PM to inaugurate flats for MPs on Monday
Officials said the PM will also plant a Sindoor sapling (bixa orellana) at the residential complex and interact with the construction workers of the project. The inauguration event will start at 10am on Monday.
A senior traffic police official said the traffic movement will be briefly affected in the area around the Gol Dak Khana during the entry and exit of the convoy. No large scale diversions are planned, the officer said.
The complex has 184 Type-VII flats, each with a carpet area of 5,000 square feet, five bedrooms, dedicated office spaces for MPs and their assistants, and two additional rooms for support staff. Amenities will include power backup, firefighting systems, integrated structural safety features, and an energy-efficient green building design.
'Each residential unit offers ample space for both residential and official functions. The inclusion of dedicated areas for offices, staff accommodation, and a community centre will support MPs in fulfilling their responsibilities as public representatives,' an official government statement said.
'Incorporating green technology, the project adheres to the standards of the GRIHA 3-star rating and complies with the National Building Code (NBC) 2016. These environmentally sustainable features are expected to contribute to energy conservation, renewable energy generation, and effective waste management,' the statement added.
Work on the project was completed within 30 months, officials said. 'Use of advanced construction technology — monolithic concrete with aluminium shuttering — enabled timely completion of the project while ensuring structural durability,' the statement said.
The buildings are said to be earthquake-resistant and a comprehensive and robust security system has also been implemented.
Other common amenities will include a two-level underground parking facility for 500 vehicles, a community centre, and shops to cater to daily requirements within the premises. The project cost was approximately ₹550 crore and all buildings are expected to have a shelf life of 100 years.
The government has stated that the development of the project was necessitated due to shortage of adequate housing for MPs. 'Owing to the limited availability of land, there has been a sustained emphasis on vertical housing developments aimed at optimizing land use and minimizing maintenance costs. This residential complex, situated at BKS Marg, New Delhi, offers significant locational advantages for the MPs, particularly due to its proximity to the Parliament house complex,' the report mentioned.

Budget constraints wont stall Delhis development: CM Rekha Gupta
New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has asserted that development work in the national capital will not be hindered by financial constraints, as she directed all department heads to ensure timely completion of projects, officials said on Wednesday. The chief minister earlier this week held a special meeting with the heads of all departments to review the progress of the ongoing development projects, public service initiatives, and administrative reforms, an official statement said. During the meeting, Gupta directed the department heads to ensure that the ongoing development projects across Delhi are completed on schedule, with continuous monitoring by responsible officials, it said. She stressed that the capital's progress towards a 'Developed Delhi" will not be impeded by financial constraints, noting that the Delhi government has an adequate budget while the Central government is also providing full support. The chief minister also directed that the e-office system be strengthened and utilised to its full potential, stressing that no development work should face obstruction under any circumstances. She issued clear directives that all capital projects outlined in the budget must be implemented without any delay, and their progress reviewed regularly. Senior officials must continuously monitor these initiatives and take immediate, effective action to resolve any issues, the chief minister said. She highlighted that the Delhi government has passed a record budget of Rs 1 lakh crore to ensure that no project faces financial constraints. Gupta added that she will continue to review the projects regularly to ensure their timely completion. She also expressed satisfaction with the success of the digital governance system, and emphasised promoting it further, along with ensuring the full implementation of the e-office system. Noting that 119 out of the 199 departments have adopted the system, she asked the remaining ones to join the e-office system immediately to ensure complete digitalisation of offices. The chief minister also stressed the active participation of all the departments in the 'Kude Se Azadi' campaign being run in August. Gupta also instructed the department heads to prioritise tasks related to representatives or ministers of the Central or Delhi governments, legislators, etc., as their work is linked to public interest. She said all department heads should prioritise renovation of their office premises so that the work environment is appropriate and people do not face any inconvenience. Mizoram MP urges BRO to expedite projects, resolve land issues
Aizawl, Aug 13 (PTI) Mizoram's lone Lok Sabha MP Richard Vanlalhmangaiha has urged the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to expedite the ongoing projects and resolve land acquisition issues in the state, an official statement said on Wednesday. During a meeting with BRO Director General Lt. Gen. Raghu Srinivasan in New Delhi on Tuesday, Richard urged him to expedite the construction of roads and other development infrastructures currently being undertaken by the organisation across the state, the statement added. He requested the BRO director general to take steps to ensure that construction of concrete bridges, which has been halted for some time, is resumed, it said. The MP also sought the director general's intervention in resolving the pending land acquisition issues in Lawngtlai, Siaha, and Champhai districts, it said. He urged the BRO chief to immediately release the pending additional compensation amounting to Rs 82 lakh in connection with the ongoing construction of Tipa-Laki-Lope-Lopu (LTTT road) project in the southern part of the state. In response, Srinivasan informed Richard that immediate action will be taken to ensure that the ongoing and upcoming projects are executed, the statement added. He also assured that pending compensation for LTTT road and land acquisition issues in the three districts will be resolved soon. Srinivasan said he would visit Mizoram and personally inspect the ongoing projects, the statement added. 'First, the government will have to find 1,000, or maybe 2,000, centres because you can't put so many dogs together — they'll fight. So they'll need to find land first. Municipalities are authorised to file FIRs against those impeding govt staff executing orders. The bench said strict law enforcement was imperative to ensure the safety of citizens and maintain public order and sought a detailed report before the next hearing, scheduled for September 8. The Madras high court has recommended implementing the Supreme Court's order in Tamil Nadu as well.
