Ratlam Mid-Day Meal Lapse: Students served sev-parmal instead of kheer-puri; 5 issued notices
sev-parmal
(puffed rice) instead of the mandated
kheer-puri
under the mid-day meal scheme has gone viral on social media.
The District Panchayat administration has issued show-cause notices to five individuals associated with the school and the meal preparation, directing them to respond within three days.
The incident occurred on June 24, the video however surfaced on Tuesday and reached the district panchayat officials. In thevideo, students can be seen eating only sev and parmal, while a few staff members and villagers stand nearby.
A voice in the background is heard saying, 'Jo ho raha hai, bolte jao, record ho raha hai' (Keep talking, it's all being recorded), suggesting the video was captured by a villager to document the deviation from the prescribed meal.
According to the state government's fixed menu under the mid-day meal scheme, kheer-puri is to be compulsorily served every Tuesday. The distribution of sev-parmal instead is a direct violation of these guidelines.
After receiving the video, Ratlam Zila Panchayat CEO Shringar Shrivastava directed the nodal officer of the mid-day meal branch and Additional CEO Sharma to carry out an immediate inquiry and take necessary action.
'We got the video and information regarding this change in the menu through our internal monitoring system. Notices have been served to five persons responsible for providing mid day meals in that school.
Detailed enquiry has been initiated in the matter,' Shrivastav told TOI.
Based on preliminary findings, notices were issued to school headmistress Vijaya Maida, Assistant Programme Coordinator Vivek Nagar, Block Academic Coordinator Bhupendra Singh Sisodia, and the president and secretary of the Saraswati Self-Help Group, Shanti Bai and Kamla Bai, who are responsible for preparing the meals. All five have been asked to submit their written explanations within three days.
The administration has warned that failure to provide a satisfactory reply will result in disciplinary proceedings under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965.

Satirical war of words, Gehlot Vs BJP, on Yamuna water continues
Jaipur, Aug 1 (UNI) Satirical war of words between former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and leaders of the ruling BJP is still on, it is multi-pronged this time on issue of Yamuna water, involving Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and MoS Home Jawahar Singh Bedham, besides the Ex CM. On Monday earlier this week, Gehlot at a function in Neem Ka Thana (Sikar) targeted his successor Sharma with a satirical pot shot for the latter's commitment of fetching the Yamuna water, under accord with Haryana, to "Neem Ka Thana", one of the thirsty towns of Shekhawati region. The 3 timer ex-CM said "Bhajan LalJi Agar Aap Yamuna Ka Pani Neem Ka Thana Le Aaoge Tau Uss Din Mein Khud Aakar Aap Ko Mala Pehnaunga (The day you fetch Yamuna water to Neem Ka Thana, I shall come personally to you to garland you)." Then the Congress leader added a humorous one liner to his quip "Aap Lage Raho, Lage Raho, Munna Bhai MBBS Ki Tareh" (You continue and keep on it like Munna Bhai MBBS). The Gehlot went on a bit pungent while saying "Bhajan Lal Ji Aap Bhajan Karte Ho Achi Baat Hei ; Aapko Mandir Jana Acha Lagta Hei, Hamen Bhi Acha Lagta Hei. Parntu Aap Bhajan Ke Sath Sath Sankalp Bhi Karlo Ki Yamuna Ka Pani Lekar Aaunga." The satirical shots by the senior Congress leader were expected obvious rebuttal from the ruling party, many leaders did so. Chief Minister Sharma also opted to make delayed but strong worded response on Thursday. The CM retorted "Congress Ke Log Kahte Hein Ki CM Mandir Bahut Jaate Hein, Congress party Ke Log Batayen Kya Ab Mein Aapne Astha Kendron Par Naa Jaon (They say I do very frequently visit temples, let them tell me shouldn't I go to my faith centers?)" Then Sharma added "Congress Ko Apni Mansikta Badalni Chahiye" (Congress required to change its mindset and psyche). Then came a pungent pot shot from the CM "Purva Chief Minister Ko Bhi Bhajan To Karna He Padega, Kyonki Jhuthe Vayadon Aur Jadugari Se Kuchh Bhi Hone Wala Nahin Hei"(The former CM will also be needed to sing Bhajans as false promises and tricks of magic would pay no dividends). Gehlot - the son of a renowned Magician of his times, Laxman Singh Gehlot-himself is a trained magician. The BJP did not stop there, Minister of State for Home (MoS) Jawahar Singh Bedham also came on yesterday with a sharp quip saying "Mala Tau Purva Mukhya Mantri Ko Pehnani Hi Pedegi, Khyonki Yamuna Ka Pani Tau Jaldi Hi Shekhawati Mein Aayega Aur Jis Din ex CM Ashok Gehlot Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Ko Mala Pehnane Aayenge, Ham Bhi Unhen Ek Cup Chai Pilayenge. Then MoS Bedham praisefully elaborated on progress made by Chief Minister in the matter of the Interstate Yamuna Water Accord with Haryana. He said Chief Minister Sharma had begun on this matter with positive approach and worked out successfully mutual accord with Haryana. This is followed by signing of requisite memorandum of understanding (MoU) to pave way for bringing Yamuna water to Shekhawati region soon. UNI RKM
