Lebanese Forces reject sectarian accusations, reaffirm commitment to national unity
'This conviction is reflected in two directions,' the statement read. 'First, in a national discourse that transcends all sects; and second, in the membership of citizens from all sects—particularly the Sunni community—within the Lebanese Forces, in addition to the strong relationships the party maintains with Sunni, Druze, and Shiite leaders, except for those who are not only in ideological opposition to the LF, but to the very concept of Lebanon.'
The party expressed regret over what it called 'malicious attempts' by some parties to sow division and constantly target the LF, blaming it for irresponsible statements 'that do not reflect the party's values, principles, or rhetoric, even if such statements come from individuals close to the LF.'
It concluded by affirming that 'the only official representatives of the Lebanese Forces are its president, executive body, parliamentary bloc, media office, and statements issued by the party's authorized institutions. Any other statements, regardless of the speaker's proximity to the party, do not represent the LF.'

According to al-Jadeed, the American stance came after a meeting between Barrack and Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer last Thursday in Paris. Barrack received a negative Israeli response that was transmitted to Lebanon through indirect channels. Arab diplomatic sources meanwhile told al-Jadeed that there will be no future investments in Lebanon unless it commits to implementing international demands.

Leaflets dropped by Israeli helicopter during funeral of Amal official
SOUTH LEBANON — An Israeli helicopter dropped leaflets during the funeral of a local official from the Amal movement held Sunday in the border town of Mais el-Jabal (Marjayoun). The funeral for the deceased, Mohammad Zeib Hamdan, who died of natural causes, took place in the presence of several other figures from the Shiite movement, including Hassan Kabalan, a member of Amal's political bureau, MP Achraf Beydoun, and prominent religious figures. During the ceremony, which was also attended by local villagers, an Israeli helicopter dropped pieces of paper resembling receipts and bank transfers from several years ago, bearing various names, according to our correspondent. 'This prompted Salam, after consulting with President Joseph Aoun, to carry out a broad series of contacts to explore the government parties' readiness to secure political rather than numerical quorum for holding a cabinet session dedicated to taking a decision on arms monopoly,' the sources added. 'Salam and (Speaker Nabih) Berri will hold further discussions to create the right circumstances for holding a cabinet session that has consensus on arms monopoly on its agenda,' the sources said. 'Salam is avoiding to convene cabinet before he obtains prior agreement from the Shiite Duo on backing arms monopoly, because he does not want to implicate the government in a rift with Shiites,' the sources added.
