New Harry Potter star's little-known TV past and where you've seen them before
HBO has announced the next trio to take on the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley for the upcoming TV series as one already has an acting past
Harry Potter fans have been introduced to the next trio taking over the iconic roles for the TV remake - and one actor has been on screens before. After months of waiting, HBO have confirmed who will be taking on Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
The three young actors are Dominic McLaughlin, who will be playing Harry Potter, while Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout will be starring as Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley respectively.
Harry Potter's executive producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod said in a statement that they are "delighted" to reveal new stars after an "extraordinary search", which began back in September last year.
Based on JK Rowling's hit novels, the TV series will be a faithful adaptation of the books, according to HBO. While the trio have been dubbed as newcomers, many fans have been stunned to find out they have seen Hermione's actress before.
Following in the footsteps of Emma Watson, who landed the mega role when she was 11-years-old, Arabella has already had a taste of the small screen.
She has featured on both television and in theatre after studying at some of the country's most well respected acting schools. Arabella, who also goes by Bella, began her career at Aldance, a studio in Bracknell that offers dancing classes for children from 18 months to adulthood.
She then moved onto the prestigious British Theatre Academy and the Guildford School of Acting. In 2013, Bella landed her first role when she was cast as the star character Matilda in the West End production, Matilda The Musical.
The actress was the production's youngest cast member as she took on the six-month acting period in September 2023. She even featured on BBC's The One Show for World Book Day as Matilda.
Bella impressed on the stage and helped to land her the part of Control in Andrew Lloyd Webber's 2024 London revival of Starlight Express.
Acting isn't Bella's only enjoyment as she plays hockey for her local club and spends time skiing and horse riding. The young star also competes in swimming galas and triathlons and can even play the clarinet.
Fans have also noticed Bella has a striking resemblance to Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega. The American actress was a child star in Jane The Virgin and shot to stardom thanks to her Netflix role as Wednesday Addams.
Many fans pointed out their similar looks as one said: "Arabella Stanton looks like young Jenna Ortega or is it only me??? Hermoine in HBO's #HarryPotter series."
Another added: "Arabella Stanton looks like a young Jenna Ortega." Someone else commented: "Arabella who? That's clearly a young Jenna Ortega."
When announcing the trio, Harry Potter's executive producers said: "The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.
"We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.'

Jade Thirlwall takes aim at JK Rowling in explosive outburst as fans join chant
Jade Thirlwall has made her views on Harry Potter author JK Rowling very clear as she led thousands of festival-goers in an explosive chant at Mighty Hoopla Jade Thirlwall took aim at Harry Potter author JK Rowling in an explosive outburst. The former Little Mix singer who has now ventured out as a solo artist under the name JADE made her presence known as she took to the stage at Mighty Hoopla festival on Saturday. The 32-year-old has always been a vocal ally of the LGBTQ+ community and often uses her platform to praise the community and raise awareness of causes around it. But as she took to the Mighty Hoopla stage on Saturday, Jade took aim at people whom she believes have voiced their opposition to the community. While performing her track F*** You For Now (FUFN), Jade encouraged the sold-out crowd of 30,000 to join in with her chant. Speaking to the fans, Jade said: "I want you to put your middle fingers up in the air and I'm going to name some things and some people and I want you to shout, 'F*** you' back to me." She went on to list people who she claims are homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic. Turning to the crowd she yelled: "J.K. Rowling..." as the fans screamed: "F*** you." Jade's comments were met with a mixed response on social media. One user said: "Nah Jade you're wrong for this." A second ask: "What did J.K. Rowling do?" Meanwhile, another penned: "What's J.K. Rowling done wrong to Jade? What have I missed?" But some leapt to defend Jade, with one writing: "Jade the icon you are." A second supporter of Jade went on to say: "We love Jade!! A true North East girlie." "She is the biggest ally and I love her so much," added another. J.K., whose real name is Joanne Rowling, has strongly denied being transphobic. The author, 59, first made comments about trans people six years ago and has since stood strong in her belief that they pose a threat to women in same sex spaces, such as toilets. Earlier this month, the author posted to her 14.3 million followers on X, formerly known as Twitter, that "nobody sane believes, or has ever believed that humans can change sex, or that binary sex isn't a material fact." Jade's comments come after she joined 400 UK artists and music industry workers signing an open letter pledging solidarity with the trans community. Following the UK Supreme Court's ruling, the trans community and allies have stormed social media to protest the exclusion of trans people from single sex spaces. Titled the 'Open Letter of solidarity to the trans community from the UK Music Industry,' the letter highlights the impact made on the trans, non-binary, and intersex communities following the Supreme Court ruling. Last week, Jade performed her first solo festival slot – and headlined the Future Sounds Stage at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Liverpool's Sefton Park. A source at the event said: "Jade was blown away by how many people packed into the tent. She was a member of the biggest girl band from the UK after the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud, but as her first solo show, she told the crowd it was an 'insane crowd' and she couldn't believe it. "She thanked the crowd and herself, but not swearing. She told fans that Angel of My Dreams came after she was struggling".

JoJo Siwa sets sights on another huge UK reality show amid Chris Hughes romance
Singer JoJo Siwa will be spending more time in the UK as she prepares to film the latest celebrity version of a hit Channel 4 reality show - while her romance with Chris Hughes continues JoJo Siwa will soon be back on British TV screens as she has reportedly signed up to take part in another iconic UK reality show. The 22-year-old American singer boosted her profile on the opposite side of the Atlantic in April when she was a contestant on ITV's Celebrity Big Brother. Now it has been reported that JoJo will be popping up on Channel 4 and testing out her cooking skills as a contestant on a celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off. The celebrity version of the show is part of Channel 4's annual Stand up to Cancer content. A source said:"This is a bit of a coup for the Bake Off because Jojo is currently one of the most talked about young stars on TV right now. "She's barely had time to catch her breath, leaving CBB last month amid huge media attention and heading straight into another huge show this month. "It's also a fantastic gig for her because although she already has a fanbase over here, the cookery contest also introduces her to a wider British audience. Plus she got plenty of experience of cooking in front of the cameras while she was on Celebrity Big brother, though this time she won't have hunky Chris to distract her," they added to The Sun. The American singer got her first break on a reality show in the USA. The star was just 9 years old when she appeared on Dance Moms in 2015, and she appeared on the show across seasons five and six. Earlier this year, she saw her star power rise in the UK as she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother. While she entered the iconic reality show house as taken - she was dating Australian influencer Kath Ebbs - but fans were stunned to see her grow close to Love Island star Chris Hughes while in the house. When the show ended, Kath stunned fans when they revealed JoJo had dumped them at the wrap party. Weeks later, JoJo and Chris appeared to confirm that they had embarked on a romance of their own. Snaps emerged of the singer kissing the 32-year-old British reality star while they were on holiday together in Mexico. They have been gushing over each other via social media comments in the subsequent weeks. Chris recently posted - and swiftly deleted - a steamy bedroom snap of himself with JoJo over the weekend, leaving fans convinced it is proof of their romance. They have enjoyed meals out, bowling, time with family and have made sure to get plenty of moments alone. On Saturday, Chris took a selfie as he kissed JoJo's forehead while tucked up in bed together. Dance Moms star JoJo snuggled into Chris' chest with her eyes closed as the reality star gushed: "Sleeping beauty." The photo wasn't up on Chris' page for long as it was soon deleted. However, it was too late to hide any evidence as many fans, who have been rooting for the couple, were able to screenshot the photo and share it amongst each other.
