Proteas' big guns picked for Aussie white-ball tour
Offspinner Prenelan Subrayen has also earned a maiden limited overs call-up.
The Proteas play their hosts in three T20 matches between August 10-16 before a three-game ODI series from August 19-24.
Subrayen, 31, recently made his Test debut in Zimbabwe, as did Brevis, 22, and Pretorius, 19. All three players have been included in both limited overs squads.
Having rested several regulars for the Tri-series tournament in Zimbabwe this month that also includes New Zealand, South Africa have recalled Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs.
Key allrounder Marco Jansen misses out on the tour through injury.
Markram will captain the T20 side and Temba Bavuma will lead the one-day team.

Penrith are preparing for the possibility of their first stint without Isaah Yeo since the start of their dynasty, with the lock's shoulder injury a concern for the run home. "The fact that he can keep playing is a really good sign. Obviously he pulled up a little sore at halftime and then after the game. "He won't be playing this week, and we'll just take it as it comes and see how he goes." Panthers prop Luron Patea will also miss Friday night's clash with a collarbone injury, but Cleary said the 20-year-old's scan was "better". "There are definitely a couple of us boys in the middle that need to take a step up. "You can't replicate Yeoy and you can't replicate his leadership and calmness on the field. "But everyone can chip in there in their own department to fill that void as a whole ... When he's been out, we've been able to do that in games." Melbourne's much-loved captain Max Gawn says he was shocked by the club's decision to sack premiership coach Simon Goodwin but has denied suggestion he is angry about the situation. In fact, Gawn has surprisingly revealed he is optimistic about the future and indeed excited about what is next. Speaking on Triple M, Gawn shared details of the Monday night when he found out, revealing he received a call from football manager Alan Richardson and club director David Chippindall ... who suddenly appeared at his door 'a minute later'. 'Here am I again, hey? This is fun. I initially took the Triple M job looking to get involved in some fun stuff in the morning,' Gawn said Triple M's Mick in the Morning. 'I found out Monday night, the Test match was coming to a climax between England and India, and I get a phone call from Alan Richardson and David Chippindall saying, 'Can we come over?', and they knock on the door within a minute of the phone call, so I reckon, they might have been out of the front. 'They walked me through the process, and I appreciate that I was involved in some early conversations. By Tuesday morning, it was all out there.' But he denied was angry about the situation, while surprisingly admitting he had already moved on. 'No, definitely not angry. I'm a supporter of the team. I love the Melbourne Football Club,' he said. 'They've sacked people that I love before, and I move on, and so do they. 'This one is harder to take at present, but I have some great relationships with the people that have made the decision, and they've explained carefully to me why. 'I'm excited for what's next. It's funny how quickly you move on in football. Goodwin sacked ... and I'm like, 'Jeez, my life is over, what's happened here?' (and) I'm down in the dumps on Tuesday morning. 'We train Tuesday arvo and again Wednesday, and today I can't wait (to play) the Western Bulldogs, can't wait for what we do in the trade period, and I can't wait to (see) what coach we get in. It's happened, now let's move on.' Gawn insisted he did not hold any resentment towards the board for making this decision. 'No, not at all. Some interesting takes: (Hawthorn great Luke Hodge suggested) I was going to get traded. I'm a lover of the Melbourne Football Club, and in the end, I'm going to support most decisions that they make, and this is another one I am going to get behind,' he said. 'I'm very close with Goody, and we're going to stay in touch. I've stayed in touch with Gary Pert (former CEO) and Kate Roffey (former president). Nathan Jones (former captain) got told to move on and I'm still incredible close with him.' 'We're trying to support Goody was much as we can. We're also supportive of the club moving forward and trying to win a flag, so we're supportive of club decisions and we want to broadcast to the supporters that we're OK.
