$30,000 of stolen Labubu dolls recovered from San Bernardino County home, police say
Investigators didn't say exactly when they dolls were taken, but said that they were recently investigating a warehouse burglary where suspects stole boxes containing the "highly sought-after Labubu collectible figurines," according to a news release from the Chino Police Department.
"These items, popular in pop culture and often sold for high prices online, were taken in multiple trips over several days," police said.
While investigating the theft, police served a search warrant at a home in Upland, where they found 14 boxes of stolen merchandise. They also recovered evidence indicating that the items were being prepared for resale across the country.
One suspect, who tried to flee from police, was arrested at the scene. They have not yet been identified.
Police said that the dolls were returned to their rightful owners.
Last week, authorities in La Puente, which is about 25 miles from Upland, were looking into a similar theft of Labubu dolls from One Stop Sales, a novelty store in the 600 block of Glendora Avenue. In that case, thousands of dollars worth of the collectibles were also taken. Days after the theft, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies helped recover some of the stolen items.
Investigators did not reveal if the two incidents are connected.
Labubus dolls are characters created by the artist Kasing Lung from his "The Monsters" book series. They have become especially popular in recent months as plush dolls.

NFL appeals Nevada Supreme Court ruling allowing Jon Gruden's lawsuit to proceed
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The NFL will appeal the Nevada Supreme Court's ruling Monday that former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden can proceed with his lawsuit and not go through the league for arbitration. The league will request a rehearing from the same court that overturned a prior Nevada Supreme Court panel ruling in May 2024 that the matter could go to arbitration. But in October, Gruden was granted a hearing by the full court. Gruden filed a lawsuit in 2021 against the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell, alleging that a 'malicious and orchestrated campaign' to destroy his career by leaking old emails he sent that included racist, misogynistic and homophobic comments that pressured the Raiders to fire him. Gruden resigned from the Raiders in October 2021 and sued the league a month later. In 2022, the NFL appealed to Nevada's high court after a judge in Las Vegas rejected league bids to dismiss Gruden's claim outright or to order out-of-court talks through an arbitration process that could be overseen by Goodell. The Nevada Supreme Court, in a 5-2 ruling, said that 'the arbitration clause in the NFL Constitution is unconscionable and does not apply to Gruden as a former employee.' Gruden was an on-air analyst at ESPN from 2011-18 when the emails were sent. He was the Raiders' coach when the team moved in 2020 to Las Vegas from Oakland, California. He's seeking monetary damages, saying that selective disclosure of the emails and their publication by the Wall Street Journal and New York Times ruined his career and endorsement contracts. 1 dead following overnight double shooting in San Francisco's Bayview
One person has died after two people were shot in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood late Monday night, police said. Around 10:35 p.m., officers were called to the 200 block of Harbor Road following reports of a shooting. As police headed to the scene, officers were told that a vehicle connected to the incident was stopped on the 2200 block of Cesar Chavez Street, more than a mile-and-a-half away. In the vehicle, police found two people suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers and paramedics rendered aid to the victims, who were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said one of the victims succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The victim's name has not been released. Officers said Tuesday that no arrests have been made. Additional details about the shooting are not immediately available.
