‘It became therapeutic for him and me' - RTÉ's Claire Byrne says of unusual method for cleaning her dog Cooper

Rather than waiting for her Labrador Cooper to shed his hair off onto the floor, Byrne decided to go directly to the source and hoover up the hair straight off his back.
Sharing her experience on Instagram, Byrne posted a video of herself hoovering Cooper with the caption 'Just the thing for the Bank Holiday Monday night fear. Cooper having a hoover groom.'
After sharing the video on her Instagram on Monday, Byrne joined Doireann Garrihy on RTÉ 2FM's drivetime programme to discuss the unusual cleaning technique.

"I always wanted to be on 2FM but I had to hoover my dog to get on,' she joked as she joined the show.
"About a year ago, I was hoovering the stairs and he tends to sit halfway up. He wasn't moving, he was kind of like, lazily watching me do it. And I just said 'Oh, he seems to enjoy the hoover, so I'll just try it on his back'.
'I don't know how I thought of this but I'll try it on his back, right. So that day, I did it and he sat there and he loved it. And then I forgot about it for a while, and then yesterday I was hoovering.
"You know bank holidays, it's the day to get in under the rads and the corners and the bits. And there he was in my face again, breathing in my face.'
Byrne said she hasn't checked the hoover bag yet but she thinks there's 'enough hair in that bag to knit another dog'.
She said she was unsure if hoovering Cooper was the right thing to do and invited guidance from experts, while admitting 'it became therapeutic' both for herself and the Labrador.
"Well, it's either that or hoover up after him so I am going to the source. I'm hoovering it off his ass rather than any fall off his ass into the corners,'
Byrne's RTÉ colleague, Miriam O'Callaghan, commented: 'Just love this so much! Claire's dog Cooper looks like the happiest dog in the world'.

Video shows Conor McGregor jeered as his Black Forge team are hammered 5-1

The star met his match on Friday evening Video has emerged of Conor McGregor being mocked by onlookers as his attempts to crack the world of pub football ended up on his arse. The former UFC fighter has never shied away from a challenge but as the above video shows he was out of his depth last Friday evening when his Blackforge FC were shown up by an impressive Ballyfermot-based Roc Celtic. The Notorious rolled out all the stops to grab an advantage, even hiring a scantily-clad bunch of cheerleaders to work the sideline. But his team were well beaten in the AUL Challenge Cup Final and were left licking their wounds over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Garron Noone leaves fans baffled after claiming he's actually American

Garron Noone has left the internet perplexed with his latest video. The Irish TikToker recently made a video impersonating an American father disciplining his son, with many perplexed by how convincing his accent was. Seeing an opportunity to mess with his audience, the musician and comedian shared another clip claiming he was actually American and that Garron was a character he had cooked up for online content. Garron Noone has left the internet perplexed with his latest video. Pic: RTÉ While folks at home could identify the Mayo man's joke, his fans across the sea were left more than a little confused by the claims. 'So a lot of people don't seem to know this if they haven't been on my page a long time, but Garron is a character that I developed, I think it was around 2020,' he joked. 'I just had this idea for just this humble West of Ireland guy, you know? He's angry about everything….I just thought he was this unlikely character and I just really connected with the idea,' he continued in the almost effortless US accent. @garron_music ♬ original sound – Garron Noone While Garron was unable to keep a straight face in the video, many still took to the comments, confused by his claims. 'Right.. now my brain hurts because I don't know if your American or Irish,' one user wrote. 'I low-key can't even tell if this is real or not like are you Irish or are you American? Which one are you?,' another penned. The Irish TikToker recently made a video impersonating an American father disciplining his son, with many perplexed by how convincing his accent was. Pic: Instagram 'It's too late at night to decide if he's joking,' a third shared. However, the Irish were quick to pull Garron up on his faltering accent, knowing there's no way he could truly fake a Mayo brogue that well. 'You coughed in Irish,' one user joked. 'The way you say 'circle' gave you away,' a second scolded.

Dr Mark Rowe: ‘There's something deeply moving about the way David Attenborough captures our planet's ecosystems'

BOOK: Mindful Body For years I've been deeply fascinated by the groundbreaking work of Harvard Professor Ellen Langer, whose research into the psychological aspects of health and wellbeing has opened up new perspectives for me. Her latest book, Mindful Body: Thinking Our Way to Chronic Health, offers an illuminating exploration of the powerful interplay between the mind and body, shedding new light on how our mental states profoundly influence our physical health. TV: Attenborough Few things inspire awe and wonder more than the documentaries of David Attenborough, whose work continues to offer a breathtaking window into the beauty, fragility and complexity of the natural world. There's something timeless and deeply moving about the way he captures our planet's ecosystems, reminding us of our interconnectedness with all living things. Closer to home, I find the RTÉ series Tracks & Trails a refreshing escape into the Irish countryside, providing both inspiration and motivation to explore the beauty of the natural landscapes on our own doorstep. SONG: Thunderstruck My tastes are as eclectic as they come. There's nothing quite like the electrifying energy of Thunderstruck by AC/DC to kick-start a workout or lift my spirits. And, recently, I had the pleasure of attending an Andrea Bocelli concert at the 3Arena, and it was nothing short of magical. FESTIVAL: Blackwater opera Living in Waterford, I'm fortunate to access some truly exceptional arts and culture festivals. The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival at Lismore Castle is, without doubt, one of the standout highlights of the year for me. The sheer quality of the opera performances, set against the majestic backdrop of Lismore Castle, birthplace of the great scientist Robert Boyle, creates an otherworldly experience. Equally, the Spraoi Arts Festival each August is a must-see event.
