Harry Potter fans gobsmacked as actor who played Crabbe looks so different nowadays
In honour of International Harry Potter Day, we've looked at the cast now compared to when they were filming the movies in the early 2000s and some members have changed significantly
Harry Potter fans have taken a look at some of the cast members when they were filming the hit movie series compared to now and all said the same thing. Today (Friday, May 2) marks International Harry Potter Day, founded by David Cameron, the Prime Minister at the time in 2012.
It was declared an official international holiday to honour the work of J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books which were later adapted into movies, starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001. As it is International Harry Potter Day, it is fitting to look back at some of the stars of the films.
A TikTok account called Harry Potter Lore posted a video on the platform featuring Jamie Waylett (Vincent Crabbe), Josh Herdman (Gregory Goyle), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory).
But it was one cast member that really caught people's attention. Many fans in the comment section thought Waylett now looks like American rapper and singer Post Malone.
One fan said: 'First dude turned into Post Malone.' Another humorously asked: 'Since when was Post Malone in Harry Potter?'
A third echoed: 'Why does Crabbe look like Post Malone now?' A fourth commented: 'Young Post Malone in Harry Potter?'
A fifth chimed in: 'The first one became Post Malone?' The TikTok clip includes a picture of Waylett, now 35-years-old, dressed in his Hogwarts uniform in 2003.
In the Harry Potter series he played Crabbe, son of a Death Eater and a member of Slytherin House who was part of Draco Malfoy's gang. His role in Harry Potter is his only film role to date and he featured in six of the eight movies.
Despite having the world at his feet, his life took a dark turn that seems to have put a halt to his acting career.
In 2009, he lost his role in the cult franchise after he was caught growing cannabis plants in his home. He was sentenced to 120 hours community service and it marked the beginning of the end of his time on screen.
Worse was still to come. He was jailed for two years in 2012 after being found guilty of violent disorder when he swigged from a bottle of Champagne stolen during the London riots. He was pictured holding a petrol bomb, though he was cleared of intending to destroy or damage property.
In recent times, however, Jamie has taken steps towards rebuilding his life. He has been spotted offering personal video messages on the popular celebrity website, Cameo, for fans and loved ones.

Sabrina Carpenter fans are 'missing point' of controversial new album cover
Fans of singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter have been left divided after she shared the cover art for her upcoming album, Man's Best Friend, which will be released in August When Sabrina Carpenter unveiled her upcoming album's cover, set for release this summer, it instantly ignited a storm of controversy about its underlying message – but some music fans argue that critics are "missing the point". The diminutive songstress has carved out a niche with her infectious tunes that cleverly weave satire and societal observations, all delivered in her distinctively bold and risqué pop princess style. The 26-year-old songbird has been navigating the music scene for more than 10 years, with her first album dropping in 2015. However, it was her fifth studio offering, Emails I Can't Send, released in 2022, that began turning heads on a larger scale. Her 2024 hit track, Espresso, fully propelled her into the limelight and secured her position as a pop star. Her sixth album, Short n' Sweet, soon followed and took the music world by storm – clinching the top spot on the Billboard 200 and earning her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2025. Recently, the singer confirmed on Instagram with a duo of pictures that her latest album, Man's Best Friend, is slated for an August 29 release. The album cover features Sabrina down on her knees with what seems to be a man's hand gripping her hair. Accompanying this is a second photo, which zooms in on a blonde puppy sporting a light blue dog collar adorned with a gold heart, etched with the album's name. The controversial announcement has raked in more than four million likes so far but it's sparked a deluge of comments from people upset by Sabrina's perceived submission in the first image, especially during such a politically tumultuous time for women. Instagram users flooded the comments with their thoughts. One said: "Love Sabrina - but this picture - why is the man in there like that? It's not a very empowering image for women." Another voiced their confusion: "Explain to me again how this isn't centering men? How this isn't catering to the male gaze?" A third remarked: "Okay - it's sarcastic? Satire? Art? Symbolism? But what about the men or boys who see this on billboards, on Instagram, in music promos - and consciously or not, internalise that this is what power looks like: a man objectifying a woman. Does that image challenge objectification or reinforce it?" TikTok pop culture commentator Holden Smith – who boasts 178,000 followers – labelled the debate over the album artwork "so wild". In a widely viewed video, Smith said: "To me, it just felt very 'Sabrina'. 'Man's best friend' is a dog, a female dog is also called a b***h. "Sabrina on all fours, with a man pulling her hair, is feeding into that. I believed, in a cheeky way." The content creator then addressed some of the extreme reactions and continued: "There are a lot of social media comments saying that this is extremely degrading and that she has set women back hundreds of years and, to me, that is a crazy statement." Holden speculated: "Sabrina could also be using the cover to hold a mirror up to the public and say, 'this is how you guys are saying that you see me, for the male gaze rather than for the female gaze'." Smith then said: "I found it extremely interesting that this is the main conversation around her new album. As someone who was the breakout artist of the year last year, who truly got, like, no negative press; this switch up feels kind of crazy - especially when she's giving us a second album in two years." Holden expressed disappointment that the album announcement wasn't met with joy, noting it "felt like it should be a crazy happy announcement" rather than sparking intense debate over its cover. Sabrina, who doesn't shy away from expressing her sexuality and sense of fun, has yet to elaborate on the provocative choice of imagery for her latest album.

Chicago, Nashville and NYC rank among the best music cities in the world
Move over, Eurovision—America's music cities are staging their own global takeover. A new report from SeatPick ranks the world's best cities for music lovers, and three U.S. heavyweights made the top 10: Chicago (#3), Nashville (#5) and New York City (#7). Each scored high for concerts, venues and local talent, but with distinct vibes and sonic histories. Chicago, home to more than 1,800 local artists and 1,000 concerts a year, took bronze overall. That's no surprise for a city that gave the world house music, electric blues and a jazz scene so strong it rivals New Orleans. With nearly 300 music businesses driving the engine, the Windy City's sound is as deep as its dish. Nashville, of course, had to show up. The self-proclaimed 'Music City' scored big with the second-highest number of music businesses (344), reflecting a tight-knit industry presence. While it ranked lower in concert volume (just 890 shows), Nashville's studio-to-stage pipeline and influence on American music are unmatched. And then there's New York, which slid into seventh place. It may have fewer venues and festivals than Berlin or Vienna, but NYC is basically the blueprint when it comes to cultural impact. Hip-hop, punk, disco, salsa, bebop and Broadway? All born here. Its 3,219 homegrown artists were the most of any city surveyed—because, well, of course they were. 'Recent reports show that live music ticket sales are forecast to continuously increase until 2029, by 34 percent. Music ticket sales are therefore a driving force in the growth of the music industry, and are expected to continue to be highly in demand,' said Gilad Zilberman, CEO of SeatPick. 'For this reason, concerts, festivals and venues are crucial to each city's music scene and its ability to thrive and provide the highly demanded entertainment that the music industry offers.' The rankings come as the music tourism market is exploding, projected to hit $267.85 billion by 2030. As tours get bigger and fans go further for the live experience, cities like Chicago and Nashville are becoming major travel destinations, not just music capitals.

Vernon Kay's 'dream' dashed by wife Tess Daly as she puts her foot down
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vernon Kay joked that wife Tess Daly won't "allow" him to get a sit-on lawnmower so that he can fulfil his "dream" of recreating an iconic moment from a Hollywood movie. The BBC Radio 2 presenter told listeners he wants to emulate Tom Hanks' iconic Forrest Gump by investing in a sit-on lawnmower. In the cult-classic Forrest can be seen riding around an American football field on a mower. The 51-year-old broadcaster told his audience that Tess has let him get a lawnmower after he fixed their garden strimmer. It has led Vernon to wonder what other garden equipment he could invest in. Speaking on Radio 2, he said: "I managed to get the strimmer working again, so all this week I will be strimming the borders of the garden. Not yet purchased a lawnmower. "On Friday I finished the show by saying Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly's allowing me to get a lawnmower and I can't wait. I've been doing that thing where you literally peruse lots of websites about garden machinery. (Image: Getty Images) "Goodness me, there's a lot of stuff out there that I didn't realise I needed. I think with this acceptance from Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly's that we do need a lawnmower that I might, somehow, be able to fulfil my Forrest Gump dreams. "Sit on a lawnmower and just mow the lawn." Imitating the iconic character, Vernon added: "I enjoyed it so much, I did that job for free." Before the presenter added: "That's going to be me, I can't wait. I don't think she'll let me have a sit on one though." Vernon and Tess's romance blossomed despite their early days on opposing TV networks, with Vernon at Channel 4's T4 and Tess presenting SMTV on ITV. Their love story transcended network rivalry as they quickly fell for each other. Tess, 56, has openly talked about their "immediate" connection and how much fun they had together. (Image: (Image: INSTAGRAM/VERNONKAY)) Vernon proposed on Christmas Day in 2002 amidst festive celebrations at Tess's family home. The celebrity couple tied the knot at St Mary's Church in Horwich, Vernon's birthplace, followed by a reception at Rivington Hall Barn. Their family life now includes daughters Amber, 15, and Phoebe, 20, with the four residing in a stunning six-bedroom Buckinghamshire home. This lavish residence features a converted shed-turned-home gym, festooned with football memorabilia, and its own private swimming pool. Plans for relocation to a four-bedroom property faltered as the couple faced a rejection of their planning application. 2023 saw Vernon step into the spotlight as he took the reins of his mid-morning Radio 2 show, following in the footsteps of Ken Bruce. He now commands an audience of approximately 6.73 million daily listeners as the host of the station's iconic programme.
