Parliament Monsoon Session: INDIA bloc to protest over Bihar voter list revision today
According to the sources, the government has agreed to the opposition's demand to take up the SIR matter in the Lok Sabha Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, signalling a possible floor debate, news agency ANI said.
The opposition is continuously raising questions over transparency and the verification process in the ongoing SIR in Bihar.
Earlier on Monday, both houses of parliament were adjourned several times amid sloganeering by Opposition members demanding a discussion on the ongoing SIR in poll-bound Bihar, as well as other issues of public importance.
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday criticised the Opposition for disrupting the start of a debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, accusing them of making a "U-turn".
Rijiju addressed reporters after both the houses of Parliament got adjourned for the second time amid sloganeering by Opposition members demanding a discussion on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar.
"Opposition has made a U-turn. This will not work. After half an hour, Parliament proceedings will resume. The Defence Minister will open the debate. I urge everyone to listen to him. No Opposition party should speak the language of Pakistan," Rijiju told reporters outside Parliament.
He further said that the opposition is demanding a commitment from the government to discuss the SIR exercise in Bihar after the deliberation concludes on Sindoor.
Rijiju added, "We were all ready for the discussion. 10 minutes before the discussion had to start, the Opposition came up with their agenda that the government should give a line of commitment that, after this, the issue of SIR would be discussed. To bring in a condition just 10 minutes before the discussion is not right."
He also questioned why the Opposition was "running away" from a debate and resorting to disruption instead.

Bengal Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal orders probe into Form 6 disposals; Suvendu calls it ‘scandalous betrayal of democracy'
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal Manoj Agarwal has written to all district administrations directing District Election Officers to form teams of senior officers and conduct sample checking of all Form 6 disposals – which are used to add names to voters' lists – made in the last year. The report is to be submitted to the CEO's office by August 14. In the letter, Agarwal stated: 'It has been revealed during sample checking of disposal of forms received during continuous updation that in some cases provisions of the Registration of Electors' Act, 1960 are not being followed.' The letter further noted: 'Sample checking of less than 1% Form 6 disposals by EROs during continuous updation has revealed that two (2) of them had accepted a considerable number of Form 6 for fictitious voters. In all these cases BLOs verification was dispensed with, without any apparent urgency/requirement and similar documents were captured for a large number of application forms and their verification reports. Both the EROs have since admitted that they had provided user access to the ERO next to the AERO/OC Election in BDO Office/ Casual Data Entry Operators who had thereafter disposed of the Form 6 applications.' The CEO has also directed DEOs to ensure that OC Election staff in BDO offices and casual or daily-wage contractual data entry operators are not involved in the disposal of Forms 6, 7, or 8, or in carrying out any functions in ERONet. Reacting to the letter, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari posted on X: 'This latest memo from the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal to all the District Election Officers (DMs) exposes a scandalous betrayal of democracy.' The CEO's office has already published data from the 2002 Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bengal, sparking speculation that the SIR may begin this August. The vote will be 6-8 months later. We will not be able to do these training [sessions] again,' he said. BJP Raitha Morcha stages protest against urea scarcity in State
BJP members stage a protest in Belagavi on Wednesday against the State government's failure to ensure proper urea supply to farmers. Party leaders said that there has been a large-scale diversion of urea to the black market and that some Ministers and leaders of the ruling party are behind this. The protestors rode bullock carts and tractors from Rani Chennamma Circle to the Deputy Commissioner's office. They raised slogans against the Congress government saying that it is following anti-farmer policies. They sat in protest in front of the office for some time. BJP Raitha Morcha president A.S. Patil Nadahalli said that the Union government has provided adequate stocks of fertilisers but the State government has failed to distribute them properly. He said that a large portion of government stocks have been diverted to the black market where unscrupulous traders are selling them at a premium. He said that the demand for urea has been low in the last few years due to a rainfall deficit of 30%-40%. But, this year, the rainfall has been good and urea demand has naturally risen. Farming activities have picked up pace. But the State government has failed to ensure proper availability of urea. The State government is blind to the fact that urea is being diverted and sold in black. I have information that Ministers are not just oblivious to this but also are actively involved in this malpractice,' he said. He said that the quality of seeds distributed to farmers through the Agriculture Department has remained poor in the last two years. 'This has caused huge losses to farmers whose demand for compensation has not been fulfilled. Spurious seed and fertiliser companies have mushroomed in the State. Their only aim is to bleed the farmers dry. Agriculture Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy does not understand a thing about agriculture. He was supposed to visit various districts to check the crop and sowing pattern but has limited himself to Bengaluru and his native district of Mandya,' he said. 'Farmers have been facing injustice ever since the Congress came to power in the State. It has suspended various schemes like the Raitha Vidyanidhi Yojana, subsidy for agricultural equipment and support price for millet cultivation and others. The State government is not giving its share to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana,' he said. He said that the Union government has provided the required quantity of urea fertiliser to the State during the monsoon season. 'However, more than 2 lakh tonnes of fertiliser is being sold in black. Due to this, farmers are struggling to maintain their crops,' he said. 'Farmers are facing shortage of urea fertiliser during this monsoon season. The State requires 12.88 lakh tonnes of urea during the monsoon season. Out of this, the Centre has allocated 11.73 lakh tonnes based on available stock. Already, 8.73 lakh tonnes have been supplied. But only 5.27 lakh tonnes have reached farmers. The rest has gone to black marketeers,' he said. The former MLAs Sanjay Patil, V.I. Patil, Mahantesh Doddagoudar, party's rural district unit president Subhash Patil, city unit president Geeta Sutar, leaders M.B. Zirali, Murughendragouda Patil, Mahantesh Vakkund and others were present.
