Budget constraints wont stall Delhis development: CM Rekha Gupta
The chief minister earlier this week held a special meeting with the heads of all departments to review the progress of the ongoing development projects, public service initiatives, and administrative reforms, an official statement said.
During the meeting, Gupta directed the department heads to ensure that the ongoing development projects across Delhi are completed on schedule, with continuous monitoring by responsible officials, it said.
She stressed that the capital's progress towards a 'Developed Delhi" will not be impeded by financial constraints, noting that the Delhi government has an adequate budget while the Central government is also providing full support.
The chief minister also directed that the e-office system be strengthened and utilised to its full potential, stressing that no development work should face obstruction under any circumstances.
She issued clear directives that all capital projects outlined in the budget must be implemented without any delay, and their progress reviewed regularly.
Senior officials must continuously monitor these initiatives and take immediate, effective action to resolve any issues, the chief minister said.
She highlighted that the Delhi government has passed a record budget of Rs 1 lakh crore to ensure that no project faces financial constraints.
Gupta added that she will continue to review the projects regularly to ensure their timely completion.
She also expressed satisfaction with the success of the digital governance system, and emphasised promoting it further, along with ensuring the full implementation of the e-office system.
Noting that 119 out of the 199 departments have adopted the system, she asked the remaining ones to join the e-office system immediately to ensure complete digitalisation of offices.
The chief minister also stressed the active participation of all the departments in the 'Kude Se Azadi' campaign being run in August.
Gupta also instructed the department heads to prioritise tasks related to representatives or ministers of the Central or Delhi governments, legislators, etc., as their work is linked to public interest.
She said all department heads should prioritise renovation of their office premises so that the work environment is appropriate and people do not face any inconvenience. PTI SLB ARI

New York/Washington, Aug 15 (PTI) Imposing tariffs on India will not stop Russian President Vladimir Putin or address Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the House Foreign Affairs Committee Democrats said on Friday. The committee's post on X came in response to a statement by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that if 'things don't go well" between US President Donald Trump and Putin at their Alaska summit meeting, then secondary sanctions on India for purchasing Russian oil could go up. 'Tariffing India won't stop Putin. If Trump really wanted to address Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, maybe punish Putin and give Ukraine the military aid it needs. Everything else is smoke and mirrors," the House Foreign Affairs Committee Democrats said. Bessent, in an interview to Bloomberg on Wednesday, said, 'I think everyone has been frustrated with President Putin. We expected that he would come to the table in a more fulsome way. It looks like he may be ready to negotiate." 'And we put secondary tariffs on the Indians for buying Russian oil. And I could see, if things don't go well, then sanctions or secondary tariffs could go up," he added. When asked about China, the main purchaser of Russian crude, Bessent had said he is 'not going to get ahead of the president, but the president is the best at creating leverage for himself and he will make it clear to President Putin that all options are on the table". On whether sanctions can go up or loosened, Bessent had said, 'Sanctions can go up, they can be loosened. They can have a definitive life. They can go on indefinitely." He had added that even as Trump is meeting with Putin, the Europeans 'need to join us" and need to be willing to 'put on these secondary sanctions". Bessent recalled that at the G7 meeting in Canada this year, he asked the leaders at the table whether they are willing to put a 200 per cent secondary tariff on China. 'And you know what, everybody wanted to see what kind of shoes they were wearing," he said. Trump imposed tariffs totalling 50 per cent on India, including 25 per cent for Delhi's purchases of Russian oil that will come into effect from August 27. Responding to the tariffs, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that the targeting of India is unjustified and unreasonable. 'Like any major economy, India will take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests and economic security," it said. Bad news for Swiggy customers, company takes BIG decision, increases platform fees by Rs…, will it affect 2 million orders?
Swiggy Platform Fees Hike On Independence Day, food delivery giant Swiggy increased its platform fee from Rs 12 to Rs 14 per order. The new rates already took effect on August 15, 2025. The company, which delivers over 2 million orders daily, says the hike is aimed at strengthening its financial position as order volumes rise during the festive season. Swiggy Increases Platform Fees Swiggy first introduced a platform fee in April 2023 at just Rs 2 per order. Since then, it has gradually increased, reaching Rs 14 now. Despite the repeated hikes, order volumes have not been affected. While a Rs 2 increase may seem small to customers, for a company like Swiggy it translates into huge gains. At current order levels, the new fee could generate an additional Rs 2.8 crore per day, Rs 84 crore per quarter, and Rs 336 crore annually. Swiggy Financial Performance According to Moneycontrol , the hike comes during the festive season when food ordering spikes. However, it is unclear whether Swiggy will roll back the fee to Rs 12 after the season ends. In the past, the company has kept higher rates even after special occasions. Last time during the New Year period, the fee was raised and never reduced after observing no drop in order volumes. In terms of financials, Swiggy reported a loss of Rs 1197 crore in the April–June 2025 quarter, a 96% jump compared to a loss of Rs 611 crore in the same period last year. Revenue, however, grew 54% to Rs 4,961 crore from Rs 3,222 crore a year earlier. Its food delivery business expanded by 19%, while its quick commerce arm, Instamart, grew by around 108%. The company's total order value rose 45% to Rs 14,797 crore, but expenses also climbed sharply from Rs 3,908 crore to Rs 6,244 crore. This latest fee hike means customers will now pay Rs 2 more per order. Swiggy says the change will help improve its services, but for customers.

HRTech startup Darwinbox raises $40M from Canada's TVG
Hyderabad: HRTech startup Darwinbox raised US$40 million (approx. Rs 350 crore) from Teachers' Venture Growth (TVG), the late-stage venture and growth investment arm of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP). Though the Hyderabad-based startup did not disclose the quantum of stake TVG has acquired, it said the Canadian fund picked up stake through primary and secondary transactions. The latest round comes less than six months after Partners Group and KKR led a $140 million funding round, which largely included a secondary fundraise where some of the early investors offloaded a portion of their stake and a small primary fundraise component. Darwinbox also has investors such as Microsoft, Salesforce, Peak XV, Lightspeed, and TCV.
