17-Yr-Old Addict ‘Sold Her Body For Drugs', Ends Up Giving HIV To Many: ‘Was Then Transmitted To...'
Men who had physical relations with the girl from Uttarakhand were "unaware" she was HIV positive. Since some of them were married, their wives "too got HIV".
A troubling case from Uttarakhand's Ramnagar town has resurfaced online. A 17-year-old girl, allegedly addicted to drugs, transmitted Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) to at least 19 men over the past year and a half.
The incident initially came to light in October last year in the Gularghatti area in Nainital district. According to reports, the teenager was in contact with several local men, and many of them later tested positive for HIV. The girl was reportedly using the money she received to fund her drug addiction.
Men Unaware Of Infection
A post that gained widespread attention claimed that the men who came in contact with the girl had no idea she was HIV positive. Some of them were reportedly married, which led to the further spread of the virus to their wives.
'A 17-year-old girl gave HIV to 19 youth in Nainital, Uttarakhand. She was addicted to smack, and to fund her addiction, she engaged in physical relationships with men. The men didn't know that she had HIV. She slept with even some married men, whose wives also got HIV," read a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Infections Linked To Drug-Addicted Teen
The case started unfolding when several young men in the area began reporting severe health issues. They had approached the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) at Ramdatt Joshi Joint Hospital, where tests confirmed they were HIV positive.
An investigation followed and pointed to a common link: a teenage girl with a financially disadvantaged family who was taking heroin. During counselling, it was revealed that she had been sexually active with many of the infected men over several months.
Many Question Men's Actions
After the post resurfaced online, social media users reacted to it. While the incident itself shocked many, several people pointed out that the men had sexual relations with a minor, which is a punishable offence.
One user commented, 'So married men cheated on their wives and slept with a minor. They deserve it."
Another added, 'Those men made a personal choice of sleeping with a MINOR without protection while being MARRIED. ZERO SYMPATHY FOR SUCH PEOPLE!!! The only victims, in this case, are the poor women who were married to these disgusting men!"
'You mean to say multiple married men need to be booked under POSCO now. Good for the men," someone else said.
'Why are adult men sleeping with an underage person not the main problem here?" a person questioned while an individual shared, 'Those men deserved it! Why did they sleep with a 17 y/o? It's entirely their fault. Look at those married men, because of those imbeciles, now innocent women are affected."
Meanwhile, a user shared, 'Two years ago, I worked in Noida and noticed a girl, about 16-18 years old, living in a room inside mine. She consistently invited male friends daily for obvious reasons. Once the landlord discovered this, they chased her away."
Following the incident, the health department in the region took several steps to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. Seminars and awareness drives were organised where free testing and medicines were made available to those affected. The identity of all diagnosed individuals was kept strictly confidential.

'Trump proud s*xual assaulter': Martina Navratilova calls out Donald Trump after Mike Tyson comment resurfaces
Martina Navratilova calls out Donald Trump after Mike Tyson comment resurfaces (Image via Getty) US President Donald Trump's controversial statement about boxer Mike Tyson has resulted in Martina Navratilova, a tennis star, condemning him more recently. This occurred as Trump is under rising queries over his relationships with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who passed in prison in August 2019. The remark Trump made concerned Mike Tyson's 1992 rape conviction. Navratilova called out Trump for always defending men accused of sexual crimes, calling him a 'proud sexual assaulter and an adjudicated rapist.' Martina Navratilova blasts Donald Trump over Mike Tyson's rape case comments Six years in jail was Mike Tyson's sentence in 1992 when he was convicted of raping a beauty pageant candidate aged 18. Donald Trump then surprised several by claiming the penalty was too severe on Late Night with David Letterman. Trump also accused the young woman, claiming she was "dancing at his door at one o'clock in the morning." These phrases enraged people since they looked to absolve Tyson's crime. Years later, in August 2025, an X (previously Twitter) user reposted Trump's previous remarks. Having been very vocal against Trump for years, Martina Navratilova saw this and reacted strongly. She wrote on X that Trump has always made excuses for rapists like Tyson. Navratilova, a Czech-American and winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, has never been shy about speaking out. She called Trump a 'proud sexual assaulter' and said he has a long history of defending men accused of sexual violence. He said that his name was wrongly put in Jeffrey Epstein's secret files by former FBI Director James B. Comey, former US Attorney General Merrick Garland, and former President Joe Biden. Trump called the situation 'a hoax' and accused those leaders of trying to hurt him. This was reported by American lawyer Ron Filipkowski on X. Martina Navratilova responded to Filipkowski's post by saying Trump's assertions demonstrate his "fear." Navratilova, 68, keeps speaking out against Trump's words and deeds even when his admirers attack her. She champions survivors of abuse and violence and remains steadfast in pointing out what she considers to be wrong. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

No, Trump is not banning birth control, but US is destroying contraceptives worth $9.7 mn. Why and how much it will cost
The Donald Trump administration has plans in place to destroy millions of dollars' worth of taxpayer-funded contraceptives, which are meant for women in low-income countries. The US State Department will destroy the contraceptives at a French facility which handles medical waste. Image for representation(Unsplash) While there have been fears of Trump banning birth control in the US, they seem unfounded for now, since no such directive is in place. However, there have been reports that Trump's budget cuts have threatened access to birth control for many women in the US. Here's a look at what contraceptives the US government is destroying and how much it will cost them. What contraceptives are the US govt destroying and why? Among the contraceptives the US government is planning to destroy are IUDs, implants and pills. They cost approximately $9.7 million, NPR reported. These have been stuck in a Belgian warehouse since Trump scrapped the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and froze foreign aid earlier this year. Doctors without Borders and reproductive healthcare nonprofit MSI United States told the publication that these products have an expiration date ranging from 2027 to 2031. These contraceptives were meant for girls and women in low-income nations, specially sub-Saharan Africa. However, now they will be incinerated in Europe. However, the State Department told the publication that only a 'limited' number of commodities would be disposed of, and these don't include HIV medication or condoms. How much will it cost the US to destroy the contraceptives? The State Department said that it would cost the US $167,000 to destroy the contraceptives at a French facility which handles medical waste, NPR reported. However, this plan has been met by backlash from the medical community. Chelsea Polis, principal research scientist at the Guttmacher Institute, which supports abortion rights, told the publication that contraceptives worth $9.7 million could have provided pregnancy prevention to over 650,000 people for one year or 950,000 people for ten years, depending on how it was used. Also Read | $21mn USAID for voters in India never existed While some entities also offered to buy these contraceptives with the aim of distributing them, the Trump administration has refused to sell. The State Department has labelled these contraceptives as 'abortifacient birth control commodities', which means they cause the termination of pregnancies. US has a policy called the 'Mexico City Policy', which was brought by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, which restricts foreign nongovernmental bodies from using US federal funds to offer abortion services or related information. President Donald Trump brought back this policy at the start of his second term. Trump budget cuts impact birth control access back home Under the Trump administration, Title X – which was set up by President Nixon is reportedly under threat. Nixon, at the time, had said 'It is my view that no American woman should be denied access to family planning assistance, because of her economic condition.' While the 2025 US budget provided $285.6 million in Title X funds, a group of 15 public health organizations are now suing the Trump government over it. NPR reported that the groups are arguing that the Trump government illegally withheld these Title X funds, thus jeopardizing access to services, including birth control, for over 800,000 people.

Prince Harry eyes new charity after Sentebale dispute: ‘Absolutely committed'
Prince Harry is considering establishing a new African charity after stepping down as the patron of Sentebale, a humanitarian organization he co-founded in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in memory of their mothers, reported The Guardian. The charity supports children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana, particularly those affected by HIV and AIDS. Prince Harry is mulling over starting a new charity in Africa after Sentebale row(REUTERS) In March, Harry and Prince Seeiso, alongside several trustees, resigned, citing an 'untenable' relationship with the chair. The decision to exit the charity followed a high-profile dispute with Sentebale's chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka, who had previously accused the Duke of Sussex of bullying and harassment: allegations the UK Charity Commission later said it could not substantiate. Also Read: Prince Harry 'punched Andrew in the face' in shocking Royal Family fight, new book claims UK Charity Commission's rebuke According to the Daily Mail report, earlier this week, the Charity Commission published its findings. They said they found no evidence of systematic bullying, misogyny, or misogynoir (discrimination against women of African descent) at Sentebale. However, it acknowledged a 'strong perception of ill treatment' felt by some. The regulator criticized all parties for allowing the row to 'play out publicly' but said it could not intervene in internal disputes. The Daily Mail report added that in spite of the findings, Dr Chandauka and the board were permitted to remain in place, a decision that sources told the publication devastated Prince Harry. All options on the table The Duke's spokesperson confirmed on August 10 that Harry is 'absolutely committed' to continuing his work in southern Africa, reported The Guardian. In their statement, they said that Prince Harry has not yet made a decision and is considering either supporting pre-existing charities in the region or establishing a new charity. The publication quoted sources suggesting Harry and Prince Seeiso may even partner again on a fresh venture. Also Read: Prince Harry says he wants 'reconciliation' with royal family Governance concerns and funding issues Threats had been building for months, stated a Daily Mail report, including wrangles on consultancy fees and fundraising priorities. Later, the Lesotho center for children seemed to be in financial crisis and was "effectively mothballed." The resigning trustees expressed deep concern for Sophie Chandauka's future, accusing the regulator of ignoring key evidence. FAQs Q: Why did Prince Harry leave Sentebale? A: Harry resigned as patron in March 2025 after a breakdown in relations with the charity's chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka, supporting other trustees who also stepped down. Q: What will Harry do next? A: He is considering either setting up a new charity or working with existing organizations in Lesotho and Botswana. Q: Who is Prince Seeiso? A: Prince Seeiso of Lesotho co-founded Sentebale with Harry in 2006 and resigned alongside him in 2025.
