Pawan Kalyan Breaks Silence On Quitting Films For Politics: ‘Won't Act But…'
Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan has clarified his future in cinema following his appointment as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in June 2024. Amid ongoing criticism over juggling his administrative responsibilities with film commitments, the Jana Sena Party chief has now addressed concerns and revealed where his priorities lie.
In an interview with ABN, Kalyan said that although he attempted to complete his pending films before the elections, unforeseen political developments delayed the process. 'When I signed these three films, I had planned to complete them before the elections. However, I lost crucial time before the elections due to some political incidents," he explained. 'I asked the producers of all three films to forgive me because I needed a few more days to complete the films. Even after I came into power, I took time to shoot for films and only did it for two hours a day."
Kalyan is currently wrapping up work on three major films: Hari Hara Veera Mallu, They Call Him OG, and Ustaad Bhagat Singh. He confirmed that he has not taken on any new acting projects. 'I have completed shooting for OG and have around five days left to complete Ustaad Bhagat Singh. I will definitely not act anymore if I have political clashes because my priority is the administration and the Janasena Party," he stated.
While distancing himself from acting, Kalyan hinted at continuing in the film industry in a different role. 'I need cinema for my financial sustenance. So, I will look to producing films in the future. Even if I do act, it will only be for two hours per day. But right now, I haven't signed any more films."
Among his upcoming releases, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, in production for over five years, will hit theatres on July 24, with paid premieres on July 23. Directed by Krish and Jyothi Krisna, the historical action drama stars Bobby Deol and Nidhhi Agerwal alongside Kalyan. Meanwhile, OG is helmed by Sujeeth, and Ustaad Bhagat Singh is directed by Harish Shankar.

Pamela Anderson Talks About Playing Femme Fatale In The Naked Gun: 'I Work A Lot On…'
Last Updated: The Naked Gun reboot, starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, hits Indian theatres on August 1, 2025. Anderson reflected on how she prepped for her part. The iconic spoof-comedy The Naked Gun is making a comeback with a fresh reboot, and this time, Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson are taking the lead. Hitting Indian theatres on August 1, 2025, the film blends modern humour with nostalgic callbacks to the beloved original. Anderson spoke about how she prepped for her character. Liam Neeson stars as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the well-meaning but clumsy son of the original detective, while Pamela Anderson steps into the role of Beth Davenport, a femme fatale with wit and edge — drawing inspiration from Priscilla Presley's iconic character. Anderson revealed that she approached Beth with care and nuance. 'I work a lot on the character before I even get to set. I bring a lot with me and then stay flexible to collaborate with the director," she said, adding that her preparation remains the same whether it's a dramatic film or a high-energy comedy. Her collaboration with director Akiva Schaffer helped shape the character's emotional core. 'Akiva is very scientific with the jokes, but I really wanted to bring honesty, authenticity, and even some vulnerability to the role," she explained. 'It was a true collaboration, and I think there are some very sincere and tender moments you wouldn't typically expect in a film like this." Her co-star Liam Neeson also spoke about their collaboration. He told Gulf News, 'I love the fact that I didn't know Pamela's history. I was aware of Baywatch many years ago. I didn't avidly watch it, but I knew of its popularity. Pamela has a terrific sense of humour. There were no airs and graces, none of that nonsense. She was there to act and to work. She was very available, and I really enjoyed her company. We had a few giggles between takes." Watch the trailer of The Naked Gun here: As the franchise returns to the big screen with a new cast and tone, Pamela Anderson's grounded take on her character might just add a surprising emotional depth to all the laughs. The Naked Gun is directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and from producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy). Joining the cast are Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston. If I weren't around, India would be fighting Pakistan, claims Trump
London, Jul 28 (PTI) US President Donald Trump on Monday claimed, yet again, that if he had not intervened in time with a threat of stopping all trade negotiations, India and Pakistan would have been at war. Addressing the media in Scotland, along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer ahead of their official talks, Trump took credit for stepping in to prevent 'six major wars" around the world, including between India and Pakistan. He was responding to a question about pushing Israel towards ending the conflict in Gaza just hours after ceasefire talks with Hamas collapsed. 'We have many ceasefires going on… If I weren't around, you would have six major wars going on – India would be fighting with Pakistan," Trump said while addressing the media from his Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire, Scotland. 'We have many hotspots that were at war. I think a very big one was India and Pakistan because you are talking about two nuclear nations. That was a very big one," said Trump, who is on a private visit to Scotland since Friday. Trump said, 'I know the leaders of Pakistan and India. I know (them) very well. And they're in the midst of a trade deal, and yet they're talking about nuclear weapons… this is crazy. So, I said I'm not doing a trade deal with you guys. And they want the trade deal, they need it. '[I said] I'm not doing a trade deal with you if you're going to have war, and that's a war that spreads to other countries, you'll get nuclear dust. We'll all get nuclear dust. 'When they start using nuclear weapons, that stuff blows all over the place and really bad things happen. So maybe we're being a little selfish when we want to save wars too. But we stopped a lot of wars and it's a great honour to have done it." India has repeatedly refuted claims of any mediation during Operation Sindoor, its military action in response to a Pakistan-backed deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The precision strikes lasted between May 7 and 10, with New Delhi maintaining that they came to an end following direct talks between the militaries of both countries without any US mediation.
