Former Pro Bowl WR still sees San Francisco 49ers as Super Bowl contenders

USA Today4 hours ago

The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the NFL's premier teams over the last 14 years, making it to three Super Bowls, and despite losing all three, they've spent half of those years recording at least 10 wins in a season.
Unfortunately, the team stumbled a bit in 2024 after making a Super Bowl run the year prior, finishing with a 6-11 record and in fourth place in the NFC West. This poor performance led to multiple key players leaving in the offseason, including Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, Charvarius Ward, Leonard Floyd and many others.
With those changes, many believe that the 49ers will continue their struggles from last year and miss the postseason for a second year in a row for the first time since 2017-18. However, former NFL wide receiver, three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Keyshawn Johnson believes San Francisco can still be contenders to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in 2025.
"They didn't lose the type of pieces that we think," Johnson said recently on FOX Sports 1's "Speak." "They lost some numbers, but they replaced those numbers in free agency and through the draft. I don't think they're going to fall off at all. I think the culture's still there and the window for the Super Bowl is still wide open.
'Everybody for the most part from the leadership standpoint is in place. In terms of the guy that they may miss the most, probably just Deebo."
While the 49ers moved on from so many contributors, they also made it a priority to sign tight end George Kittle, quarterback brock Purdy and linebacker Fred Warner to long-term extensions that should keep the core together for a while.
'You still got Christian McCaffrey, you still got [Brandon] Aiyuk, you still got Fred Warner, you still got Brock Purdy and Kittle and Trent Williams,' Johnson said. 'So you still got [Nick] Bosa and company, they're still there.'
If the 49ers are going to contend for the division in 2025, they'll need their veterans to be healthy (which is a big ask for a few of them), and their rookies, including first-round pick Mykel Williams, to hit the ground running.

Tyreek Hill's hilarious reaction to Noah Lyles pulling out of race

The post Tyreek Hill's hilarious reaction to Noah Lyles pulling out of race appeared first on ClutchPoints. Miami Dolphins' wide receiver Tyreek Hill was scheduled to race Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles over the weekend of June 21. However, Lyles called off the race for personal reasons. Shortly after the race was called off, Hill shared a hilarious reaction on social media. Advertisement The 31-year-old wideout shared an image of Lyles' face photoshopped onto the famous meme of Homer Simpson of 'The Simpson's' backing into a hedge. Tyreek Hill shared the image, tagging Noah Lyles in the post, claiming it is Lyles' reaction after seeing Hill run the 100m in the previous weekend. On June 13, a video of Tyreek Hill running the 100m in 10.15 seconds at the Last Chance Sprint Series in California went viral. It was the first time the Dolphins' wide receiver ran the event since 2014, and he recorded a personal best. Hill is seemingly joking that Noah Lyles didn't want the smoke after seeing the clip of Hill running a 10.15 100m. Shortly after that race, Tyreek Hill trolled Lyles by posing with a piece of paper that read, 'Noah could never.' It was the eight-time Pro Bowler's way of getting back at Lyles, who posed with a similar message back in February after running in a 60m event. Noah Lyles did not reveal why he pulled out of the 100m race with Tyreek Hill. He did mention, though, that it was for personal reasons and complications. Hopefully, it's nothing serious, and the two can reschedule a race at another time during the summer. Advertisement These two have been at each other for quite some time now. It all started when Lyles called out professional athletes for calling themselves 'world champions' after winning a title in their sports league based in America. Lyles' technicality brought plenty of criticism, but Hill has been the most vocal about it. While Tyreek Hill continues to troll and call out Noah Lyles, he's still preparing for the upcoming season for the Dolphins. He hopes to bounce back from a down year after finishing the 2024-25 campaign with 81 receptions, 959 yards, and six touchdowns. It was the first time since the 2019-20 season in which Hill didn't surpass the 1,200-yard mark. Adam Schefter puts timetable on Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey trade

The post Adam Schefter puts timetable on Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey trade appeared first on ClutchPoints. Jalen Ramsey, the Miami Dolphins' star cornerback, might be gearing up for another move, and it could happen sooner than we expect. During a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN insider Adam Schefter expressed his belief that the Dolphins are likely to trade Ramsey 'before the start of training camp,' noting that the team is in active discussions with several other clubs. Advertisement Ramsey seems to have his eyes set on a return to the West Coast, with Schefter mentioning that the talented cornerback 'would like to go to Los Angeles — Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that.' The 30-year-old player spent four successful seasons with the Rams, earning multiple Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro title before being traded to Miami in 2023. While there's no deal finalized just yet, the Dolphins have been exploring trade options for Ramsey for months, even before the NFL Draft. Teams like the Rams, Chargers, Steelers, and Commanders have been floated as potential candidates. Schefter reiterated: 'Jalen Ramsey will get traded.' To wrap up a deal, the Dolphins might have to absorb part of Ramsey's contract. His impressive $24.235 million salary for 2025 might scare off some potential teams, but if Miami makes a post-June 1 trade, they could clear up $9.9 million in cap space. This extra financial wiggle room could be crucial as they aim to tweak their roster before training camp begins. Even though he's turning 30 this offseason, Ramsey remains a prominent figure in the league. His impressive track record includes six Pro Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl victory with the Rams. Steelers Nation suggested Ramsey as the missing piece to bolster a playoff-caliber defense as they head into 2025. Ramsey's offseason training sessions in California with former Rams safety Eric Weddle have only added fuel to the speculation of a possible reunion in L.A., while other contenders keep a close eye on the situation as camp approaches.
