Get ready for another edition of the Midsummer Classic at the friendly confines in 2027.
The Chicago Cubs and MLB announced Friday that the 2027 All-Star Game will take place at Wrigley Field. The game will be played July 13, 2027, as the culmination of All-Star Week festivities.
The 97th edition of the All-Star Game will be the fourth hosted at Wrigley Field. The American League won the previous meetings at iconic stadium in 1947, 1962 and 1990.
"I applaud the Ricketts family, the entire Cubs organization, the City of Chicago and the Chicago Sports Commission for presenting an impressive vision for 2027 All-Star Week," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said. "The hard work put in to transform all of Wrigleyville into an outstanding destination deserves to be celebrated and shared on a national stage.
The 2026 contest will take place at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, to mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. The Phillies' former home, Veterans Stadium, hosted the All-Star Game in 1976 to honor the nation's bicentennial.
"We look forward to bringing the Midsummer Classic back to historic Wrigley Field and working alongside the Cubs, city and state officials, and the local organizing group to bring an extraordinary experience to the baseball fans of Chicago," Manfred added.

Benintendi, Sosa each hit a HR as White Sox beat Angels 6-3

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Andrew Benintendi had a double and a home run, Lenyn Sosa also homered among his two hits, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-3 on Friday night. White Sox starter Shane Smith gave up two runs and two hits while striking out four over 4 1/3 innings in his first start since July 11 following a stint on the 15-day IL. Jordan Leasure (4-6) earned the win in relief, striking out four in 1 2/3 innings. Benintendi and Sosa each hit solo home runs in the second inning off Angels starter Tyler Anderson (2-7), and Luis Robert Jr. had a sacrifice fly drove Miguel Vargas home in the fourth inning to make it 3-0. Gustavo Campero's second home run of the year, a two-run blast to deep center field in the fifth, got the Angels within one, but Colson Montgomery answered with a deep homer of his own in the sixth inning. Logan O'Hoppe scored on Zach Neto's sacrifice fly to bring the Angels within one again, and Nolan Schanuel appeared to drive in Travis D'Arnaud with a two-out single, but Campero was thrown out at third prior to D'Arnaud crossing the plate. Sosa had an RBI single in the eighth and Josh Rojas added a solo homer in the ninth. Steven Wilson got the last six outs for his second save of the year. Key moment Campero's baserunning error prevented the game-tying run from scoring in the seventh, ending what was a bases-loaded, one-out threat for the Angels. Key stat Montgomery continued his second-half tear with a solo home run, which represented his 18th RBI since the All-Star break. He is now tied with Philadelphia's Kyle Schwarber for the most RBIs since the break. Up next White Sox RHP Aaron Civale (2-6, 4.38 ERA) starts opposite Angels RHP Kyle Hendricks (6-7, 4.73). ___ AP MLB:

Rockies' stunning 17-16 comeback win over Pirates highlights huge night for offense across MLB

DENVER (AP) — Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle had a hard time describing what had just taken place after he delivered the crowning blow in perhaps the wildest game of the major league season. Doyle hit a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap Colorado's stunning comeback from a nine-run, first-inning deficit in a 17-16 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night. 'Honestly, pretty speechless,' Doyle told reporters. 'It's hard to put into words. Just so proud of everyone in this clubhouse, never giving up. Man, what a win.' Colorado won despite allowing nine runs during a first inning in which Pittsburgh's Oneil Cruz hit a grand slam and Andrew McCutchen had a three-run homer. According to Elias Sports Bureau and the Rockies were the first team to win after giving up nine runs in the first inning since Cleveland did it in a 15-13, 10-inning triumph over the Kansas City Royals in 2006. Cleveland trailed that game 10-1 after one inning. Back in 1989, the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Pirates 15-11 after falling behind 10-2 in the first inning. The three other occasions in which a team won a game after allowing at least nine runs in the first inning came way back in 1884, 1896 and 1913. 'Getting down nine in the first, it's tough to come back from, but we kept the energy high,' Doyle said. 'We kept the fight in us. Oh my God, what a game.' Colorado scored one run in the bottom of the first, three in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth to cut Pittsburgh's lead to 15-10. The Rockies still trailed 16-10 before scoring two runs in the eighth and five in the ninth. After Pittsburgh's Dennis Santana started the ninth by striking out Ezequiel Tovar, Hunter Goodman's 425-foot homer reduced the Pirates' lead to 16-13. Santana then walked Jordan Beck and allowed an RBI triple to Warming Bernabel. Thairo Estrada singled home Bernabel before Doyle delivered a 406-foot shot to end the game. The events in Colorado highlighted a night full of offense across the majors. According to StatsPerform, Friday marked the first time since June 23, 1930, that three major league games on the same day had at least 25 combined runs. The Miami Marlins erased an early 6-0 deficit and scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the New York Yankees 13-12. The Milwaukee Brewers had 25 hits while trouncing the Washington Nationals 16-9. ___ AP MLB:
