He should come. This is a democracy. Everyone has the right to come."
He then said, "But he (Rahul Gandhi) offered floral tributes to his grandmother (Indira Gandhi) and did not remove his shoes. This I didn't like much because it is not in our culture. We need to give special attention to this. In our culture, we have special sensitivity when offering homage."
Rahul Gandhi came to the state capital on a day's visit to launch the Congress' 'Sangathan Srajan Abhiyan' (organisation rejuvenation campaign) and hold meetings with party functionaries, MLAs, and workers.
Soon after his arrival at the Congress state office, Rahul paid floral tributes at the foot of Indira's statue located outside the state PCC office. A video went viral showing Rahul offering his tribute wearing shoes.

Protests continue in Tumakuru dist over Rajanna's ouster from cabinet

Tumakuru: The removal of KN Rajanna from the Karnataka cabinet has triggered widespread anger among his supporters across Tumakuru district. Congress's decision has drawn sharp criticism from Rajanna's loyalists in Kunigal, Madhugiri, and Koratagere, with hundreds arrived in Tumakuru to register their protest. Supporters from various taluks gathered in front of the Town Hall, carrying flex banners with Rajanna's photographs and shouting slogans against the government's move. They later took out a march to the Deputy Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The political tension comes a day after a high drama in Madhugiri, where one supporter allegedly attempted suicide over Rajanna's removal. Anticipating unrest, police in Tumakuru deployed tight security to prevent any untoward incidents. AHINDA (minorities, backward classes, and Dalits) leaders have also expressed their displeasure. In a closed-door meeting at a private hotel in Tumakuru, leaders accused the Congress high command of conspiring against Rajanna. Prasannananda Swamiji of the Rajanahalli Math in Yadgir alleged that a deliberate plot was hatched to oust the minister. Meanwhile, the BJP has seized on the controversy. Former minister CN Ashwath Narayan remarked, 'You told the truth about Rahul Gandhi now go ahead and reveal whose conspiracy this was.' Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra has also demanded a clear explanation from the the Congress, leaders are maintaining that the decision was made by the high command and is final, while avoiding direct comments on the reasons. The move has not only stirred political drama but also put the Siddaramaiah government under pressure, with protests on one side and opposition attacks on the other.

BJP, Congress trade barbs in Puducherry over restobar row, murder case

PUDUCHERRY: The political slugfest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress has escalated in Puducherry in the wake of the recent restobar controversy and a murder incident that has triggered public outrage. State BJP president V P Ramalingam on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on former chief minister V Narayanasamy, accusing him of hypocrisy. Responding to Narayanasamy's criticism over the restobar issue, Ramalingam alleged that it was the Congress regime which first introduced restobars in the Union Territory, claiming that licences were issued to a former government whip and his associates without following due process. 'This is like Satan reciting the Vedas,' he said, ridiculing the former CM's remarks. Citing incidents during the previous Congress government, the BJP leader recalled what he termed as law and order failures, including the murder of a former minister's relative and other violent crimes. He further accused Congress leaders of involvement in criminal and corruption cases.
