Grow a Garden Cooking Update: Full list of food pets and how to get Gourmet Eggs

Time of India2 days ago
In Grow a Garden, players can use eggs to hatch a wide variety of pets — even ones that, in real life, don't actually hatch from eggs. These eggs aren't only for real-world egg-laying animals; the game mixes fantasy and fun by allowing all sorts of species to hatch.
The game often has limited-time events where special eggs appear, bringing new and unusual pets. The latest event, called the Cooking Update, adds five unique pets that are all themed around food. The Cooking Update is not the first event to add new pets, and based on previous updates, these pets will disappear from the game once the event ends, as per the report by VG247.

List of all food pets in Grow a Garden Cooking Update
This means players have a limited window to collect them, making the event time-sensitive. Each food-themed pet comes with its own unique trait, which activates at set intervals to give the player some kind of benefit.
The five pets from the Cooking Update are:
1.
Bagel Bunny
– 50% hatch chance / Common rarity – Every 5–45 seconds, it eats a carrot and gives a ×5 value bonus.
Live Events
2.
Pancake Mole
– 38% hatch chance / Rare rarity – Every 10–80 seconds, it digs underground to find treasure; can uncover gear or sheckles.
3.
Sushi Bear
– 7% hatch chance / Legendary rarity:
Every 10–80 seconds: 15% chance to chill or freeze nearby fruit.
Every 100–670 seconds: throws sushi to a random pet, feeding it between 1% and 50% of its hunger.
8.4. Spaghetti Sloth – 4% hatch chance / Mythical rarity – Every 200–840 seconds, it adds one mutation (Pasta, Sauce, or Meatball) to a nearby fruit. If all three are added, they change into the Spaghetti mutation. 8.5. French Fry Ferret – 1% hatch chance / Prismatic rarity – Every 1200–3632 seconds, it increases a random pet's level by 1; this ability can't be copied or refreshed, as stated by VG247 report.
How to get a Gourmet Egg in Grow a Garden
The special egg needed to get these pets is called the Gourmet Egg. To get a Gourmet Egg, players must deliver cooked meals to Chris P. Bacon, a pig chef NPC introduced in the Cooking Update. The Gourmet Egg is given as a random reward, so there's no guaranteed way to get it — players just need to keep feeding Chris his requested meals, says reports.
The only way to improve your odds is to deliver meals as often as possible and hope the reward is a Gourmet Egg. Once you have a Gourmet Egg, you must first equip it in your inventory. Then place it in an open space on your plot, where it will work just like any other egg in Grow a Garden, as mentioned in the report by VG247.
After being placed, the Gourmet Egg will hatch automatically — no extra action needed from the player. The hatching takes an exact real-world time of 4 hours and 10 minutes, not a second more or less, as per the reports.
