Eamonn Holmes says 'Ruth does all the hard stuff' as he opens up about shared custody

Eamonn Holmes has shared an update on rescue dog Maggie this week following his split from Ruth Langsford, with whom he had adopted the canine companion over a decade ago Presenter Eamonn Holmes wrote about his ex Ruth Langsford in an update about their rescue dog Maggie this week. He's given an insight into the arrangements between them after having paid tribute to Maggie over the weekend. ‌ Eamonn, 65, and Ruth, 65, announced last year that they had decided to separate after 14 years of marriage. The former couple, who also have a son together, were later said to be involved in a custody dispute over canine Maggie, whom they had adopted as a family in 2011. ‌ After posting about Maggie yesterday, Eamonn returned to Instagram this afternoon with an update. It included him paying tribute to Ruth, who regularly posts about taking Maggie on walks, and teased over his plans for the future. ‌ Eamonn told his followers that Maggie will feature in the Times this week. He wrote: "So much interest and Love for Maggie following yesterday's post to the extent that she is going to star in @thetimes on line from tomorrow and this week's Sunday Times." The former This Morning host, who has experience health issues in recent years, went on to say that his ex does "all the hard stuff" with Maggie. He said: "Ruth does all the hard stuff with her because of my Wheelchair restrictions but working hard to hopefully get better soon and adopt another #Rescue #Dog like we did from @dogstrust all those years ago!" ‌ The presenter added: "Maggie changed my life and she was making me very happy in The Sunshine today. In many ways she reminds me of my dearly departed Mum - a really bad knee and hardly any teeth left but not bad for a 17 year old!" Eamonn, who is a patron of rescue group K-9 Angels, concluded: "Please try to Adopt and Not Shop if u can. from organisations like @thek9angels and @dogstrust Enjoy the Sunshine but please be aware of your dog in a car and it's little feet on hot pavements. Bye from Maggie and Me." ‌ The journalist, who used Randy Newman's song You've Got A Friend in Me from Toy Story (1995) in the post, had posted about Maggie yesterday. Alongside photos, he said in his previous post: "17 years apart ... and we r both still going - JUST. Maggie and Me #dogstrust #adoptdontshop." Eamonn and Ruth were said to be having "difficult conversations" about where Maggie would live following their separation. There were even previously reports of a custody dispute over the dog between the former couple. It was however suggested in May last year that Maggie was likely to end up primarily with Loose Women panelist Ruth. A source told the Sun at the time that Maggie is "like a daughter" to the exes, who were both said to "dote" on her. ‌ The source further told the outlet: "But she's getting on and they know she needs stability. It's a case of who can give her that." They added that the prospect of "giving her up" was "heartbreaking" for GB News presenter Eamonn. They said that Eamonn "adores" her but teased over the canine ending up with his ex. The source said last year: "But if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split."

Cristiano Ronaldo wows with huge engagement ring but fans have complaint

Cristiano Ronaldo is officially engaged to Georgina Rodriguez (Image: georginagio/Instagram) Cristiano Ronaldo is sure to have spent a small fortune on his dazzling engagement ring for fiancée Georgina Rodriguez as fans can't believe the size of it. The football icon, 40, finally popped the question after almost a decade and two children later. They have long faced questions as to when they would finally walk down the aisle, with Cristiano now making the all important move. The couple had teased fans with a potential engagement after Georgina, 31, was spotted with a huge diamond on her finger. Neither had officially confirmed or denied if it was an engagement ring, with Cristiano revealed he hadn't asked for her hand in marriage because the timing wasn't 'quite right'. The couple racked up thousands of compliments and congratulations from their fans, while others had plenty to say on the ring. Georgina flashed a massive diamond that took up almost half of her ring finger. It featured one stunning stone that glistened on the white bedsheets while Cristiano place his hand underneath. Talk quickly turned to the price of the stunning jewel as one said: "For how much? That must have cost a backpack." Others were more taken aback by the size of the ring as someone exclaimed: "That rock." Another went further as they added: "A glacier!" Someone else commented: "Incredible, had to be the best in the world." A fifth joked: "Pretty small diamond." While one fan took issue with the practical side of things as they shared: "The ring is too big, it will make you uncomfortable when washing dishes." Another quipped: "Surely that's AI?! Who in their mind wants a boulder on their finger?!" "Surely that's photoshopped. I've no doubt he can afford something that big but WHY?!," wrote someone else. "This isn't coming from a place of jealousy that ring is too much," shared a social media user. Despite the criticism, Georgina seemed thrilled with the ring as she said: "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives." On her Netflix reality show I Am Georgina, she revealed her friends are always asking about wedding plans. She admitted: "They're always joking about the wedding. 'When is the wedding?' Since Jennifer Lopez's song The Ring Or When came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me." The couple met at a Gucci store in 2016, with the ex-Manchester United superstar admitting that it was a case of love at first sight. "She's a fantastic person. Yes, it is [true love]. Yes, it was [like magic meeting for the first time]. Gio is part of me. She helps me so much.," he told Piers Morgan in an interview in 2019. "Of course, I'm in love with her. She's the mum of my kids. I'm so passionate for her. She's my friend, we have conversations. I open my heart to her. "She opened her heart to me. [She's the greatest love of my life]... Why not [get married]. Not now! Not in this interview. Why not, one day... We'll one day, for sure. It's my mum's dream." When celebrating Georgina's birthday earlier this year, Cristiano appeared to hint he had taken that next step. He posted on social media: "For the mother, partner, friend, my wife... happy birthday, love. Your light illuminates us and your love infects us." CCTV shows men in combat clothing shooting hospital volunteer at point-blank range in Syria

Sky News has obtained shocking CCTV from inside the main hospital in the city of Sweida in southern Syria - where our team found more than 90 corpses laid out in the grounds following a week of intense fighting. Warning this article shows images of a shooting The CCTV images show men in army fatigues shooting dead a volunteer dressed in medical scrubs at point-blank range while a crowd of other terrified health workers are held at gunpoint with their hands in the air. The mainly Druze city of Sweida was the scene of nearly a week of violent clashes, looting and executions last month which plunged the new authorities into their worst crisis since the toppling of the country's former dictator Bashar al Assad. The new Syrian government troops were accused of partaking in the atrocities they were sent in to quell between the Druze minority and the Arab Bedouin minority groups. The government troops were forced to withdraw when Israeli jets entered the fray, saying they were protecting the Druze minority and bombed army targets in Sweida and the capital Damascus. Image: Men in military fatigues enter the hospital. Image: The hospital volunteer is seen on the floor moments before he was shot Image: A second man fires with a handgun Days of bloodletting ensued, with multiple Arab tribes, Druze militia and armed gangs engaging in pitched battles and looting before a ceasefire was agreed. The government troops then set up checkpoints and barricades encircling Sweida to prevent the Arab tribes re-entering. The extrajudicial killing captured on CCTV inside the Sweida hospital is corroborated by eyewitnesses we spoke to who were among the group, as well as other medics in the hospital and a number of survivors and patients. Image: Body bags in the grounds of hospital The CCTV is date- and time-stamped as mid-afternoon on 16 July and the different camera angles show the men (who tell the hospital workers they are government troops) marauding through the hospital; and in at least one case, smashing the CCTV cameras with the butt of a rifle. One of the nurses present, who requested anonymity, told us: "They told us if we talked about the shooting or showed any film, we'd be killed too. I thought I was going to die." Dr Obeida Abu Fakher, a doctor who was in the operating section at the time, told us: "They told us they were the new Syrian army and interior police. We cannot have peace with these people. They are terrorists." Read more: Inside Sweida: The Syrian city ravaged by sectarian violence Who are the Druze and who are they fighting in Syria? Why Israel is getting involved in Syria's internal fighting Image: A destroyed ambulance in Sweida Follow The World Listen to The World with Richard Engel and Yalda Hakim every Wednesday Tap to follow Multiple patients and survivors told us when we visited the hospital last month that government troops had participated in the horror which swept through Sweida for days but this is the first visual evidence that some took part in atrocities inside the main hospital. In other images, one of the men can be seen smashing the CCTV camera with the butt of his rifle - and another is wearing a black sweater which appears to be the uniform associated with the country's interior security. One survivor calling himself Mustafa Sehnawi, an American citizen from New Jersey, told us: "It's the government who sent those troops, it's the government of Syria who killed those people... we need help." Image: A destroyed tank in Sweida The government responded with a statement from the interior ministry saying they would be investigating the incident which they "denounced and condemned" in the strongest terms. The statement went on to promise all those involved would be "held accountable" and punished. The new Syrian president Ahmed al Sharaa is due to attend the United Nations General Assembly next month in New York - the first time a Syrian leader has attended since 1967 - and what happened in Sweida is certain to be among the urgent topics of discussion.
