Joanna Lumley and Paul Whitehouse are leading calls for the government to resurrect an abandoned plan to save England's rare chalk streams.
England is home to about 85 per cent of the globally important rivers, including the Avon, Frome and Stour which Sir David Attenborough highlighted in his Wild Isles series.
However, they are threatened by too much water abstraction and sewage spills, which led the previous government to commission a 'chalk stream recovery pack' to rescue the waterways, which trout and other species rely on.
Despite the author of the rescue plan saying it is 'agreed and written', Labour quietly shelved it after coming to power.
Now a group of celebrities have joined forces with conservationists fighting to save the plan, using a

Amanda Holden poses with 'BFF' Kylie Minogue backstage after her Tension Tour at London's O2

posed backstage with her 'BFF' Kylie Minogue following her Tension Tour at London's O2 on Monday. Amanda looked happier than ever dancing and singing at the concert as she was joined by her BGT co-judge Bruno Tonioli and her BBC co-star Alan Carr. The radio host, 54, supported the Australian singer, 57, at her sensational gig and surprised her with her very own bottle of champagne. The Spinning Around hitmaker launched Kylie Minogue Wines in 2020 on her 52nd birthday, with the brand having now sold over 20 million bottles globally. She first released a southern French rosé made from a blend of 80 per cent Carignan and 20 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon from the southern French coast. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. In an exclusive interview with The Drinks Business, Kylie revealed that drinking Provence rosé during sweltering nights in Nashville while recording her 14th album, Golden, is what inspired her to want to make her own. She told the publication: 'It was exceptionally hot and humid that summer, and it was an exciting time, being in Nashville and writing songs with no distractions.' 'While dining outdoors one night, my manager Polly and I were drinking Whispering Angel to cool down from the heat, which got me thinking how great it would be to have my own rosé.' 'I love pale pink rosés and all the associations of the Mediterranean that go with them.' Keen to be involved in all stages of the production process, Kylie chose the wine's long-necked, bell-shaped bottle finished with a pearlescent capsule. She also designed the label featuring her name repeated in relief and her signature in black in the centre. Amanda previously said Kylie is one of her 'BFFs' and that the pop princess called her when she was filming her scenes for her Neighbours debut in 2022. The actress played aunt to Jason Donovan's real-life daughter Jemma, who plays Harlow Robinson. Speaking to The Mirror at the time, she revealed that Kylie rang her up to give her some support on set. She told the publication: 'Kylie rang me while I was on set to say, "Hi, what's it like? How's it going?"' 'She knew I was filming, that's why she called. I love her so much. We call each other BFFs.' The pair were first introduced by celebrity make-up artist Christian Vermaak and have been firm friends ever since, regularly snapped together at glamorous parties. Kylie herself starred on Neighbours as Charlene Robinson, who went on to marry Scott Robinson, played by Jason Donovan. She left the show in 1988 in order to focus on her music career, with her character moving to Brisbane.

Ugo Monye signs deal to pay off tax debts

The 52-year-old was previously the subject of a bankruptcy petition by HMRC, which it withdrew in September 2023 after saying he had reached an IVA. That IVA is now listed on the individual insolvency register as having 'failed'. Vickery had a request to be made bankrupt granted in February last year after reportedly racking up debts to HMRC and others totalling six figures. Monye retired from playing aged 31 in 2015 after spending his entire 13-year career with Harlequins. In that time he helped them to their first Premiership title in 2012, while he also won 14 caps for England and two for the Lions, finishing top try-scorer on the latter's 2009 tour of South Africa. Shortly before retirement, he joined what was then BT Sport as a rugby analyst. In 2021, he took part in the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing show, a week after it emerged he had split from his wife of five years. He told The Sun at the time: 'We weren't in a volatile relationship, we never hated each other and there was no third party. Forget the Strictly curse – it's the Covid curse!' A week after Strictly began, Monye was named one of the new captains on A Question of Sport following the BBC's controversial dumping of veteran trio Sue Barker, Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell. A furious Barker, now 69, later questioned whether her age had played a part in the decision. During the two-year tenure of McGuinness, Monye and Quek, ratings plunged from a high of four million in the final years of Barker's reign to less than a million. Monye, who earlier that year joined the Princess of Wales for a rugby skills session after becoming a 'champion' in her childhood campaign, Shaping Up, also hit the headlines that November amid allegations he had been racially abused while working for TNT Sports at an Exeter Chiefs match.

Oasis star Noel Gallagher's Bentley goes on sale for €1.4 million

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher's red 1997 Bentley Turbo R has gone on sale priced at £1.2 million (€1.4 million). The four-door saloon car listed on Auto Trader was previously owned by the 58-year-old, despite the fact he cannot drive, once telling Zoe Ball on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show that he gave up learning after being mobbed by children when he was told to park close to a school for a lesson. Advertisement Speaking about the sale, Erin Baker, editorial director at Auto Trader, said: 'Cars listed by music legends don't come around very often, and Noel Gallagher's Bentley Turbo R is certainly one for the Auto Trader history books. The Gallagher brothers are to reunite for an Oasis tour this year (Zak Hussein/PA) 'With over 80 million visits to Auto Trader every month, we expect this rock 'n' roll ride to strike a chord with music lovers and car collectors alike.' The car also has the number plate 'OASI6 2', in reference to his Britpop band, who will reunite to play a run of gigs this year in the UK and Ireland, featuring stops at Manchester's Heaton Park, London's Wembley Stadium, and Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium, throughout July, August and September. Despite not being able to drive, Gallagher was ordered to pay a court £1,000 and was handed six penalty points in April 2023, for failing to tell police who was driving his Range Rover, when it was clocked speeding at 41mph on a 30mph stretch of the A40 in Edgware Road, West London. Advertisement Speaking about his driving lesson in the 1990s, Gallagher told Ball in 2023: 'I have had one driving lesson in the 90s and I was driving round a housing estate in Slough and she (the instructor) said to me, 'if you just indicate and pull over here' then I pulled over. 'She got out the car she said, 'I'll be back in a minute', she came out with her mum, she drove me to her house. 'Then the local comprehensive bell went and they all came out. 'This is at the height of Oasis-mania and I was like, 'never, never again'.' Advertisement Gallagher began his career in the 1990s with Oasis, who he formed alongside his brother singer Liam Gallagher. The band has gone on to have eight UK number one singles and eight UK number one albums, and is best known for songs such as Wonderwall, Rock 'N' Roll Star and Live Forever. The guitarist formed the High Flying Birds after Oasis's initial break-up in 2009, who have gone on to have four UK number one albums.
