In a shocking case from the United States, an Indian tech entrepreneur is believed to have shot and killed his wife and one of his sons before taking his own life.
Harshavardhana S Kikkeri, the CEO of HoloWorld — a robotics firm headquartered in Mysuru — was found dead inside his home in the US, along with his wife, Shwetha Panyam, 44, and their 14-year-old son, identified as Dhruva Kikkeri, on April 24, according to the Seattle Times.

The couple's younger child, a seven-year-old boy, was the only one from the family who survived, as he wasn't home at the time of the tragic incident.
Once celebrated for his contributions to robotics and tech innovation, Kikkeri's story ended in tragedy, leaving behind a devastated family and a trail of questions that are yet to be answered. Here's what we know so far.
Who was
Harshavardhana Kikkeri?
As reported by Deccan Herald, Harshavardhana S Kikkeri hailed from KR Pet Taluk in Mandya, Karnataka. He pursued his education in Mysuru before heading to the United States, where he completed a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University.
A specialist in robotics, Kikkeri had also worked with Microsoft earlier in his career.
In 2017, he returned to India and, along with his wife Shwetha Panyam, co-founded HoloWorld. Just a year later, he gained attention for inventing the HoloSuit, an AI-powered full-body motion capture suit that functioned as a virtual trainer.

The suit had applications across multiple sectors — from sports and education to healthcare and its products were exported to several countries, including the US, UK, and Israel. Cricketer Yuvraj Singh was their brand ambassador, as per information available on the company's website.
At the peak of his professional success, Kikkeri even met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pitch the use of robotic solutions for strengthening border security, reports the Indian Express. In 2022, he and his family relocated back to the US.

According to a TEDx Talk description on YouTube, Kikkeri had received multiple honours, including a Gold Star from Microsoft, an Excellence Award from Infosys, and the Bharat Petroleum Scholarship. The video description claimed he held 44 international patents spanning the US, Europe, China, and Japan, and had also won several chess tournaments.
He was also an active member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) community and often spoke on topics related to innovation and robotics.
Despite the promising start, HoloWorld eventually shut down in 2022. However, its social media presence remained active on social media until November 2023.
How
Kikkeri's life took a dark turn
On the evening of April 24, authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the Kirkkeri family's townhouse on 129th Place Southeast, in Newcastle, Washington state.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered blood on a window and a bullet in the street along with the bodies of Harshavardhana Kikkeri, his wife Shwetha, and their 14-year-old son, Dhruva Kikkeri. The King County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Shwetha and Dhruva died from gunshot wounds.
Police have not revealed the motive behind the crime and refused to comment on whether it was a case of murder-suicide. However, the medical examiner's office classified Shwetha and Dhruva's deaths as homicides and stated that Harshavardhana died by suicide, according to _Seattle Times. T_he couple's younger son, 7, is the only survivor.

Authorities Crack Down on Boss IPTV and Affiliate Illegal IPTV Services: Users Warned of Criminal Charges and Deportation Risks

New Delhi: A major international crackdown has uncovered an extensive illegal Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) operation streaming pirated content across various digital platforms. Operating under brand names such as Boss IPTV, Guru IPTV, Tashan IPTV, Brampton IPTV, Vois IPTV, Indian IPTV, Punjabi IPTV, Edmonton IPTV, Boss Entertainment IPTV, and UltrastreamTV, this unlawful network has been implicated in severe copyright infringement and data privacy violations, According to police, these services have been illegally broadcasting premium Indian and international content including channels and programs from Star, Zee Network, Colors, Sony, Sun Network, ETV, Aha, Sonyliv, as well as global streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and international sports leagues—without securing proper licenses or permissions. Delivered through Android/Linux-based set-top boxes or via apps on smart devices, the illegal services were aggressively promoted online via social media, websites, and blogs, offering premium content at prices significantly below legal services. Government investigations reveal that these platforms do not pay content owners or platforms for rights, deeply harming the entertainment industry. The global South Asian broadcast sector loses an estimated $200–$300 million annually due to IPTV piracy, affecting licensed platforms like YuppTV,. In addition to economic damage, there are serious security concerns: pirated IPTV services often harvest user data—such as credit card information—and are linked to phishing scams, tax evasion, and potentially funding other illegal operations including drug trade and terrorism. Previously in 2021, following a complaint filed by YuppTV, the Faridabad Cyber Crime Branch conducted a raid on Boss IPTV operations in India, leading to the arrest of six individuals connected to the illegal piracy network. YuppTV has further filed a civil complaint in the United States District Court, represented by Goldstein Law Group, LLC ('GLP') targeting Boss IPTV and its affiliated entities. The complaint highlights severe violations of U.S. federal copyright law under 18 U.S.C. § 2319. According to GLP: 'Any subscriber using illegal IPTV pirate services… may be linked to copyright infringement, a crime under U.S. federal law. Convictions may result in felony charges, and non-citizens convicted of such offenses may be subject to deportation under U.S. law.' Recently, another similar case was reported by the Gandhinagar Cyber Crime Unit in Gujarat which arrested Mohammed Murtuza Ali, suspected to be the key figure behind another massive illegal IPTV operation known as Bos IPTV. Operating from Jalandhar, Punjab, Ali allegedly ran a piracy network that drew over five million subscribers and generated close to ₹700 crore (US $84 million) in annual revenue. Legal authorities suggest that to avoid the possibility of arrest and other penalties, all current users accessing pirated services immediately discontinue use and migrate to legal, licensed platforms such as YuppTV. Punjab: Espionage case: YouTuber Jasbir's female friend grilled, was receiving funds from him, say cops

The woman friend whose name had surfaced during the interrogation of espionage accused YouTuber Jasbir Singh, 41, was questioned for hours at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) on Sunday. As per sources, the woman, 32, from Jalandhar, has revealed that Jasbir had taken her to Delhi three to four times and she had even accompanied him to the invitation-only Pakistan Day event, hosted by the embassy. She said Jasbir had taken her along, despite not having an official invitation, as he had close ties with a man named Danish. Notably, India had expelled Pakistani diplomat Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, last month for espionage activities. Was receiving funds from Jasbir As per information, police have started examining the woman's phone and social media accounts. Preliminary findings suggest that Jasbir had been providing her financial support for some time. Authorities are now investigating why the funds were provided and at whose behest. Jasbir's phone records show links with 150 Pak officials Meanwhile, forensic teams found three to four suspicious applications in Jasbir's laptop. The accused, who runs a YouTube channel called 'Jaan Mahal' and has 1.1 million subscribers, had allegedly deleted several apps following the arrest of influencer Jyoti Malhotra last month. The forensic team is now working to recover this data, which, SSOC officials believe, could lead to significant breakthroughs. As per sources, 150 Pakistani contact numbers were found on Jasbir's phone, mostly belonging to ISI and Pakistani Army officers with whom he frequently communicated. Interrogation revealed that these contacts instructed Jasbir to post positive videos about Pakistan and promote Pakistani content widely. Jasbir was also urged to engage Indian youth through his content. Sources revealed that Danish, in particular, sought to involve more young women in these efforts. Investigators have also learned that Pakistan's intelligence operations are increasingly focused on targeting Indian youth. Jasbir was also allegedly in touch with Pakistani Intelligence Operative (PIO) Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, a member of a terror-backed espionage network, besides Jyoti Malhotra, who remains in custody. On Saturday, a Mohali court extended Jasbir's police remand by two more days. He was arrested on June 4 on espionage charges.
