Anubhav Sinha: Most of the time, it's the people of Delhi that made the shooting work
Anubhav Sinha
just wrapped up an extensive shoot schedule in Delhi for his next film. In a four-week period, he covered over 20 locations in NCR and his biggest takeaway was how helpful the people of the city were and, of course, the amazing food.
The director says he left the capital 2-4kgs heavier and with many warm memories. While the director shot extensively in the capital, the locations he picked were not the typical visuals you see of Delhi – the posh localities of South Delhi, the elegance of Lutyen's Delhi or the old world charm of Purani Dilli. Instead, he chose the more mundane, gritty side of the city – from Sadar Bazar and Amar Colony to Yamuna Ghat and the Ghazipur landfill. Excerpts from a chat about his experience in the city:
Anubhav chose the more mundane, gritty side of the city – from Sadar Bazar and Amar Colony to Yamuna Ghat and the Ghazipur landfill
'Delhi people are such wonderful hosts'
Most of the time, it's the people of Delhi that made the shooting work.
It's the people. People who love films, and they see a unit of 150 people running helter-skelter to make something work which they can't see, they don't know what it is. Somewhere in the corner there is one camera and in front of it there's something going on – but for 100 meters there is chaos, there is mess, people running around with lights and properties and costumes, and so they don't know what's going on.
They're a little disoriented, but they're trying to do their best to make it happen.

I loved interacting with the people of Delhi. It was great fun. The fact that everybody wants to host you, everybody that you stand and talk to would want to host you for a meal or for a cup of tea. They're such wonderful hosts. It's the Punjabi effect.
Anubhav with the team in Amar Colony
We shot a lot in Lajpat Nagar – Amar Colony. And we reached out to the (traders) union, we sat down with them and told them what we required and all of that. Suddenly, every shop owner was told that there's a shoot.
The people were anyway helpful to begin with and then they were also offering food and inviting us home to have a cup of tea at least, if not a meal. And I was saying 'no, no, I am shooting I can't come to your house to have lunch', but then they will send something.
At least tea will show up… It was great fun shooting here. It's such a wonderful city. I had such a ball. The local people are very, very, very helpful. You go to them and request, can I use your garage? Can I use your terrace? Can I use this? Can I use that? They try and go out of their way to help you.
Because, you know, India is a country that's fascinated with movies and cricket.
Never had such an extensive schedule in Delhi: Anubhav
'Never had such an extensive schedule in Delhi'
I have never shot for 20 days in Delhi. I shot for Thappad here a bit, I shot for Anek here a bit. But never such an extensive schedule. I needed it to be in Delhi, without making you feel that this was probably shot in Meerut or Lucknow or somewhere else. So it was a really tricky shoot in the sense that you were not in those iconic places that you know at a glance as Delhi.
But still, you should feel through the film that it's in Delhi.
Anubhav chose to show a very different side of Delhi and picked offbeat places – from Amar Colony to the Ghazipur landfill
'I love Delhi's chhole bhature!'
It's a joy to shoot in Delhi. The discussion that we have before we go to any city is about the eateries – 'What are we eating every day?' And Delhi offers so much! At every nook and corner there is some 'special' food. It doesn't matter where you are, there's always a place within a kilometer from you which is iconic and super famous. I'm convinced that I put on 2-4 kilos during these four weeks. The hotel breakfast menu always have puri sabzi or chhole bhature - I love chhole bhature so much that I hate them - because I want to have them every day (laughs)!
We clicked Anubhav gorging on chhole bhature in Bengali Market back in 2016
'Delhi is the real microcosm of India'
Mast shehar hai - khana, music, kapde, bahut sara bhaichara. This is the real microcosm of India. There are all the classes, adjacent to each other. So there is the real rich class, the neo rich class and the bourgeois. And then there are the slums, which is the underbelly of any metropolis. And you know they exist together and it works endlessly. Seems like the city works so seamlessly - which is not true anywhere in the world, but it seems so.

Ridhi Dogra and Raqesh Bapat were once one of the most loved couples on Indian television. The two met on the sets of Maryada, fell in love, and tied the knot on May 29, 2011. Their quiet yet strong bond surprised many fans, but after eight years of marriage, the couple parted ways in 2019. While the separation was amicable, Ridhi admitted it took time for her to adjust to the sudden solitude that followed. 'I used to enjoy people coming over... then I was alone' Ridhi, in a recent interview with Instant Bollywood, opened up about the emotional transformation she underwent after the divorce. From being a married woman who enjoyed a lively home, to living alone and slowly building a healthy relationship with herself, she shared how that chapter shaped her into the person she is today. 'For me, he was home,' she said, admitting that she missed companionship for a long time. But over time, she learned to embrace her solitude and now enjoys her own company. Despite the heartbreak, Ridhi remains open to the idea of love. In fact, she calls herself a romantic at heart. 'Why will I not be open to falling in love? I mean, I am always open to love. I am a big romantic and it takes very little time for me to fall in love. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Family Adopted A New 'Dog', But When The Vet Sees It He Calls The Police Undo I am very picky,' she smiled. 'I let go of my self-worth for love, and no one should do that' When asked about the craziest thing she's ever done in love, Ridhi didn't sugarcoat her answer. She admitted that she once put herself down in the name of love, something she strongly advises others never to do. 'Apne baare mai, apni self respect k baare mai fikr na kar k, maine beintah pyaar kiya. So I think that's the craziest thing I did for love. Jo kisi ko v nahi karna chahiye. Because it's a downslide.' She added that many people often mistake this behaviour for love, but clarified, 'Yeh pyaar nahi hai.' 'Holi is one of my favourite festivals', says Ridhi Dogra 'Don't walk down that road' Ridhi explained that when someone compromises their self-worth for love, they eventually lose sight of their own identity. She urged people not to walk that path. 'Please apne self-worth, self-respect ki dhajjiyan mat udayi. Because in return you will be left with the feeling of 'Main kaun hu?'' Since her split from Raqesh, Ridhi has kept her personal life away from the public eye and hasn't been linked to anyone romantically. Raqesh, on the other hand, dated Bigg Boss OTT co-contestant Shamita Shetty, but they reportedly parted ways in 2022. Professionally, Ridhi has only soared higher. She made her Bollywood presence felt in big-ticket films like Tiger 3 alongside Salman Khan and Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan, proving she's carved out a space for herself beyond television.

PO on the mic: Singer who called govt house a jail busted after 10 years
1 2 Chandigarh: Declared a proclaimed offender in 2016, Sirsa resident Jagsir Singh evaded police for nine years by constantly changing his location and identity. However, his run ended with a dramatic revelation on Wednesday — he is Punjabi singer Baaz Sran, who just two months ago released a song likening a 'Sarkari Kothi' (govt residence) to a jail. In an irony of sorts, the lyrics of the song 'Sarkari Kothi' — which has 13 lakh views on YouTube — go: 'Jattan di sarkari kothi hundi jail kuddey (The official residence of Jatts is jail, lady).' Sran, who has 32,600 followers on Instagram and has sung duets with female singers like Deepak Dhillon and Gurlez Akhtar, was arrested by the Chandigarh zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the alleged seizure of 36kg opium in 2015. Sran hails from Malikpura village in Haryana's Sirsa district. An official privy to the case said Baaz himself penned the lyrics and composed his songs. In May 2025, NCB published Jagsir's details in leading newspapers and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his arrest. Based on inputs received thereafter, he was arrested on Wednesday, the NCB said in a statement. The statement added: "During his absconding period, he gained popularity as a singer on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, amassing millions of views under a different identity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Learn More - How Donating Plasma May Boost Your Income SpellRock Undo " At the time of his arrest, Sran was accompanied by a woman, said an official. The official added that a co-accused in the opium seizure had already been convicted. The official added that though Sran had was facing a drug seizure case, he did not consume them. "He is a fitness freak. He had just finished running and was exercising when we nabbed him. While he was involved in the drugs case and promotes drugs and weapons in the songs, he himself does not consume drugs," added the official. 'Sarkari Kothi': A song about life of crime In the song 'Sarkari Kothi', Baaz Sran has also penned lyrics about facing charges under the Arms Act and an 'attempt to murder' charge against him. The lyrics go: "25, 54, 59 laggi naal 307 de ni, jail diyaan baahlian likhiyaan karman vich jatt de di (I have been charged with sections 25, 54 and 59, along with Section 307. A long stay in jail is written in Jatt's fate)."
