Like a brilliant comet, a true supercar from Maranello—such as the new Ferrari F80—appears very rarely, but when it does, the automotive world can't look away. The luminous F40 debuted in 1987, followed by the F50 in 1995, the otherworldly Enzo in 2002, the eponymous LaFerrari in 2013, and now, arriving in early 2026, the inimitable F80.
To call this 1,184 hp street-legal Prancing Horse magnificent feels like an understatement. In two decades of professional driving, I've never piloted anything so sublimely capable of devouring pavement; it borders on menacing. That's no surprise, given that it unleashes more power than any road-going Ferrari to leave the factory in history and distills everything the marque has learned in nearly 80 years. The proof, as always, is how it feels on the road—as if every insight and innovation is seamlessly deployed.

Developed alongside Ferrari's endurance-focused 499P—which makes 670 hp and recently won its third consecutive 24 Hours of Le Mans—the F80 required a few more years of R&D. As the automaker points out, it's easier to build a car for motorsport than for the market. Like the 499P and the 296 GTB, the F80 carries a compact 3.0-liter 120-degree V-6. But unlike the others—or any production car apart from the Porsche 911 GTS—it uses energy derived from the battery to power two massive electric turbochargers spinning at 160,000 rpm. Supplementing the engine's 888 hp are three electric motors—one located on the left cylinder bank and two at the front axle.
Straight-line performance is staggering: zero to 125 mph in a claimed 5.3 seconds, and zero to 60 in a mere 2.0. Launch control is a wild ride, equal parts fun and brutal, as all that boost sends the V-6 screaming. Driving the F80 quickly and efficiently means tracking the shift lights atop the steering wheel: After seven red lights, two final blue flash near the 9,000 rpm mark—your cue to pull the upshift paddle. Miss it and you'll bump into the rev limiter at 9,200 rpm.
After taking five handwritten pages of notes on the aerodynamics, I feel confident saying that aside from the Aston Martin Valkyrie, nothing harnesses the wind like this Ferrari. It produces 1,014 pounds of downforce on the front axle and 1,300 on the rear at 155 mph—a speed I approached repeatedly while lapping Italy's 2.62-mile Misano circuit. To ensure that the F80's aero performance stays consistent, four 48-volt active dampers complete a cycle every 25 milliseconds to maintain ride height and prevent body roll. It may sound strange that the car doesn't lean or compress, but when cornering at these velocities, even slight changes in downforce would be disruptive.
Plenty of modern hypercars are absurdly quick, but few offer this level of control: It invites, even demands, that you attack a road or a circuit with total confidence—and attack is the right word. I've driven the Valkyrie, which struggles with low-speed stability, and Rhys Millen's 2021 Bentley GT3 Pikes Peak car, which shares similar aerodynamics but lacks the same power. Both require aggression, but the F80 is in another league. Simply put, it's safe to say that it drives better than anything I've ever experienced.
The only disconcerting thought: I may never drive it again. And unless you're already among Ferrari's most favored few, you likely won't either—all 799 examples have been presold starting at $3.73 million apiece.

This seems almost certain to boost the price of a new car by thousands of dollars. That will likely drive up used car prices as well, pushing down already weak demand even further. That may be bad for U.S. automakers, but it's a boon for an auto parts supplier like O'Reilly. A slump in vehicle purchasing means that people hang onto their existing cars for longer. And the longer you have a car, the more likely it is that something on it -- whether it's a headlight bulb or an automatic transmission -- will need to be replaced, and O'Reilly will be happy to sell it to you (or to your mechanic). Weak job numbers are an auto parts retailer's dream Meanwhile, recent Labor Department data indicates that the U.S. job market may be softening. In its latest report, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that just 73,000 jobs were created in July, far fewer than many economists anticipated. The BLS also revised the previous two months' job numbers down significantly. That matches recent anecdotal evidence that hiring has substantially slowed. When people are unable to find a job -- or worried about hanging onto the one they have -- they're unlikely to make a major purchase like a new car, or even a used car. If hiring slows further or if the U.S. tips into a full-blown recession, many drivers may have no choice but to hang onto their existing vehicle, even if it's got problems. That may be bad for carmakers, but it's good for O'Reilly, which sells the parts needed to keep a clunker on the road. A high valuation is a stock buyer's nightmare One big concern for potential O'Reilly investors is how much its share price has risen. The company's trailing price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of 5.2 is already much higher than that of rivals Autozone (NYSE: AZO) or Advance Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP), which sit at 3.6 and 0.4, respectively. Its price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio has jumped to a multidecade high of 36.4, also well above that of its rivals. That said, given the company's solid track record and excellent prospects for further growth, its premium valuation makes sense. For O'Reilly's share price to double by 2030, it would need to increase by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 15% per year. That seems achievable. In the most recent quarter, diluted earnings per share were up 11% year over year, and management projected a 3% net increase in store count for the year. Add a few additional percentage points of sales growth from weakening auto sales and a softening labor market, and you could easily get a 15% CAGR for O'Reilly stock. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but even if O'Reilly falls short of a five-year double, it should still end up a long-term winner for investors. Lexus Finally Hints At Its Next Supercar In A Meaningful Way Say hello to the Lexus Sport Concept, a surprise reveal at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering at this year's edition of Monterey Car Week. Far more evolved than the Electrified Sport Concept yet still just on the other side of reality, this concept is described as a "progressively styled, future-focused yet truly authentic sports car [that] signals the way forward for Lexus design." In other words, we can expect at least certain elements of this concept to find their way to a production vehicle, like the next Lexus LC and RC, or better yet, a successor to the iconic LFA. Importantly, the cosmetic approach is relatively far removed from the V8-powered coupe we spied a month ago, which also made a run up the Goodwood Hillclimb soon after with a racing version close behind. A Stunning Design That Is Bordering On Being Production-Ready The abovementioned Toyota GT Racing Concept now seems to foreshadow something with a Gazoo Racing badge, despite its rumored 800-horsepower output that would make it a competitor to $200,000 cars like the Porsche 911 and AMG GT (the latter of which a prototype of Toyota's GT Racing Concept has been spied being benchmarked against). The Lexus Sport Concept in California is much sleeker and more cohesive with current Lexus design elements, while the Gazoo Racing Concepts at Goodwood still looked like Toyotas despite their camouflage. That being said, we must admit that the proportions are similar. At the front, the Lexus logo still appears in the daytime running lights as it does in something like the aging but beautiful LC, and the angular air dam and vented hood, though more aggressive than current Lexus designs, would fit well with the brand's existing designs if they make production. The narrow rearview cameras likely won't be available (at least not in all markets), but the vent behind the front arch that leads the eye to an intake behind the B-pillar manages to look dramatic without being over-the-top. The fin ahead of the rear wheel is also treading the line between reality and concept. This line is carried upward on the rear haunches, leading to a full-width taillight bar that leans down into the rear bumper as the headlights do into the front fascia. A massive rear diffuser sits below a sleek fastback with an adaptive rear wing, and a slender fin on the rear glass acts as a center high-mounted stop light; none of these elements look too extreme for production, though they are likely to be mildly toned down. Plenty Of Questions To Answer Overall, the design looks very much like what a slightly less wide LFA might look like today, but then again, the Lexus LC borrowed and modernized a lot of design elements from the LFA, so this concept could work as a preview of a successor to either. We should also note that the few photos Lexus has provided don't clearly show whether there is an exhaust, so there's a possibility that this might test the waters for a future EV, though that seems unlikely given market conditions and Toyota's aversion to producing too many EVs until the market wants them. It's also worth remembering that the departing Lexus RC is long overdue for replacement, which brings us back to our opening theory: whether or not this concept previews a specific model, its futuristic design looks feasible from multiple angles, and we fully expect to see a production vehicle with some of the concept's aesthetics being teased before long.
