Pahang Sultan urges swift aid for Temerloh storm victims
The Sultan said only RM300 from the District Disaster Fund (TMD) had been distributed so far, with a remaining RM700 still pending.
'I hope this can be channelled soon. The RM5,000 repair assistance should also be expedited,' he said after visiting and extending aid to the affected residents today.
The assistance was also delivered by Tengku Panglima Raja Brig Jen Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah and Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah.
Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed sympathy to those affected, noting that the disaster struck just three days after Hari Raya Aidiladha.
'It is painful not to be able to celebrate Aidiladha properly, but this is Allah's will. Every hardship has its wisdom and we must remain patient,' he said.
The storm damaged 210 homes across four mukims namely Perak 2, Bangau, Mentakab 1 and Mentakab 2.
The Sultan also extended condolences to the families of two teenage girls killed in a road accident in Temerloh on June 11.
In a separate remark, the Sultan warned against following teachings that have been declared deviant by the Pahang Mufti Department, particularly the Ahmadiah sect.
'Why are there still people trying to spread this? We must hold firm to the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah. This is what we've inherited from our elders and what the majority of Malaysians believe in,' he said.

SANDAKAN: A bushfire involving six acres was reported near the road at Kampung Tinosa 1, Batu 7, here, on Tuesday. A witness alerted the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) at 7.25pm. Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jimmy Lagung said eight personnel were dispatched to the location, some 12km from the station, arriving at 7.38pm. He said the fire team extinguished the blaze using water from the fire engine, portable pumps and fire suppression tools. 'The operation was brought under control at 8.10pm and concluded at 8.28pm,' he added. The firefighters had a tough time because of strong winds, the wide area of bush and inability of their vehicles to get close. Also assisting at the scene were the police and Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel. Jimmy advised the public to cease open burning or engaging in similar activities. Malaysia urges vigilance after Japan issues tsunami advisory
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is closely monitoring the situation following a tsunami advisory issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency after a powerful earthquake struck off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday. In a media statement, the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) said that there are currently no reports of Malaysians affected by the situation. "However, all Malaysians in the affected areas are strongly advised to remain vigilant, follow safety instructions issued by local authorities, and stay updated through official channels," the ministry said. Wisma Putra also advised Malaysians residing in or travelling through the affected areas to register with the embassy and remain in close contact to ensure timely assistance if necessary. Japan on Wednesday issued a tsunami warning for the country's Pacific coast after a magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula in the morning, with waves of up to 50 centimetres recorded in parts of northern and eastern Japan, Kyodo News Agency reported. The Japan Meteorological Agency has warned of tsunami waves of up to three metres reaching areas stretching from Hokkaido in northern Japan to Wakayama Prefecture in the west and the Ogasawara Islands in the south. The warning could remain in effect for the entire day, the agency said. The quake occurred at 8.24am, about 120km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at a depth of about 20km, according to the US Geological Survey.
