Parents have been placing plasters in a criss-cross shape on their children's belly buttons before travelling this summer.
According to them, this DIY trick can help to ward off motion sickness.
TikTok mum Victoria (@smart.move.family) called the technique the "first thing" she does on a cruise.
And another mom-fluencer Ttsagana (@tsagana24) placed plasters on her children's belly buttons before boarding their camper van.

"Here's what I do to prevent motion sickness," she informed her TikTok followers.
Instagram user Jasmin (@rainbow.construction) revealed that her family's "travel life has completely changed" since learning the hack.
"I know, it sounds super crazy, but it totally works for both my children," she said.
"They used to be so poorly during longer car rides."

However, there is no science to back up this step as a method of curbing motion sickness.
Pediatrician Mona (@pedsdoctalk) shared her take on the technique in a TikTok video.
I've tried for ages to potty train my 3-year-old, then he watched ONE Ms Rachel's video and started doing it immediately
First, she explained that motion sickness happens when the brain gets conflicting messages.
The inner ear senses movement when travelling on a vehicle so when your child is focused on something still like a book or tablet, their brain gets confused.

This causes a mismatch which can result in nausea, dizziness, and sometimes vomiting.
"So unless this band-aid hack can magically rewire the entire sensory system, it's just another myth," Dr. Mona said.
However, she added that if it seems to have a placebo effect on your child, then you should continue using it.
More parenting hacks
IF you want to make your life easier as a first-time mum, here's nine hacks you won't want to miss.
1. Routine Charts
Create visual charts for daily routines. Use pictures and stickers to make them engaging for younger children.
2. Meal Planning
Plan meals a week in advance to save time and reduce stress. Involve your children in meal prep to teach them cooking skills.
3. Toy Rotation
Keep a portion of toys stored away and rotate them periodically. This keeps playtime fresh and exciting without the need for constant new purchases.
4. DIY Cleaning Solutions
Make child-safe cleaning solutions using vinegar and baking soda. It's effective and keeps harsh chemicals away from little hands.
5. Time-Out Jar
Create a time-out jar filled with calming activities written on slips of paper. When emotions run high, children can pick an activity to help them settle down.
6. Educational Apps
Utilise educational apps and websites to make screen time productive. Look for ones that offer interactive learning in subjects your child is interested in.
7. Command Centre
Set up a family command centre with a calendar, key hooks, and a bulletin board. It helps keep everyone organised and aware of daily schedules.
8. Emergency Kit
Keep a small emergency kit in the car with essentials like snacks, water, first aid supplies, and a change of clothes. It's a lifesaver for unexpected situations.
9. Label Everything
Use labels for clothes, school supplies, and lunch boxes. It makes it easier to keep track of belongings, especially in shared spaces like schools.
And if your child continues to feel sick while travelling, the health professional recommended other ways to tackle motion sickness.

She advised parents to consider the seat position of their child if aged two or older.
According to her, you should also keep your car cool and crack a window if possible.
Distracting your child by playing I Spy or encouraging them to look out the window can also help nausea.
And finally, hold off on heavy meals before travelling and focus on light snacks to settle your child's stomach.

Meanwhile, one mum was slammed for her DIY alternative to sand pits.
One parenting pro shared the hack she swears by for getting toddlers to sleep in minutes.
Plus, a budget-friendly trick will keep your child's bedroom spick and span.
And an Alexa hack that is helping parents convert picky eaters and it also aids with bed time.

I never wore suncream as a teenager – my skin looked like leather & I looked 50 in my 20s – now I've reversed the damage
SUN WARNING I never wore suncream as a teenager – my skin looked like leather & I looked 50 in my 20s – now I've reversed the damage Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE SUMMER season has well and truly arrived and now it's more important than ever to look after your skin. But while millions of beauty buffs kickstart their day by applying SPF, there are still plenty of those who skip the crucial step. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Lora, now 44, admitted to skipping sunscreen as a teenager - which later resulted in premature ageing Credit: tiktok/@loracroftcheck 2 The mum has since managed to reverse some of the visible damage - and looks better than ever Credit: tiktok/@loracroftcheck Now, one woman has revealed the shocking damage of her ''leather'' skin after she gave suncream a miss as a teenager - and how she now looks totally different. Mum Lora Croftcheck left TikTok users gobsmacked after she shared snaps of herself after skipping sunscreen in high school. Lora, who graduated in 1999, told fellow social media users she never bothered with sun protection. Sun safety should be non-negotiable and there are plenty of reasons to not skip this step, such as avoiding sunburn, minimising the risk of melanoma and premature ageing. Sun damage, also known as photoaging, is skin damage caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun without SPF protection. There have been plenty of studies that show that skipping sunscreen can lead to premature ageing, uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, and an increased risk of skin cancer. Sun damage is a significant concern because it can cause both cosmetic issues and serious health problem, experts have warned. However, it wasn't until later that Lora began to notice the true extent of the damage - and in her 30s, looked like she was in her 50s, she bravely shared in a now-viral video. Uploading selfies, the mum said ''the sun damage and bags were awful'' and admitted to always hiding behind cakey make-up to cover the spots and uneven skin tine. But as she approached her ''upper 30s'', Lora decided to start focusing on skincare - and the results have left people with their jaws on the floor. I let my kid start wearing make-up aged 3 - I've spent £1.5K on her 200 products & her skincare regime has 9 steps The mum, now looking more radiant than ever at 44, wrote: ''For the past seven years, I have worn sunscreen every single day, and I have never missed a day using skincare. ''I have used multiple brands over the years, and this is not a sales speech. ''It is just meant to motivate you to stay consistent, because it is truly key,'' said Lora who's also admitted to getting ''fillers and lasers'' on top of using the viral Korean skincare. The Importance of SPF WITH summer finally here, here's everything you need to know about SPF. 1. Protects Against UV Radiation: SPF shields your skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays, specifically UVA and UVB rays, which can cause sunburn, premature aging, and increase the risk of skin cancer. 2. Reduces Risk of Skin Cancer: Regular use of SPF can significantly lower the risk of developing various types of skin cancer, including melanoma, which is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. 3. Prevents Premature Aging: UV exposure accelerates the aging process, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. SPF helps maintain youthful skin by blocking these aging effects. 4. Maintains Even Skin Tone: Sun exposure can cause hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Using SPF regularly can help prevent these issues, leading to a more even and radiant complexion. 5. Essential for All Skin Types: Regardless of skin type or tone, everyone is susceptible to UV damage. SPF is crucial for all skin types to maintain healthy skin and prevent damage. 6. Everyday Necessity: UV rays can penetrate through clouds and windows, making daily SPF application essential, even on cloudy days or when indoors. While it's not possible to completely reverse sun damage, you can significantly improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin through various treatments and skincare practices. These methods, especially introducing SPF to your beauty routine, can help reduce wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven skin tone, and boost collagen production. Regular sunscreen use can minimise the formation of new sunspots and wrinkles and help repair some of the visible signs of aging caused by the sun. Other skincare buys worth investing in include retinol, retinoids, vitamin C, as well as other antioxidants and chemical peels, explained the experts at Cleveland Clinic. 'You de-aged 20 years' The jaw-dropping video, posted under the username @loracroftcheck, has since taken the platform by storm, amassing over 4million views. Close to 2,000 people flooded to comments in total shock, with one viewer writing: ''Australian here (so I know about sun damage) and finished high school in 1990. ''The difference between people who wear sunscreen and people who didn't is staggering at my age.'' Another was stunned by the epic glow-up, commenting: ''you de-aged 20 years, great job girl.'' Someone else said: ''I've been using sunscreen everyday since I was 21 I am now 65 and skin is really good with no wrinkles.'' ''Class of 2001! Tanning beds and now hiding my face from the sun!'' a beauty buff chimed in.

Why most Brits 'won't qualify' for 'game-changing' Mounjaro NHS rollout
In a new TikTok video, the consultant and professor explains who's really eligible and why BMI isn't the full story Celebrity endorsements and social media exposure has seen a surge in popularity of weight-loss injections in recent months. One particular injectable drawing significant notice is Mounjaro, or Tirzepatide, to give it its medical name. This week, GPs down south began prescribing Mounjaro, initially developed for the management of type 2 diabetes, to patients with severe obesity and multiple health risks as part of a phased plan announced by NHS England. The move follows recent NICE guidance, which recommends the use of GLP-1 medications like Mounjaro in adults with BMI over 35 and at least one weight-related condition - or lower thresholds for those from high-risk backgrounds. The drug has earned acclaim for its effectiveness in facilitating substantial weight loss. Scotland had already embraced Tirzepatide for combating obesity through the Scottish Medicines Consortium. But while the plan has been billed as a "gamechanger," Professor Franklin Joseph, consultant endocrinologist and founder of Dr Frank's Weight Loss Clinic, says it's more of a political move than a practical shift. And he believes far fewer people will benefit than many realise. In fact, the weight loss doctor has claimed in a TikTok video reacting to the announcement that the NHS's much-publicised weight loss jab scheme is being oversold - and that most people won't be able to access it anytime soon. In the clip, Prof Joseph broke down the numbers, saying: "It's estimated that out of 52million adults in the UK, only around 3.4million meet the NICE criteria. "But the NHS rollout is targeting just 220,000 high-priority patients over the next three years." Those eligible first are adults with a BMI over 40, or slightly lower for ethnic minority groups, who also have four or more serious weight-related conditions like Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnoea. "This is not a wide-open door," Prof Joseph said. "Access will be incredibly limited, and most people won't qualify." The expert added that while NICE has licensed the drug for broader use, the resources just aren't there to match. And although more people qualify privately, it comes with a cost. Prof Joseph explains that many more people could benefit from GLP-1 treatment if accessed privately - where eligibility starts at BMI 30 (or 27 with a weight-related condition like prediabetes or high cholesterol). "The truth is, these medications can help a lot more people than the NHS can currently support," he went on. "But right now, it's not about what works - it's about what's affordable at scale." The professor urges patients to consult a qualified specialist and focus on the full picture, not just weight. "BMI is just a starting point," he insisted, adding: "You need to look at metabolic risk, medical history, and how you respond to treatment over time." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Botched tummy lipo made my boobs triple in size due to a side effect – I'm not complaining as toy boys can't get enough
Plus, more about the risks of getting surgery abroad BREAST BELIEVE Botched tummy lipo made my boobs triple in size due to a side effect – I'm not complaining as toy boys can't get enough Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A WOMAN dubbed the claims her breasts got three sizes bigger after she had botched £7,382 liposuction on her stomach - and apparently, they are still growing. Elaina St James was happily sporting a DD-cup prior to her surgery, which targeted fat cells to give her a more toned appearance. In the months following the 'botched' surgery – which left her stomach looking 'lumpy' - Elaina's chest inflated so much that the content creator was forced to overhaul her lingerie wardrobe to accommodate the changes. The cougar is now a 36G cup size - but this could increase further. 'I thought I was going crazy at first,' said Elaina, who boasts 430,000 Instagram followers @elainastjames. 'I asked my doctor if it was possible that the liposuction was causing my boobs to grow. 'I couldn't think what else it could be, as I hadn't made any major changes to my lifestyle. 'I was shocked when he immediately confirmed my suspicions. 'The doctor explained that when fat cells are removed during liposuction, sometimes the body compensates by kind of inflating them in other areas. 'Apparently, it's not that uncommon. 'I couldn't believe it. I vomited lumps of flesh after getting dangerous weight loss surgery to become the 'perfect 10' 'I was blessed with naturally large breasts, so it wasn't an area I had ever wanted to enhance. 'I had no idea this was even possible.' A 2007 study shared in the US' National Library of Medicine found that nearly half (48%) of participants reported an increase in their breast size following liposuction of the abdominal wall. Elaina, who hails from the Midwest but currently lives in North Carolina, opted to go under the knife after years of feeling self-conscious about her stomach. I had been wearing a DD cup size for years but suddenly they weren't fitting right Elaina St James She said: 'I started out in this industry as an older woman, so I always had a 'mom bod' - but I just didn't feel comfortable being in front of the camera all of the time with my stomach out. 'Diet and exercise weren't making any difference in terms of toning it, so I started looking into liposuction.' Elaina explored different options before choosing to go with a large, national provider with 'great reviews'. But she felt dismayed with the finished look. A few months later, she looked at options to get the lipo revised. That's when she noticed the bizarre weight fluctuation to her chest. 8 Elaina explored different options before choosing to go with a large Credit: Jam Press/@elainastjames 8 Elaina paid another £7,382 to get liposuction with a second doctor in February 2025 Credit: Jam Press/@elainastjames 8 She had been wearing a DD cup size for years but suddenly they weren't fitting right Credit: Jam Press/@elainastjames Elaina said: 'I wasn't gaining weight anywhere else but I noticed my bras were becoming too tight. 'I had been wearing a DD cup size for years but suddenly they weren't fitting right. 'I was overflowing. Women's bodies fluctuate all the time, so it took a while for me to register the change Elaina St James 'I knew it was weird but I was so busy with moving and being a mom, that I didn't think too much about it.' More self-conscious than ever, once she was settled in her new home, Elaina paid another $10,000 to get liposuction with a second doctor in February 2025 - 16 months after her first procedure. This same physician confirmed that the first procedure had triggered her breasts to grow. Elaina said: 'They haven't stopped growing since. 'It's crazy. 'I now wear a 36G bra and with larger cup sizes you have to pay more for the brands that cater for them – so it's expensive having to get a whole new set. Do breasts get bigger after liposuction? Plastic & Aesthetic Surgeon Dr. Leonard Josipovic shared that it isn't uncommon for breasts to appear larger after lipo. It's not as strange as it sounds. When you have liposuction, fat cells in the treated area, such as the stomach, are permanently removed. But your body still has fat cells in other places. If you gain weight after the procedure, those remaining fat cells can grow larger. Since the treated area now has fewer fat cells, weight gain may show up more in other parts of the body like the back, upper arms, face or even the breasts. Breasts are made up of both glandular tissue and fat. The amount of glandular tissue is influenced by hormones, age and genetics, while the fat content can change depending on your overall body composition. So if someone gains weight after lipo, it's entirely possible that some of that fat gets stored in the breasts, making them look fuller. It's not that fat has physically moved from one place to another, it's just that your body now stores fat differently. Liposuction is a contouring procedure, not a weight loss treatment. If someone keeps their weight stable and sticks to a healthy lifestyle after surgery, fat won't suddenly shift to strange places. But if weight is gained, it will show up in areas that weren't treated - and that can include the breasts says Dr. Leonard Josipovic. 'It has cost me $450 to get new everyday bras that fit my new size. 'I'm hoping I don't grow much more, because it gets to a point when boobs become too big to manage.' While she isn't overly thrilled with the unexpected side effect, Elaina's new look has proved good for business. She said: 'It's not the worst thing in the world to have big boobs – especially in my line of work. 'Men love it. 8 She isn't overly thrilled with the unexpected side effect Credit: Jam Press/@elainastjames 8 Elaina values having a 'natural aesthetic', she is pleased with her new look Credit: Jam Press/@elainastjames 'Some of my fans even spotted the increase before I did. 'Women's bodies fluctuate all the time, so it took a while for me to register the change. 'I started getting comments that my boobs looked bigger. 'I thought it was just because my stomach was thinner, giving the illusion of a larger chest – but they turned out to be right.' While Elaina values having a 'natural aesthetic', she is pleased with her new look – including the unexpected changes. She added: 'There's a lot of pressure to look good for women at every age and I'm all for it if you want to address insecurities. 'I remember getting comments saying I should do some sit-ups, put down the pizza or even go on Ozempic before having liposuction. 'I feel really confident in my body now and I'm embracing my new breasts too. 'Although I didn't intend to get a boob job, I'm definitely not complaining!'
