealing his intentions to leave, several teams have come forward to present a bid for him. From powerhouses like the Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks in the East to Western Conference teams such as the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs, Antetokounmpo has shaken up the landscape of the NBA. Advertisement His unreal averages of 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game see him rated as among the best players in the league. At 30 years old, it is evident that the Greek forward could single-handedly transform any team he joins into a title contender. While the Bucks were rumored to attempt delaying the inevitable, hoping that their star would stay a season longer, the organization has made its decision to engage in negotiations known. Along with this, they also listed their demands, since trading their star would essentially send them into rebuild mode. As things stand, the Bucks are inclined to favor a deal centered around picks and young players to help them kickstart their rebuilding project. Considering their interest in a high draft pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs have garnered the most attention as a likely trading spot. The Spurs have some of the most powerful draft capital reserves in the league. With the No. 2 and the No. 14 picks in the 2025 draft, San Antonio could easily deal away one of these, along with some of their young players, to acquire Antetokounmpo. Advertisement Acquiring the Greek forward would effectively transform the team into a powerhouse. After finishing 13th in the West last season, the Spurs could be in for a massive shift in performance, even emerging as title contenders in the process. New York Knicks Are Prepared To Make A "Tsunami-Type" Trade Offer For Giannis Antetokounmpo
New York Knicks Are Prepared To Make A "Tsunami-Type" Trade Offer For Giannis Antetokounmpo originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Ahead of a potentially historic NBA offseason, the New York Knicks are one of many teams looking to make some major roster adjustments. While their flexibility is still somewhat limited, the latest rumblings out of New York indicate they are preparing to make a seismic trade that could help them land their biggest star since Carmelo Anthony. Advertisement "Could there be a Giannis Antetokounmpo-Jason Kidd reunion in New York? There's a report that the Knicks are asking Dallas officials for permission to speak to Kidd about their vacant head coaching position," wrote league insider Gery Woelfel. "Yesterday, I was told the Knicks are preparing to make a tsunami-type offer to acquire Antetokounmpo from the Bucks. Kidd once coached Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee." Fresh off an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks just had their best season in decades, but it still wasn't enough to satisfy their ambitions. After losing 4-2 to the Pacers, the Knicks know that they need some changes to become a championship-level team, but there is still some uncertainty on what those changes will look like. While some are calling for the Knicks to upgrade their supporting cast and bench, it seems they intend to go the other way instead: trade some of their depth for a franchise superstar. At 30 years old, Giannis Antetokounmpo is still in the prime of his career, and he's a player who can take the Knicks to the next level. With his future in Milwaukee growing increasingly unclear, he has emerged as one of the Knicks' primary trade targets this summer, and it's no secret that he may be connected to their recent pursuit of Jason Kidd. With a package centered around Karl-Anthony Towns, Miles McBride, and the Knicks' 2030 first-round pick (in exchange for Giannis and Pat Connaughton from the Bucks), the trade could work for both teams and take them a step closer to their goals next season. The trade would require major sacrifice and risk for New York, but the potential benefits would be franchise-altering with Antetokounmpo's dominating interior presence next to star point guard and Clutch Player of the Year, Jalen Brunson. Advertisement As the biggest market in the league and a team close to contention, it's no surprise that Giannis has an interest in the Knicks, and there's reason to believe he can be very effective there. With averages of 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in the 2024-25 campaign, Giannis is one of the best in the world, and his impact on the court is made in various ways. As an NBA champion, 9x All-Star, 9x All-NBA player, and 2x MVP, Antetokounmpo has already proven himself as a generational athlete, and that's exactly the kind of player the Knicks need to maximize their title chances. After watching their team come so close, only to fail, the Knicks are eager to move up and join the ranks of the Celtics and Pacers as champions of the East, but the cost will be massive. Giannis, meanwhile, gets to have a fresh start with the Knicks and take his brand to the city of New York. There, he can compete for championships with a chance to make franchise history. It'd be a lucrative situation for Giannis, and it may be his best path forward after continued failures with the Bucks. Retooling The Houston Rockets With Two Blockbuster Trades For Giannis Antetokounmpo And Kevin Durant
Retooling The Houston Rockets With Two Blockbuster Trades For Giannis Antetokounmpo And Kevin Durant originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The Houston Rockets have emerged as a formidable force in the NBA, finishing the 2024–25 regular season with a 52–30 record, securing second place in the Western Conference. Under the guidance of head coach Ime Udoka, who has revitalized the team since his arrival, the Rockets have demonstrated significant progress. Advertisement However, their postseason journey was cut short with a seven-game first-round loss to the Golden State Warriors. This outcome highlighted the need for a true superstar to complement their existing core and elevate the team to championship contention. In pursuit of this goal, the Rockets are reportedly targeting two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant. According to reports, Houston has maintained interest in acquiring Antetokounmpo, while the Phoenix Suns have lowered their asking price for Durant, making a potential trade more feasible. The Rockets aim to build a new "Big Three" by adding these superstars alongside rising star Amen Thompson, who is considered untouchable in trade discussions. Let's dive into how the team can acquire both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant in blockbuster back-to-back deals. The two-time MVP and perennial All-NBA selection would bring elite defense, unparalleled athleticism, and a championship pedigree to Houston. His ability to dominate both ends of the floor would provide the Rockets with the superstar presence needed to compete at the highest level. Advertisement The cost of acquiring Antetokounmpo is significant, involving the departure of promising young talents Alperen Sengun (19.1 PPG, 10.3 RPG) and Jalen Green (21.0 PPG, 4.6 RPG), along with valuable draft picks. However, the opportunity to pair Giannis with Amen Thompson and potentially Kevin Durant could create a championship-caliber core that justifies the investment. Giannis would finally become the franchise star and best Rockets player since Hakeem Olajuwon, dominating both ends of the floor similar to the all-time great center. Udoka will absolutely love making The Greek Freak the offensive and defensive hub, since the two-time MVP posted 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game on a struggling Bucks team. For the Bucks, this trade offers a chance to retool with young, dynamic players and draft assets, providing a foundation for future success. Sengun and Green have shown considerable potential, and the additional picks could facilitate further roster development. Kevin Durant Joins The Rockets In Team-Friendly Deal Mar 24, 2025; Phoenix, Arizona, USA; Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (35) reacts against the Milwaukee Bucks at Footprint Center. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images© Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Proposed Trade Details Houston Rockets Receive: Kevin Durant Phoenix Suns Receive: Jabari Smith Jr., Cam Whitmore, Reed Sheppard, 2031 First-Round Pick (HOU), 2031 Second-Round Pick (HOU) Adding Kevin Durant (26.6 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 4.2 APG on 43.0% 3-PT FG) to the roster would infuse the Rockets with veteran leadership and elite scoring ability. Durant's experience and versatility make him an ideal fit alongside Giannis and Thompson, potentially forming one of the most formidable trios in the league. Advertisement Since Giannis dominates inside and Amen Thompson is best on the fast break, Durant would be a perfect perimeter shooter to take this team over the top. Even as he approaches 37 years old, Durant can drop 25 points in his sleep and can be the closer the Rockets desperately need. Of course, the trade would involve parting with promising young players and future draft picks, but the immediate upgrade in talent and experience could propel the Rockets into serious title contention. Durant's presence would also serve as a valuable mentor to Thompson, fostering growth and development. For the Suns, this trade provides an opportunity to acquire young, high-upside players and future draft capital, aligning with a potential rebuilding strategy. The inclusion of Jabari Smith Jr., Cam Whitmore, and Reed Sheppard offers Phoenix a chance to develop a new core for the future. Since the price for Durant has been lowered, they would accept bringing back the young players. Rockets Assemble a Championship-Caliber Starting Lineup New Starting Lineup: Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Amen Thompson, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo This lineup combines veteran savvy with youthful exuberance, creating a balanced and dynamic team capable of competing with the NBA's elite. Fred VanVleet (14.1 PPG, 5.6 APG) provides steady leadership at point guard, while Dillon Brooks adds defensive tenacity on the wing (14.0 PPG, 3.7 RPG). Amen Thompson's athleticism and playmaking complement the scoring prowess of Durant and the all-around dominance of Giannis. Advertisement Under the guidance of Coach Ime Udoka, this ensemble has the potential to execute a versatile and potent game plan, adapting to various opponents and situations. The combination of offensive firepower and defensive dominance positions the Rockets as legitimate championship contenders. The Rockets have the assets to go all-in for two of the greatest players of their generation, and there isn't a better time than now.
