LPG Supply: Trouble Ahead As Distributors Threaten Strike If Demands Not Met
The LPG Distributors Association has threatened an indefinite countrywide strike if their demands, including higher commission, are not met in three months. Such a strike would potentially disrupt home delivery of gas cylinders.
In a press release following the national convention of the association in Bhopal, its president, BS Sharma, said: 'A proposal has been approved by the members from various states about the charter of demands. We have also written to the Petroleum of National Gas Ministry about the demands of LPG distributors. The present commission being given to LPG distributors is very low and it is not commensurate with the operational cost," he said.
As per the letter to the Union government, the commission on LPG distribution should be increased to at least Rs 150.
'LPG supply is based on demand and supply. But oil companies are forcibly sending non-domestic cylinders to distributors without any demand, which is against legal provisions. It should be stopped immediately. There are also problems in the distribution of Ujjwala Scheme LPG cylinders," the letter said.
If the demands are not met in three months, then the LPG Distributors Association will go on an indefinite countrywide strike, the letter warned.

Kiren Rijiju: New tax bill has essence of original bill
NEW DELHI: Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday addressed concerns about the new income tax bill, set to be introduced in Lok Sabha on Monday, stressing that it has incorporated all the amendments suggested by the select committee and accepted by the govt, maintaining the essence of the original bill. "The hard work done in the last six months and suggestions will be reflected in the new Income Tax Bill, 2025 which the finance minister will be introducing on Monday," Rijiju said. "Thereafter, the amendment is moved for consideration by LS. Then on the House agreeing to the amendment, the amendment is to be considered again as part of the bill. Thus, for each amendment three motions are to be moved," the Union minister added.
