Swansea City ratings as full-back shines in win over Sheffield United
Swansea City picked up their first win of the new Championship season by edging their way to an impressive 1-0 victory over Sheffield United at the Stadium. Ronald's goal midway through the second half proved enough to hand victory to Alan Sheehan's men. Here's how the players rated on the day. READ MORE: BBC announce name change to famous Match of the Day show after Gary Lineker exit READ MORE: Teenage footballer ridiculed by online trolls as club pull big announcement Lawrence Vigouroux 7 Didn't end up really making a save, but was pretty tidy when called upon. Josh Key 8 - STAR MAN So much energy on the right hand side. Did well defensively too, making some key clearances. Often in and around some Swansea's brightest moments. Ben Cabango (c) 8 Strong in the tackle. Made some really good interceptions too. Cameron Burgess 8 As above, really. Josh Tymon 8 Bombed up and down the left all day. Another superb showing. Goncalo Franco 7 Battled fairly well in the middle of the park, but wasn't quite his most influential game. Malick Yalcouye 7 Some really promising moments, including an early blocked shot. But was also caught in possession a couple of times. A solid debut, but hopefully more to come. Ronald 8 Should probably have scored in the first half, but put some good crosses in, and took his goal well. A good outing on the whole. Ethan Galbraith 7 Looked after possession reasonably well and linked up nicely with his colleagues in the final third. Good out of possession too. Jisung Eom 7 Really good in the build-up, but couldn't quite find a decisive outcome in the final third at times. Liam Cullen 7 Isolated for much of the first half, but was involved in the goal and grew into the game reasonably well. Subbed. Subs: Melker Widell (on for Yalcouye 62) - Should have scored a second for his side late on, but did okay - 6 Zeidane Inoussa (on for Eom 62) - Architect of the goal. Really good cameo - 7 Jay Fulton (on for Ronald 90) - N/A Bobby Wales (on for Cullen 90+7) - N/A

Spurs get Frank off to flier, Sunderland win on Premier League return
Richarlison scored twice to give Tottenham manager Thomas Frank a dream home debut with a 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, while Sunderland shocked West Ham 3-0 on their return to the Premier League. Frank was seconds away from launching his era in charge with a trophy until a late Paris Saint-Germain revival won the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. The former Brentford boss replaced Ange Postecoglou despite the Australian ending Spurs' 17-year trophy drought by lifting the Europa League. However, Postecoglou was undone by a miserable return of six home league wins last season as Tottenham finished just above the relegation zone in 17th. Richarlison made the most of the faith shown in him by Frank as the Brazilian turned in Mohammed Kudus' cross to open the scoring. The pair combined again on the hour in more spectacular fashion as Richarlison's bicycle kick crashed in the Ghanaian's delivery from the right. Brennan Johnson was Tottenham's hero of the Europa League final with the only goal against Manchester United and he began the new season by racing clear to slot in the third. Burnley racked up 100 points in their Championship promotion campaign last season but did little to suggest they will buck the trend of sides being relegated straight back to the second tier. For the past two seasons, all three promoted teams have gone down. However, big-spending Sunderland enjoyed a dream return to the top-flight with a second-half demolition of West Ham. Former Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka is among pool of new signings attracted to the Stadium of Light. But it was three players key to their promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since 2017 who scored. Eliezer Mayenda's looping header gave the Black Cats lift off on the hour mark. Centre-back Dan Ballard headed in the second before Wilson Isidor rounded off a huge win in stoppage time. - Newcastle miss Isak - Newcastle missed the unsettle Alexander Isak as they failed to find the breakthrough against 10-man Aston Villa in a 0-0 draw at Villa Park. The Magpies were the dominant side even before Ezri Konsa's red card for bringing down Antony Gordon 24 minutes from time. Isak had not been involved during Newcastle's pre-season as he appears determined to force through a move to Liverpool, who reportedly saw a £110 million ($149 million) offer for the Swedish striker rejected. The two clubs face off in their next league match at St. James' Park on August 25. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said he wants an end to the saga one way or another. "From my perspective, you want a resolution quickly. It's taking away the focus of the players and the supporters," said Howe "We want to be united together. We'd like a resolution, but we're not in control of that." Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz struck in the 96th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw at Brighton after Matt O'Riley's penalty put the Seagulls in front. Manchester City begin their campaign away to Wolves later on Saturday, hoping to bounce back into contenders for the title after a season to forget in 2024/25. Arsenal are not in action until Sunday when they travel to face a transformed Manchester United attack. Defending champions Liverpool began their title defence with a dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday thanks to late goals from Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa. kca/pb

Little League World Series scores: Results, schedule from Day 4 as Texas faces Massachusetts, Pennsylvania plays Illinois
The 2025 Little League World Series is officially off and running. Eight teams continue their quest to win it all in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on Friday in the annual summer tournament. A new winner will be crowned in 2025, too, after last year's champion, Lake Mary, Florida, was eliminated in the regional round. Which teams will prevail and remain in the winner's bracket? Catch up on all of the action below. Saturday's Little League World Series schedule Here's what's coming up on Saturday: Australia (0-1) vs. Czechia (0-1) at 10 a.m. ET Texas (0-1) vs. Massachusetts (0-1) at 3 p.m. ET Puerto Rico (0-1) vs. Mexico (0-1) at 5 p.m. ET Pennsylvania (0-1) vs. Illinois (0-1) at 7 p.m. ET Little League World Series format In case you need a refresher, the 2025 Little League World Series will feature a total of 20 teams: 10 from the United States and 10 international clubs. Those teams will compete in a modified double-elimination tournament. Play began Wednesday, Aug. 13, with the winners advancing and remaining in the winners' portion of the bracket. Starting Saturday, Aug. 16, the teams that lost their first games will face off to determine which teams remain in the event. Once a team loses twice, it is eliminated. That changes once the championships begin. The U.S. championship game and the international championship game will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, and will both be single-elimination games. The same thing will be true for the LLWS championship game. That creates a scenario in which a team could be eliminated from the event with just one loss. Games will last six innings. If a game is tied after six innings, both teams will play the seventh inning as normal, with no ghost runners on base. If a game extends past the seventh inning, a runner will open each inning on second base.
