Postecoglou's classy gesture for Spurs fan on holiday amid brutal Levy snub
Tottenham announced the end of Ange Postecoglou's time at the club on Friday after an awful season and Daniel Levy's feelings on the Australian appear to be very clear
Ange Postecoglou rounded off his Tottenham tenure with a heartwarming gesture to a fan but was met with silence by Daniel Levy. The Australian departed the club on Friday after two years.
His exit comes just a fortnight after ending the club's 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League. Spurs have explained that the decision to sack him came due to their awful Premier League campaign.
And while his time in North London is over, one fan in particular will have lasting memories of Postecoglou. According to The Athletic, Spurs supporter Jeremy Conrad met the former Celtic boss and his family while on holiday in Greece following the European success.
He reportedly thanked him for all he had done for the club. Conrad then followed that up by sending a lovely letter and a bottle of wine to Postecoglou's villa.
Postecoglou was determined to reply in kind. He thanked the supporter at breakfast the next day, while he also handed him a signed shirt with a message reading: 'To Jez. Ange. COYS!'

And while that heart-warming gesture will no doubt go down very well with Spurs supporters, chairman Levy has made his feelings on Postecoglou very clear. In the club's announcement, there were no quotes from Levy despite him having spoken out on the two major departures from the club this summer: coach Ryan Mason and executive director Donna-Maria Cullen.
One the former, he said: "Ryan has been an integral part of Tottenham Hotspur for a number of years, both as a player and a coach. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ryan for all his dedication and hard work over the years, and we wish him every success for the future."
Meanwhile, Levy penned a lengthy message for Cullen. He wrote: 'Donna has made an immense contribution to the Club, over an extensive period. Her diverse responsibilities grew significantly and replacing her roles with a single individual will be impossible.
'While many may associate her primarily with marketing and communications, Donna's impact extends far beyond those areas. Notably, her leadership and political acumen at planning committees, was instrumental in the Club being able to build one of the finest stadiums and training centres in the world.

'She deserves recognition for the contribution she played in the formation of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, which has positively impacted countless individuals in our communities, and in establishing the London Academy of Excellence, providing children with exceptional educational opportunities.
'Donna has pushed the conscience of the Club to be at the forefront of environmental and diversity initiatives. She also played a crucial role in supporting the amateur part-time Spurs Ladies, enabling the development of our professional women's team.
'Her daily input will be greatly missed, however she fully deserves to take time for herself, and I know that we shall be able to call upon her advice when needed. We wish her well for the future.'
Spurs have already launched their search for a new manager, with Brentford's Thomas Frank at the top of the list. Postecoglou in the meantime will have the summer off following his exit.

Chelsea 'hesitate' over signing £68m striker ahead of Liverpool
Chelsea are 'hesitating' over beating Liverpool to the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to reports in Germany. Chelsea are looking to squad ahead of the Club World Cup and the £30 million deal to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town was completed this week. Chelsea are also in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund over a deal for Jamie Gittens, who has agreed a seven-year contract with the Premier League side. Ekitike, meanwhile, has attracted interest following his impressive season with Eintracht Frankfurt in which he finished the campaign with 22 goals in all competitions. According to BILD, Chelsea remain in the running to sign Ekitike before the transfer deadline at 7pm next Tuesday, but the club still have reservations over moving forward with a deal. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. It's claimed that the key reason is Chelsea's valuation of Ekitike – Eintracht Frankfurt value the 22-year-old at €100m (£84.3m) but Chelsea are refusing to go beyond €80m (£67.4m). BILD also report that Liverpool are also interested in Ekitike but their main focus is to reach an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz. Last week, reports in Germany claimed that Liverpool had held initial talks over a move for Ekitike. Speaking on the final day of the Bundesliga season, Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director, Markus Krosche, refused to rule out the prospect of selling Ekitike this summer. 'He's one of the most interesting strikers on the European market. Hugo has to decide that,' Krosche told Sport 1. More Trending 'I'm glad we have him. If he decides otherwise, that's our motto – if a player develops faster than us, we let him go.' Earlier this week, Ekitike pulled out of France's Under-21s squad for their European Championship campaign due to a back injury. Chelsea, meanwhile, begin their Club World Cup campaign against Los Angeles FC on June 16. Maresca's side will then play Flamengo on June 20 before finishing their Group D campaign against ES Tunis on June 20. For more stories like this, check our sport page. England fans let Tuchel know their feelings as humiliation only just averted
ANDORRA 0-1 ENGLAND: Harry Kane scored the only goal in Catalunya as the European minnows were beaten by Thomas Tuchel's side to ensure total humiliation was averted Dan Burn missed his brother's wedding for this. There were 10,000 travelling fans who probably wished they'd accepted the invitation on his behalf. What is certain is that the honeymoon period for Thomas Tuchel is over before the cake's been cut. After the Three Lions were booed off at half-time for playing like pussycats against a team whose players earn a living in places like Luxembourg, the Dominican Republic and the part-time reaches of the Spanish League, it took a goal from Harry Kane to make sure total humiliation was averted. Tuchel is only the fifth England manager to win his first three competitive games. Mind you, none of Ron Greenwood, Glenn Hoddle, Sven Goran-Eriksson and Fabio Capello ever went beyond a quarter-final, so looks can be deceiving. It's a lame excuse that the manager picked an experimental team to face a nation that languishes 173rd in the FIFA rankings and have won just 14 of their 218 internationals. England were awful. In Germany they would have called it 'furchtbar' - and you don't have to be fluent in Tuchel's native lingo to get the gist. Supporters who had spent plenty of their hard-earned were right to let the coach and his players know exactly how they felt. The mood lifted once Kane had scored his 72nd international goal - and having already dispatched Albania and Latvia in the first two qualifiers, England will virtually secure qualification for next summer's finals by winning in Serbia in September. But Andorra must be wondering if they were naive in switching the game to the home of La Liga club Espanyol, In doing so, they surrendered the prospect of testing England on their humble 3,300-capacity stadium in the mountains, artificial turf and all. Coach Alvarez used to be Andorra's keeper. He conceded 208 goals in his 78 appearances - although he did get a standing ovation from England's fans after letting in six in his final game at Wembley. That didn't prevent him passing down his gloves to son, Iker. The 23-year-old earns his living with Villarreal's reserves and has fared better than his old man in that he's only picked the ball out of his net 50 times in 32 internationals. It took just two minutes for Jude Bellingham to test him from range. Noni Madueke forced Alvarez into an even better save nine minutes later. England should have scored in the 18th minute when Kane was unable to squeeze the ball home from close range after Morgan Rogers had crossed from the right. But the younger Alvarez was largely untroubled. He must have thought he'd done enough when England scored four minutes into the second half. Kane was sent through by Curtis Jones' perfectly-weighted pass only to fire his shot against Alvarez's legs as the keeper came rushing out. But the loose ball fell to Madueke and his driven cross was turned into the roof of the net at the far post by the stretching skipper. Tuchel's experimental team had Jones at right-back and Reece James on the opposite flank, while Jordan Henderson partnered Bellingham in central midfield. Madueke, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers operated behind Harry Kane. It just didn't work. Jones was England's best performer, moving naturally into central midfield. Madueke carried most of what little threat was on offer. Madueke almost set up a goal for substitute Anthony Gordon in injury-time. By then many of England's fans were already on La Rambla looking for a bar doing happy hour.

Ex-Man Utd ace admits 'Newcastle phone call' amid £50m summer transfer talk
Newcastle United are interested in Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga and the former Manchester United ace has spoken about the interest he has been subject to on international duty Anthony Elanga admitted he'd received a phone call from Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak... but joked it was concerning his errant shooting on international duty. The Nottingham Forest winger had been linked with interest from the Magpies ahead of Sweden's match against Hungary. The Swedes came away 2-0 victors without the help of Newcastle star Isak, who pulled out of the squad through injury, as Elanga put in a starring performance but failed to get on the scoresheet. Benjamin Nygren and Yasin Ayari secured the victory for Jon Dahl Tomasson's team away from home. Elanga scored six goals and provided 11 assists as Nottingham Forest qualified for the UEFA Conference League, after looking set for Champions League competition following a strong start to the season. The former Manchester United ace was a key member of Nuno Espirito Santo's team throughout 2024/25 in his second season with the club. Newcastle are said to have enquired over a deal for Elanga, who has three years remaining on his contract with Forest. Last summer saw the Premier League's fifth-placed side make a late £35million bid for the Swede but never came close to making a deal. And Eddie Howe appears keen to rest the Midlands side's resolve once again, with Newcastle able to offer Champions League football. However, it is reported it would take a figure greater than £50m to find success. Elanga appears relaxed over such speculation. ' There is a lot of talk," he said, per Sport Witness. "I focus on what I can do and my focus today was on the match. In football there are always rumours. The most important thing is that I focus on what I can control.' 'I guess there will always be scouts wherever I play," he added. "As long as I stay focused and do my best in the match. "I just keep my focus and what I can control. That's what I can do on and off the field. I focus on the next day and action. That's what I can do." Elanga was asked if he'd received a call from Isak and admitted his international team-mate had made an attempt. But joked it was likely about his shooting performance on Friday night. "He must have tried to call me about the match, that I should have scored," he said.
