ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney revealed on 'Sunday Night Baseball' reactions from around the sport, including a text he received from a New York Yankees official.

'Glad he's gone. Yankee killer,' the anonymous executive reportedly wrote.
Olney said a member of the Yankees texted, 'Good riddance. Thank God, because this guy murders us.'
Boston officially announced the blockbuster trade of its 28-year old star on Sunday. The deal sent Devers to the San Francisco Giants for left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison, right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks, minor league outfielder James Tibbs III and righty pitcher Jose Bello. The Giants will take on all of Devers' salary, about $255 million over eight-plus seasons.
Tibbs, ranked as San Francisco's No. 3 prospect (and the 13th pick in last year's draft), was at High-A Eugene in the Giants system but will go to Double-A Portland, while Bello is currently in Rookie ball.

Devers is batting .272/.401/.504 with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs this season. His last home run as a Red Sox player came against the Yankees on Sunday.
'(MLB execs) are absolutely stunned at how quickly this came together,' Olney said on the 'Sunday Night Baseball' broadcast.

MLB Should Expand But Cannot Depart From American League-National League Format
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Major League Baseball has been rumored to be seeking expansion. On the broadcast of "Sunday Night Baseball," Rob Manfred stated that the league could realign geographically if they were to expand. This would be a monumental mistake to remove two of the founding pieces of the league. Photo byThere is a way to expand and realign without sacrificing the two leagues that have made up the World Series participants since 1903. Depending on the location of potential expansion teams and utilizing the ability to transfer teams from one league to the other, as MLB did with the Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros, during times of expansion and realignment. Maneuvering teams that have cross-league flexibility would be the simplest way to keep longstanding rivalries like the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, along with the fresh new rivalries like the Astros and Texas Rangers. While realignment will likely be necessary, it would be a mistake to remove the two leagues entirely and move to an East-West alignment like the NHL and NBA. The National and American Leagues were the initial founding parties of Major League Baseball, and now it seems that their existence is at risk. Moving teams from one league to the other would only be based on necessity, and geographical alignments are needed to create an even number of teams in both leagues. MLB likely won't going to be expanding until after the Athletics and Tampa Bay Rays have permanent stadiums built, but the process has to begin somewhere. Yankees' Aaron Judge gets bad injury update on right elbow problem
Yankees' Aaron Judge gets bad injury update on right elbow problem originally appeared on The Sporting News The good news for the New York Yankees is the simple part that everyone already knows: Aaron Judge is in the batting lineup. But the bad news, a fresh injury update provided by manager Aaron Boone on Tuesday, isn't great. Boone, speaking on WFAN, said he doesn't see Judge returning to the outfield during this week's series against the Rays. Further, he's not sure Judge will throw the same the rest of the year. 'We're trying to get through where he can let it go with ease and be able to protect himself,' Boone said. 'I don't think we're going to see him back to throwing like he normally does at any point this year, but that's OK, too. We've got to feel like he can go out there and be able to protect himself and represent himself.' MORE: Juan Soto, Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh are making stolen bases cool again Judge went on the injured list late last month with a flexor strain in his right (throwing) elbow. It probably could've been worse, but it's still a risky injury, because it puts the elbow in danger of further damage if a player is rushed back into the field. It doesn't get impacted in the same way by a swing, which is why Judge can keep batting. But that's why he has only been the DH since he came back. Judge has played 11 games since returning on Aug. 5. He's batting .229 in that span with a double, two home runs and six RBI. MORE: Phillies' pitcher Matt Strahm has the funniest reason for investing in Pokemon cards With Judge at DH, the Yankees have given Giancarlo Stanton a few games in right field. That's not an ideal setup, either, given Stanton's limited mobility and the fact that he himself missed time early in the season with elbow problems. But at this point, the Yankees are forced to make it work with what they have. And that means Judge might be in a precarious spot the rest of the season until his elbow can fully heal.
