KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Garrett Crochet allowed one run on seven hits over seven innings, Rafael Devers was 4 for 4 with three RBIs and the Boston Red Sox beat Kansas City 10-1 on Saturday night to end the Royals' winning streak at seven.
Crochet (4-2) struck out nine and walked one. He struck out Bobby Witt Jr. with the bases loaded to end the seventh.

Trevor Story blew open a close game with a three-run homer.
Cole Ragans (2-2) took the loss. He allowed four runs on seven hits through five innings. He struck out eight and walked two.
The Red Sox got to Ragans in the third. With two outs, Jarren Duran singled and scored on Devers' double.
The Royals answered with a run in the bottom of the third. Witt stroked a one-out single, stole second, went to third on a balk and scored on a looping hit by Mark Canha.
The Red Sox scored three runs in the fifth on four consecutive hits. Duran, Devers and Alex Bregman each delivered RBI singles.
Story's home run came with two outs in the seventh, and Carlos Narvaez added a two-run shot in the eighth.

After the Red Sox took a 4-1 lead in the fifth inning, Crochet got the shut-down inning he needed. Even with an error by shortstop Trevor Story, Crochet didn't allow a runner to reach second base.

First is volume and opportunity, right? There was no tight end of consequence in this offense last year. Don't give me Mo Alie-Cox, Kyle Granson, Will Mallory, none of that, right? He was picked a few spots after Colton Loveland. Some people thought that Tyler Warren could be the first tight end selected. He comes off pick 14. The most commonly selected paired-up mock draft parent, he wore number 44, Dallas Clark comps running wild. But I just want to say this. From the time, and I am notlet me be very clear, I am not in any way, shape, or form comparing this situation to that of Brock Bowers or the player Brock Bowers, but a lot of people were hesitant on that. I remember on draft night, peopleI'm off. I want no part, just flat out, I want no part of it. They don't have the quarterbacks to get him the ball, and you saw 150 targets later. Bowers is a generational talent. I don't believe that Tyler Warren is that, but you also, as a tight end, and he played tight end in college, you don't go out in a P5 conference and catch 100 passes. You're just not in the Big Ten; you just don't do some of those things. So, his ability to win is real, okay. His ability to get down the field and win is real, and we've seen that in small spurts throughout the preseason. This is a necessity pick. They need an easy button option for whoever's playing quarterback in this offense. I love Josh Downs. Go back to the time that Josh Downs spent in North Carolina. His problem is there's always just something, his inability to be on the field consistently. Pittman is fine. Pierce runs his allotment of routes. It is Tyler Warren's season over the middle of the field. They're using him down the field and in those instances where you get some of that rushing work, which he's done throughout camp. Like, this is just a tight end that may not be in the best environment, but I also don't think Daniel Jones is gonna be slinging the ball all over the field, going through progressions, 345 reads, coming back. It's gonna be finding your primary or getting the ball out of bounds. This is an opportunity plus talent, skill set, match fit. I have not been worried about Tyler Warren at all, and with Daniel Jones as the starter, I think it's even better than Anthony Richardson. Close

2025 NFL MVP betting, odds: Public bettors backing Joe Burrow; big bets on Lamar Jackson
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow put up an incredible season last year, compiling 4,918 passing yard and 43 touchdowns while throwing nine interceptions. He also was third in the NFL with a total QBR of 74.7, the highest of his career. However, the Bengals went 9-8 and missed the postseason. The betting public is expecting an MVP season from Burrow this year. Burrow (+600) is tied for the third-best odds at BetMGM to win the 2025 NFL MVP award with Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, the 2024 MVP, but behind the favorite and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson (+550) of the Baltimore Ravens. Yet Burrow has the most bets and total dollars wagered to win MVP at multiple sportsbooks. "Burrow is the most-bet player and our biggest liability [among realistic candidates]," BetMGM NFL trader Christian Cipollini told Yahoo Sports. Burrow has 15.7% of all MVP wagers at BetMGM sportsbooks, along with 24.3% of the handle. Who is the best rim protector in Nets franchise history?
The Brooklyn Nets have had plenty of players play for the franchise in the 59-year history of the organization that began its days in the ABA as the New Jersey Americans. Since the franchise has moved to Brooklyn, there hasn't been much playoff success to speak of, but that doesn't mean that there weren't great players that have played for the team. In terms of blocks per game, center Shawn Bradley was the best rim protector in the history of the franchise as he has the highest blocks-per-game average of 3.8 rejections per game. After Bradley, it's center George Johnson (2.8 blocks per game), center Billy Paultz (2.1), forward Julius "Dr. J" Erving (2.1), and center Chris Dudley (1.9) to round out the top-5 players in franchise history for blocks per game. Bradley played for the Nets, then in New Jersey, for parts of two seasons from the 1995-96 season to the 1996-97 campaign, which would explain why he has the highest blocks-per-game average in franchise history without ranking high on the total blocks leaderboards. In the 107 games that Bradley played for the Nets, he averaged 3.8 blocks per game, amounting to 410 total blocks. For context, Dudley and wing Chris Morris are tied for the ninth-most blocks (468) in the history of the franchise, meaning that Dudley was just 58 blocks away from entering the top-9 on the list. Assuming that Bradley's blocks-per-game average would have stayed the same, he would have needed just 16 games to amass at least 468 blocks, showing just how much of a force he was at the rim. In terms of total blocks over the course of a player's tenure with the Nets, Brook Lopez is the leader in that category with 972 blocks, equating to 1.7 blocks per contest over his 562 games with the franchise. While Lopez is considered one of the best players in the history of the Nets, Bradley seems to be the best rim protector due to his gaudy numbers.
