Dakota Johnson's Adorable Photos With Evans & Pascal Has Got Me Envious

Buzz Feed21-05-2025

The world woke up to this photoshoot, and it's fair to say... the internet lost their minds.
Excuse me? That is supposed to be me in the middle of these two hunks.
These three form the cast of the upcoming film Materialists— directed by Celine Song, who won accolades for her 2023 film, Past Lives. The production house A24 released pictures from the press photoshoot—sending everyone (me included) into a jealous frenzy.
The more I look at it, the more I can feel my heart breaking into tiny tiny pieces. Captain America AND The Mandalorian at the same time! The world really is unfair.
The film follows an ambitious young matchmaker in NYC, torn between her perfect soulmate and her imperfect ex.

The chemistry between the trio is bursting through the screen. Clearly, the internet cannot wait to see the magic of Celine Song with this amazing cast.
With 3 weeks remaining, the internet is expecting to see more press interviews and photoshoots—and I do not know if we will be able to handle all of this hotness and tension.
To rouse a little more jealousy in you, here's a behind-the-scenes video of the photoshoot:

Brad Pitt Says ‘My Personal Life Is Always in the News' and It's an ‘Annoyance' to Deal With While Filming: ‘It's Always Been' a ‘Nagging Time Suck'

Brad Pitt graces the latest cover of GQ magazine alongside his 'F1' co-star Damson Idris and producer Lewis Hamilton. The racing movie arrives in theaters this summer after a longer-than-expected production that got shut down for an entire year amid the Hollywood strikes. Pitt was also settling his divorce from Angelina Jolie as 'F1' filming came to an end at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. 'My personal life is always in the news,' Pitt told the publication about filming movies amid public scrutiny. 'It's been in the news for 30 years, bro. Or some version of my personal life, let's put it that way.' More from Variety Brad Pitt to Star in A24's 'The Riders' Adaptation From 'Conclave' Director Edward Berger Tom Cruise Says He and Brad Pitt Would 'Go Drive Go-Karts All Night' During Breaks From 'Interview with the Vampire': 'He's a Very Good Driver' David Fincher to Direct Brad Pitt in 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' Netflix Follow-Up From a Tarantino Script When asked if filming 'F1' acted as a 'refuge' from all the public attention around his personal life, Pitt responded: 'It's been an annoyance I've had to always deal with in different degrees, large and small, as I do the things I really want to do. So, it's always been this kind of nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that. I don't know. I don't know.' 'Mostly I feel pretty… My life is fairly contained,' Pitt added. 'It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my fam, with my knowledge of who I am, that, you know, it's like this fly buzzing around a little bit.' GQ then asked Pitt directly if there is 'relief' now that he is 'on the other side of the divorce finally being finalized,' to which the Oscar winner answered: 'No, I don't think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.' Pitt and Jolie settled their divorce on Dec. 30, 2024 after eight years of legal disputes. Jolie's lawyer, James Simon, said in a statement at the time: 'More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.' The once-Hollywood power couple were at the center of global headlines in 2016 when an alleged physical altercation between them occurred on a private plane. Pitt allegedly 'choked' one of his children, 'struck another in the face' and 'grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her,' per Jolie's lawsuit against Pitt. She filed for divorce a few days after the alleged incident. In April 2024, Jolie's lawyer filed a claim that alleged Pitt's physical abuse 'started well before' the 2016 incident. Pitt had accused Jolie in 2022 of violating 'contractural rights' when she sold her half of their Château Miraval winery without his knowledge. Jolie's lawyers fired back at Pitt in their countersuit, accusing him of not allowing Jolie to sell her half of the winery unless she signed 'a nondisclosure agreement that would have contractually prohibited her from speaking outside of court about Pitt's physical and emotional abuse of her and their children.' With his personal life seemingly on more stable ground and 'F1' arriving in theaters across the world in late June, Pitt seems reinvigorated as an actor. The Oscar winner sparked retirement rumors in 2022 when he said he was on the 'last leg' of his acting career, although he later clarified that still meant he had many years left to explore his craft. 'F1' proved to Pitt that retirement is certainly not imminent. 'Man, I've been doing this for a while and was wondering: Do I have more stories to tell? Do I have anything to add to this? Is there still any excitement I can find from this?' Pitt told GQ. '[This film] just reinvigorated the whole thing again for me.' Pitt's acting career will continue not only with 'F1' this summer but also future film projects such as 'Heart of the Beast,' a Navy SEAL drama that reunites the actor with his 'Fury' director David Ayer, and a 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' sequel in which Pitt will reprise his Oscar-winning role of Cliff Booth for director David Fincher and screenwriter Quentin of Variety 'Harry Potter' TV Show Cast Guide: Who's Who in Hogwarts? Alex Garland Is A Great Choice To Direct The ‘Elden Ring' Movie

The 'Elden Ring' film is to be directed by Alex Garland The A24 film adaptation of Elden Ring is officially moving forward with Alex Garland as writer/director, and the announcement was met with mixed responses on the internet. For some, the prospect of an Elden Ring film doesn't make sense in the first place, while others expressed doubt that Garland was the right man for the job. Elden Ring, the gargantuan, open-world entry in the FromSoft game catalog, is famous for invoking a mood rather than telling a coherent story. That's not to say there is no story in the game—there is, but the game isn't particularly concerned with communicating it clearly to the player. Elden Ring (and the Dark Souls trilogy) are more about vibes—themes of decay, insatiable greed and the terrible, destructive efforts of maintaining an empire in the face of entropy, but the exact details of how these civilizations turned to ruin are often hiding in the shadows. These games do contain strong characters, rich settings, and detailed lore within item descriptions, as well as contextual clues in the landscape. While game franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and The Last Of Us use cinematic cutscenes to tell their stories, Elden Ring uses the strength of the medium, trusting that players will understand something about the story from their experiences. However, players will never really see the full picture, and that's by design. The general online reaction to Garland writing and directing the Elden Ring movie was mixed, but FromSoft fans are likely judging him too harshly. Many film buffs turned on Garland after his misogyny-themed horror film Men proved something of a misfire, while reactions to his most recent film, Civil War, were mixed. Garland may have stumbled here and there, but the man is a gifted storyteller—Garland's first novel was The Beach, a compelling book, remarkable for a first novel. Notably, The Beach tells the story of a failed attempt to build a utopia, a concept that Elden Ring also explores. In fact, several of Garland's films show thematic similarities to FromSoft games. Garland wrote (but did not direct) 28 Days Later and Sunshine, the former depicting an undead apocalypse, and the latter a space crew that flies too close to the sun, leading to madness, delusion and violence. Ex Machina warns against playing God, depicting the dehumanization of a conscious machine by a Silicon Valley sociopath, ending with bloody rebellion. Annihilation tells the story of an alien life that melds itself into the surroundings, tainting everything it touches and merging the boundaries between human, plant, animal and alien entity. Thematically and visually, Annihilation resembles the strange atmosphere of Elden Ring, which contains many hostile landscapes, grotesque human-animal hybrids and otherworldly gods that drive the hapless inhabitants of The Lands Between insane. Garland has talked about how much he loves the Dark Souls games (which are very similar to Elden Ring), and seems to understand why players find them so compelling. However, many FromSoft fans fear that Elden Ring just can't be adapted into a film without losing the elements that make it such a unique experience. There's probably truth to that—these games aren't about protagonists, but Elden Ring is more of a hero's journey than Dark Souls is. It should be noted that legendary game director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who is credited with the success of Dark Souls and Elden Ring, has spoken positively about a potential film adaptation in the past. 'I don't see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example,' Miyazaki told The Guardian. 'But I don't think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that's where a very strong partner would come into play.'

Aubrey Plaza earns standing ovation after first red carpet appearance since husband's death

Aubrey Plaza made a poignant return to the spotlight, walking her first red carpet since the death of her husband in January. The Marin County homeowner attended the Cannes Film Festival last week in support of the new dark comedy 'Honey Don't!' Plaza stars as a cop who falls into a love affair with a small-town private detective, played by Margaret Qualley (' The Substance '), as they investigate 'a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church,' according to the film's synopsis on IMDB. The project also features Chris Evans (who can be seen next month in Celine Song 's 'Materialists'), Charlie Day and Billy Eichner. During its Cannes premiere on Friday, May 23, Plaza and her castmates received a six-minute standing ovation, with one audience member yelling out 'I love you Aubrey' in support of the star, according to Variety. 'More queer cinema all the time,' the film's writer, Tricia Cooke, declared during the applause. 'Honey Don't!' is set to hit theaters Aug. 22, making it Plaza's first feature since her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, committed suicide on Jan. 3. The actor is slowly easing back into the public eye as she heals from the loss. In February, she made a live television appearance during 'SNL50: The Anniversary Special' wearing a pink tie-dyed T-shirt, a fashion statement many considered a tribute to both the hobby Baena took up during the pandemic and their wedding day outfits. A week prior, she starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Ritz Crackers, which was filmed last November. The couple had been together for more than a decade, but split months before Baena's death. He reportedly made 'concerning remarks' to Plaza that prompted her to ask a friend to 'perform a welfare check' on him, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner. Plaza now seems ready to return to work. She recently signed on for a new drama, 'The Accompanist,' in which she'll play a rookie child-welfare agent. The film follows a new foster parent, played by Susan Sarandon, as she takes in a 9-year-old girl after she was nearly killed by her dementia-stricken grandfather.
