'Only a scoundrel can act like this,' Zelenskyy said, mourning the civilians killed and injured in the attack. He extended his condolences to the victims' families and noted that a rescue operation is currently underway, with emergency services responding on the ground.
Zelenskyy also urged a firm international response: 'A tough reaction from the world is needed—by the United States, Europe, and all who seek an end to this war. Russia thrives on this terror and prolongs the conflict.'
He stressed that peace cannot be achieved without pressure on the aggressor, emphasizing that 'talks have never stopped ballistic missiles and aerial bombs.'
The president called for Russia to be treated with the same resolve shown toward terrorists, reiterating the urgent need for global accountability.

Erdogan Calls on Russia and Ukraine to Resume Dialogue - Jordan News

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday urged Russia and Ukraine not to "close the door" on dialogue, expressing hope for the resumption of talks between Moscow and Kyiv in Istanbul on Monday. اضافة اعلان Speaking to reporters upon his return from a visit to Azerbaijan on Wednesday, Erdogan said, according to the Turkish presidency: "We are in contact with Russia and Ukraine... We tell them that the door should not be closed as long as it remains open." He added, "In every meeting, we remind our interlocutors not to miss this opportunity," considering that "putting out this large fire in our region is a humanitarian duty." On Wednesday, Ukraine expressed readiness to hold new talks in Turkey on Monday following direct negotiations held on May 16 between Kyiv and Moscow in Istanbul. However, Ukraine requested that Moscow, which initiated the talks, present its conditions in advance to ensure the meeting yields results. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday, traveled to Ukraine on Thursday, where he is scheduled to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky. Turkey, a NATO member, has managed to maintain good relations with both Ukraine and Russia since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Turkey supplied drones to Kyiv while refraining from joining Western sanctions imposed on Moscow.

Lavrov and Rubio Discuss 'Concrete' Proposals Regarding the War in Ukraine - Jordan News

Lavrov and Rubio Discuss 'Concrete' Proposals Regarding the War in Ukraine The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio about preparing "concrete proposals" for a new round of direct talks with Kyiv. اضافة اعلان In a statement published on the ministry's website, it said, 'Lavrov spoke with Rubio about the implementation of agreements made between the Russian and American presidents during their phone call a week ago, and about Russia's preparation of concrete proposals for the next round of direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul.' Lavrov previously stated, 'Russia is proposing to hold the next round of direct talks in Istanbul on June 2nd, with the aim of achieving a sustainable peaceful settlement.' During the joint call with Rubio, Lavrov affirmed the shared intention to continue constructive dialogue between the Russian and American diplomatic corps. The two also discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda. Earlier on Wednesday, Moscow proposed holding a new round of direct talks with Kyiv in Istanbul on the upcoming Monday, to present a draft 'memorandum' of peace that outlines its conditions for ending the war. Ukraine responded by saying it needs to review Russia's conditions in advance to ensure the meeting yields meaningful results. Russia noted that its Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov briefed his American counterpart Marco Rubio on the ongoing preparations in this regard. In a statement, Lavrov said, 'Our delegation is ready to present this memorandum to the Ukrainian delegation and provide the necessary clarifications during the second round of direct negotiations in Istanbul on Monday, June 2nd.' This diplomatic movement comes amid a recent escalation of large-scale aerial attacks exchanged between Ukraine and Russia in recent weeks. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed 'deep disappointment' over Russia's bombing during ongoing negotiations but rejected calls to impose further sanctions on Moscow. Trump said, 'If I believe I'm close to reaching a deal, I don't want to mess it up by doing that.' Earlier Wednesday, the Kremlin rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's call for a trilateral summit with Presidents Trump and Putin. Moscow stated that such a meeting would not take place unless 'firm agreements' are reached first.
