Russian Boeing-737 turns back to airport to check cabin pressure systems, airline says
The flightradar24.com tracking website indicated that the plane, a Boeing-737 (BA.N), opens new tab with seating capacity for 176 passengers manufactured in 2001, sent an emergency signal. The site tracked the plane turning back and then repeatedly circling and flying in large loops.
"Flight S7 5103, travelling from Novosibirsk to Sochi, is returning to its departure airport to check the cabin pressure control system," the airline told Reuters.
The airline said in a statement that the plane was using up fuel before landing and that a replacement aircraft had been prepared to carry passengers to their destination.
The Western Siberian Transport Prosecutor's office said it was monitoring the incident.
The incident comes a day after an An-24 passenger plane crashed in Russia's far east as it was preparing to land, killing all 48 people on board in an incident that spotlighted the continued use of old, Soviet-era aircraft.

I was like, 'Ooh, can I keep that?' But I couldn't.' To Helen's horror, the stolen stash just keeps growing – everything from piles of socks, loads of underwear, and even a bizarre five-foot-long stuffed snake. Leo's record so far in one day is nine stolen items. Helen continued: 'He brought in a jersey this morning at ten past eight. The shops hadn't even opened.' Helen has tried everything under the sun to stop his thieving habits including keeping him indoors to leaving out clothes at home for him to steal. She said: 'He only wants stuff that he shouldn't have.' She has no choice now but to post photos of his loot on a local Facebook page, along with an apology and her address. A woman recognised her pink and purple underpants, and a boy was reunited with his missing sports jersey. 'Some of them are quite put out that he hasn't actually stolen anything of theirs.' Helen hopes that this is just a childhood phase for Leo and that he will grow out of it. Decapitated head wrapped in tin foil handed in to police
The missing head of a man whose body was found dumped on a street in Lisbon has been handed in to police. A student turned up at the city's São José Hospital yesterday lunchtime with the severed head in his rucksack. He is due in court later charged with aggravated homicide and desecration of a corpse. The rest of the body was found in a narrow side streat in the city 24 hours before. Tests have confirmed that the head and body are those of the same person. No motive has yet emerged for the crime. The student, who is reported to have confessed to the murder, is said to have told police he had only met the victim hours before he died. Police video footage of the operation shows the hybrid motor parked up among weeds and bushes outside the garage. Officers also discovered 67 hybrid and heavily adapted vehicles on the site either with illegal registration documents or unroadworthy bodywork changes. A police spokesperson said: "Given the nature of the site, special attention was paid to vehicles." The Bentley is believed to be modelled on an earlier "Ultratank" built by Russian petrolhead Konstantin Zarutskiy for his YouTube channel AcademeG. His prototype, with higher tracks, could reach 81 mph, slower than the Bentley's original 200mph but still faster than any other tracked vehicle. This isn't the first time a luxury motor has been seized in a police crackdown on crime. In the UK too, police are frequently confiscating supercars to improve safety in the capital. Last year, Scotland Yard confiscated vehicles including a McClaren, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari and Lamborghini. I bought £13,000 Bentley only to learn it was once owned by legendary TV host of classic 1980s game show Westminster local residents complained about cars driving poorly or at high-speed. The operation launched on the evening of August 2 and ran across that weekend seizing £6million worth of cars. "This hugely successful operation has proved we are dealing with those crimes, such as anti-social driving, that is causing most distress to residents and tourists.
