ABU DHABI (WAM)The UAE Ministry of Defence today inaugurated the Scientific Conference on Physical Readiness of Land Forces in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, at Erth Hotel in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of senior military officials, experts and specialists from across the region. The opening ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Staff Mohammed Khamis Al Hassani, Deputy Commander of the UAE Land Forces, alongside a number of senior officers and officials, underscoring the importance of strengthening GCC integration in military fitness and combat readiness. The conference sessions will address several key themes, including environmental challenges in military training, mental health, injury prevention, and the use of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in physical rehabilitation programmes. It will also showcase successful case studies and practical experiences. The agenda features specialised workshops and lectures focused on improving physical assessment efficiency and fostering cooperation among GCC member states to support the strategic objectives of regional land forces.
The conference runs until 25th April 2025, with the goal of producing unified developmental frameworks for combat and fitness readiness, and advancing defence integration across the GCC.

The support has also included operating bakeries and community kitchens serving thousands of families, alongside initiatives to alleviate hunger, as well as providing essential support for children. The UAE has extended its assistance to the healthcare sector, supplying hospitals, international organisations and medical institutions with medical supplies, while also establishing field hospitals in Rafah and Al Arish to offer emergency treatment and care for patients and the injured. In addition, support covered infrastructure and essential services, including projects to drill wells, maintain water pipelines and launch the Lifeline Water Supply Project, designed to ensure reliable water sources for displaced populations, reflecting the values symbolised by Zayed Humanitarian Day. Despite the difficulties in bringing aid into Gaza, the UAE has continued its humanitarian response. Food was purchased from local markets to help families and keep community kitchens operating for thousands of displaced people. The Birds of Goodness operation was also launched, showing determination to deliver assistance in challenging conditions and highlighting the UAE's ongoing humanitarian commitment.

14 Aug 2025 18:41 GAZA (WAM)The UAE, in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the Gaza Strip, has delivered a shipment of medicines and medical supplies to the health sector, as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight aid will be distributed to hospitals and medical facilities to help address acute shortages and strengthen their ability to respond to emergencies. Among the recipients was Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, which received several truckloads carrying essential medicines and critical delivery aims to boost the hospital's capacity to handle urgent cases at a time when it is facing severe shortages of medicines and Director for Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 in Gaza, Sharif Al-Nayrab, reaffirmed that the UAE continues to provide medical aid and pharmaceuticals to the Gaza Strip under the initiative to prevent the collapse of the healthcare system and alleviate the suffering of hospitals and medical teams (EMT) coordinator at WHO, Heba Alnajjar, stated that the organisation delivered the shipment to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, containing all essential and currently unavailable medicines in Gaza's health expressed hope for continued cooperation and the entry of more UAE aid to support the health of the Palestinian Aid Delivering Committee at the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Farra, described the UAE's assistance as a 'lifeline' for all patients, noting that the continued supply of medicines and medical equipment revitalises hospitals and helps save the lives of the sick and wounded. The delivery is part of an ongoing series of aid shipments scheduled for the coming period, as part of the UAE's sustained efforts through Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 to ease the health crisis in Gaza and ensure the continuity of medical services.
