The first US-born pope, 69, was greeted by deafening screams from the pilgrims, who had gathered in Italy from nearly 150 countries and spent much of the week living in tents at Tor Vergata.
He led a vigil on Saturday night and yesterday morning returned for a Mass, thought to have been attended by a million people.
In his first big encounter with the next generation of Catholics, the Pontiff spoke in Spanish, Italian and English as he told them: 'Friendship can really change the world.
"Friendship is a path to peace.

'How much the world needs missionaries of the Gospel who are witnesses of justice and peace.'
At the Mass he told his audience they stood alongside the young of Gaza and Ukraine.
Francisco Michel, a pilgrim from Mexico, described the pontiff's arrival as a 'spiritual growth'.
He said: 'It is something spiritual that you can experience only every 25 years.

"As a young person, having the chance to live this meeting with the Pope, I feel it is a spiritual growth.'

I'm a single mum-of-7 to kids aged 1 to 16 – my ‘no spend' summer holiday days are made so much easier with a £5 B&M buy

Scroll down for the full list of places where kids can eat free this summer NO KIDDING I'm a single mum-of-7 to kids aged 1 to 16 – my 'no spend' summer holiday days are made so much easier with a £5 B&M buy A SINGLE mum-of-seven who is aiming to spend no money on some days during the school summer holidays, has revealed the £5 B&M buy that keeps her kids entertained for hours. Amy, who has children aged between one and 16, took to TikTok to share how she is able to keep her kids busy for a whole day without spending any money. "We went for a walk for about an hour and a half and left the teenagers in bed", she said. After returning home, the younger kids played with kinetic sand for half an hour, before the family had lunch. After lunch, Amy took her younger ones out for another walk and her daughters decided to take their B&M Water Blaster backpacks with them. Advertisement The nifty backpacks have water guns attached to them, so kids can have water fights whilst out and about. Amy said she got her kids' pink mermaid backpacks for £5 from the budget store, but online it currently looks like they are only selling Marvel water backpacks, priced at £8.99. Unfortunately, one of Amy's younger daughters was too small for the backpack, but she was happy carrying around a little spray bottle. During their walk, the kids also went to the park, and on a hunt for blackberries to pick. Advertisement They managed to find a whole bush full of ripe berries, took them home and then gave them a good wash, before making a fruit crumble. The kids were happy and entertained for the entire day, and Amy didn't have to spend a single penny. I bought two splash pads from Temu and TikTok shop for £9.99 for my kids to compare - one of them is HUGE for the price The video, posted under the username @singlewithseven, has likely left many impressed, as it has racked up over 24,000 views on the video-sharing platform. I've been celibate for 9 months & it has given me the best sex of my life, I feel like I'm 24 again, says Diana Vickers

Diana also reveals how celibacy has impacted her work and career NO SEX FACTOR I've been celibate for 9 months & it has given me the best sex of my life, I feel like I'm 24 again, says Diana Vickers WHILE some may shy away from questions about their sex life, former X Factor star Diana Vickers positively welcomes them. From discussing the joys of self-pleasure to explaining her recent vow of celibacy, the 34-year-old singer does not hold back. 5 Diana Vickers is one of a growing number of young women embracing a celibate-by-choice lifestyle Credit: Getty 5 Diana has sworn off dating and casual sex Credit: instagram She says: 'Last year I was really trying dating, but it got to November and I said to myself, 'You know what? No. I can't do this any more.' 'I went through last Christmas crying about someone I was dating and finding it really quite an emotional struggle. 'I just couldn't go on like that and I didn't want my mood or energy to be disrupted.' So she decided to give 'dating and casual sex a pause'. Diana, who co-hosts candid new sex and relationships podcast Just Between Us, reveals: 'So it's been nine months of celibacy so far. 'I just wanted to focus on me and my work and, actually, I've had one of the best years of my career so far.' Having shot to fame on the 2008 series of The X Factor, Diana is one of a growing number of young women embracing a celibate-by-choice lifestyle. According to a 2024 survey, only 38 per cent of single women are actively seeking relationships, compared with 61 per cent of single men. Social media is helping to drive the voluntary celibacy movement, with #celibacy posts having more than 195million views online. Many in Gen Z claim that saying no to nookie has helped improve their focus, health and energy levels. Diana Vickers goes topless to show off sunburn after 'drinking three bottles of wine at 11am in the sun' on holiday One-night stands have also dramatically fallen from favour. Earlier this year, a YouGov poll found that 62 per cent of Gen Z swerve no-strings sex — a 16 per cent drop on 20 years ago. Diana is not at all surprised. She says: 'Even casual sex can be quite vulnerable. "People say it's casual, but sometimes it may not be. 'It can bring up emotional things, or you could get attached. 'So I just don't even risk anything for a chocolate biscuit.' But that doesn't mean she is missing out in the bedroom. Quite the opposite, as Diana recently revealed she is 'having the best sex with myself'. She said on her podcast: 'If you are pleasuring yourself and enjoying that and finding out what you love, it's really liberating. 'I'm having a really good time with myself at the moment.' 'SEXUAL BEING' Given that only 41 per cent of men aged 18-24 are able to locate a woman's clitoris, according to one survey, is it any wonder that younger women are dissatisfied? Like Diana, many are now relying on themselves, or sex toys, for pleasure. 'I think it's really badass,' she says of the rise in gadget use, adding that she might, like fellow singer Lily Allen, launch her own range in the future. Stating that self-pleasure is 'really, really important', especially when you are not in a relationship, she says: 'You can have a great sexual relationship with yourself. 'It reminds you that you are a sexual being.' On her new podcast, which she hosts with sex and love columnist Alice Giddings, no topic is off limits. From wild dating disasters to heartwarming tales of romance, the pair cover the lot. Diana says: 'There was a guy that cheated on a girl and said they were exclusive. "And then he chose to hide a used condom under a pillow in their bed. Oh my God.' 5 Diana shot to fame on the 2008 series of The X Factor Credit: Handout But it is the conversations around female fulfilment that are truly eye-opening. 'I think that women are a lot more emotional when it comes to that sort of thing,' Diana explains. 'We need a lot more different stimulation. "A lot of it is foreplay and a lot of that is to do with emotion and feeling connected. 'With pornography these days, it's being performed in a certain way. It's actually really incorrect. 'It's giving young people false expectations of what sex is and how it's done. 'I think that is something that a lot of women and men need to be educated about.' A recent study by the Journal of Sex Research found that 18 per cent of women fake orgasms, while 34 per cent admitted to having done so in the past. Diana says: 'A lot of women lie about having orgasms because they feel bad and they don't want to go there. It's a shame. 'But I have faked an orgasm. I wasn't really drunk — I just wanted to get it over and done with. People have an opinion on a woman even talking about sex. And that's really not progressive Diana Vickers 'But I do think a lot of it is about communication and the porn out there doesn't help and we need to talk more about female pleasure.' Despite living in what seems like a more open age, Diana still thinks there is much more work to be done in talking about sex. She says: 'I noticed that when I even talk about not having sex, I still get people commenting and being like, 'Oh God'. 'People have an opinion on a woman even talking about sex. And that's really not progressive.' Beyond the bedroom, Diana is embracing her thirties and feels no pressure to settle down. 'I still feel like I'm 24,' she says. 'I'm not freaking out just yet.' She adds that she likes how women are now 'more career-driven and having babies later'. She says: 'What's really great about now is that we have so many different ways that we can live our lives. "There are so many unconventional families in 2025.' 5 Diana hosts podcast Just Between Us with Alice Giddings Credit: Supplied 5 She says it's the perfect place for people looking for advice on sex or dating Credit: Getty For those looking for honest advice on sex, dating dilemmas, or just a good old giggle, Diana believes her podcast is just the place, saying: 'Hopefully listeners will find it a really safe space and they'll resonate with some things that are said. 'I don't want it to be taboo for women to talk about sex and their needs and hopefully men can still come there. 'It's a place with a good vibe, cosy and warm, with humour — but with real people with real problems.'

One of Norris' relationships was subject to abuse from trolls BACK ON TRACK Inside Lando Norris' love life, from 'multiple girlfriends' to rekindling with on-off partner who dated ex-Prem star LANDO NORRIS has started the latest chapter of his whirlwind romantic life after getting back together with Margarida Corceiro. The pair have had an on-off relationship but were seen sharing a kiss following his win at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday. Norris and Corceiro, 22, previously dated for a year from around May 2023. She was first spotted back on the scene this year, supporting him from the McLaren garage at the Monaco Grand Prix at the end of May where he secured a glittering win. Norris, 25, and Corceiro's first spell together came shortly after the model had just split from Chelsea star Joao Felix. Advertisement Their relationship split at the time when the Portuguese footballer's initial loan spell at Stamford Bridge came to an end last year. Norris and Corceiro were then seen at the Monte Carlo Masters final in April 2024, although there was no official confirmation of their relationship. The romance was short-lived however and in August 2024 Norris said he was single. That was the case for much of 2024 although Norris joked he had "many girlfriends" when taking a lie detector test in an interview. Advertisement Asked if he had a girlfriend, the McLaren driver said: "No," which came up true on the test. The host then asked: "Do you have many girlfriends?" Their relationship began in 2021, before being made public in January 2022 through an Instagram post. The couple was often seen together at public events and featured on each other's social media accounts. Norris and Oliveira were in a relationship from August 2021 to September 2022, with the influencer subject to abuse from trolls Advertisement Luisinha even suffered death threats, with Norris saying at the time: 'Whether it's about my personal life, me and my girlfriend, especially the amount of hate pages dedicated to Luisa now, it is pretty horrific.
