PKR Central Election Committee refutes Rafizi's claim on vendor appointment

The Star20-05-2025

JOHOR BAHRU: The PKR Central Election Committee has denied deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's claim that the vendor's appointment to manage the party's election system was not discussed.
PKR Central Election Committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said Rafizi attended the discussion on the appointment of the vendor and auditor held by PKR's Political Bureau and the Central Leadership Council.
"During the discussion, Rafizi did not raise any objections regarding appointing the vendor responsible for the voting system. Most of the concerns were about the auditor's appointment. Nothing was said about the vendor.
"Why is the vendor appointment being questioned after we've already completed divisional-level elections?" she said in a video posted on her Facebook page on Tuesday (May 20).
Speaking at the Jelajah Hidupkan Idealisme Reformasi Dalam Ujian Kuasa in Perak on Monday (May 19), Rafizi, who serves as the Economy Minister, alleged that the vendor managing the party's electoral system was appointed secretly without being discussed by the PKR's Political Bureau.
Dr Zaliha, also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), emphasised that the PKR Central Election Committee should not be dragged into conflicts among candidates contesting in the party's elections for the 2025-2028 term.
She said the committee is an independent body dedicated to ensuring the voting process runs smoothly, in line with the principles of fair and transparent democracy.
"We will ensure that the election process during the congress (PKR Annual Congress) proceeds smoothly. InsyaAllah, we will continue to uphold a fair, clean and transparent process conducted with integrity," she said.
"Campaign healthily and maturely, present your strengths, and demonstrate what you can contribute for the good of the party and to ensure the party remains relevant," she added.
The 2024/2025 PKR Annual Congress, including the congresses for Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) and Wanita PKR, will take place from May 22 to 24, with voting scheduled for May 23. - Bernama

Vertical schools in housing projects to help reduce transport costs, says PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: The integration of a vertical school concept within the Rumah Bakat Madani housing project in Penang is expected to enhance student safety and ease the transportation cost burden on families, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Prime Minister said that incorporating educational elements into residential development is part of the Madani government's initiative to build compassionate neighbourhoods and foster community development based on Madani values. Anwar said this approach underscores the government's commitment to promoting holistic well-being for the people, rather than focusing solely on physical structures and architectural design. "The planned vertical school element, integrated with the housing project, aims to ensure student safety, and I believe it can also help families save on transportation costs,' he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (June 11). He also stressed that the Madani government placed strong emphasis on expediting project approvals through collaboration across ministries, agencies and with the involvement of state governments. Anwar said the project was an initiative involving private developer SkyWorld, aimed at enabling low- and middle-income groups to own affordable homes. "I was informed that the development will also include essential infrastructure and comprehensive facilities such as schools and childcare centres, surau, commercial spaces, as well as landscaped areas and parks,' he said. Earlier, the Prime Minister attended a presentation session on the project concept with the developer's representatives in Putrajaya.- Bernama

MADANI reform agenda alive and advancing

KUALA LUMPUR: The MADANI government has delivered the Parliamentary Services Act 2025 and spearheaded more than 30 legal amendments since 2023, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. 'This is not mere rhetoric. It is concrete evidence that the MADANI Reform agenda is very much alive and advancing,' she said in a Facebook post today. Azalina said she agreed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's statement yesterday that reform efforts should not be rushed, but rather approached as a structured process requiring thorough consideration. 'Systemic reform is never instantaneous, and for good reason. As policymakers, our duty is to ensure that every reform is not only ambitious but also implementable. There is no wisdom in putting the cart before the horse. 'Let's be clear, the #MADANI government has laid the foundations for reform at a pace unmatched by previous administrations. The results speak for themselves. #MADANIBekerja,' she added. She also invited the public to visit the PetaRI portal, developed by the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department at which regularly updates the progress of the reform initiatives.
