LISSUN Acquires US-Based Being Cares to Expand AI-Powered Mental Health Solutions

LISSUN has announced the acquisition of US-based mental wellbeing startup
Being Cares Inc.
The acquisition is indicated to include Being's full team and intellectual property, bringing its AI-powered mental health mapping technology under LISSUN's umbrella.
It is stated that Being's technology maps over 2,500 causes and effects to address more than 40 mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, burnout, and parenting stress.
LISSUN is indicated to extend this model to child-centric concerns like autism, ADHD, speech delays, and learning challenges.
The integration aims to combine LISSUN's therapist-led approach with Being's AI-driven capabilities to deliver hyper-personalized care across all life stages. The platform will now offer families real-time progress tracking,
personalized therapeutic activities
, and milestone mapping—using insights from thousands of therapy sessions.
Being's co-founders have joined LISSUN's leadership: Varun Gandhi as Chief Product Officer and Abhishek Sharma as Chief Technology Officer.
LISSUN currently operates 20 Sunshine Centres and plans to scale to over 200 in the next 2–4 years.
According to the company, its AI assistant, Ray, is also set to expand engagement with families through platforms like WhatsApp. LISSUN will continue offering support across home, school, and clinical settings, ensuring accessible care throughout a family's mental health journey.
The company has also expressed interest in partnering with or supporting early-stage startups working on innovative mental health solutions.

WhatsApp Launches New Safety Tool, 6.8 Million Scam Centre Accounts Banned
New Delhi: WhatsApp has launched a new 'safety overview', which will alert a user when someone not in their contact list adds them to a new WhatsApp group that they may not recognise, as Meta's messaging platform intensified its crackdown on scams and fraud. The safety overview will contain key information about the said group and tips to stay safe, it said. "From there, you can exit the group without ever having to look at the chat. And if you think you might recognise the group after seeing the safety overview, you can choose to see the chat for more context," according to WhatsApp. And notifications from the group will be silenced until the user marks that they do wish to stay. Meta's messaging platform further said it is exploring ways to caution users when they start a chat with someone not in their contacts by showing more context about the person they are messaging. This, it hopes, will enable informed decisions. WhatsApp said it also takes down attempts by criminal scam centres, often fuelled by forced labour and operated by organised crime, primarily in South East Asia. In the first six months this year, as part of its efforts to protect people from scams, WhatsApp and Meta's security teams detected and banned over 6.8 million accounts linked to scam centres. "Based on our investigative insights into the latest enforcement efforts, we proactively detected and took down accounts before scam centres were able to operationalise them," it said. Citing an instance of such a crackdown, it said recently, WhatsApp, Meta, and OpenAI disrupted scamsters' efforts that had links to a criminal scam centre in Cambodia. These attempts ranged from offering payments for fake likes to enlisting others into a rent-a-scooter pyramid scheme or luring people to invest in cryptocurrency. "As OpenAI reported, the scammers used ChatGPT to generate the initial text message containing a link to a WhatsApp chat, and then quickly directed the target to Telegram, where they were assigned a task of liking videos on TikTok. The scammers attempted to build trust in their scheme by sharing how much the target has already 'earned' in theory, before asking them to deposit money into a crypto account as the next task," it said.

Apple To Invest Additional $100 Billion In US: White House Official
Apple will invest an additional $100 billion in the United States, taking its total pledge to $600 billion over the next four years, a senior White House official said Wednesday. The announcement, which was first reported by US media, will be officially made later Wednesday at 4:30 pm (2030 GMT) at a White House event with President Donald Trump. In February, Apple said it would spend more than $500 billion in the United States and hire 20,000 people, with Trump quickly taking credit for the decision. The Silicon Valley-based giant said it was its "largest-ever spend commitment," which came as tech companies battle for dominance in developing artificial intelligence technology. It builds on plans announced in 2021, when the company founded by Steve Jobs said that it would invest $430 billion in the US and add 20,000 jobs over the next five years. Trump, who has pushed US companies to shift manufacturing home by slapping tariffs on trading partners, claimed that his administration was to thank for the investment. Apple reported a quarterly profit of $23.4 billion in late July, topping forecasts despite facing higher costs due to Trump's sweeping levies. Tariffs are essentially a tax paid by companies importing goods to the United States. This means Apple is on the hook for tariffs on iPhones and other products or components it brings into the country from abroad.
