The Blink-182 bassist shared an excerpt of his upcoming memoir, Fahrenheit-182, with Entertainment Weekly ahead of its release today. In it, he wrote of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch star, "She and I had met at the Teen Choice Awards, and she must've found me interesting because she had her publicist reach out to my label's publicist to give me her number. Totally normal courtship."
"When we got on the phone, I played it cool. 'Oh, awesome, yeah, I'll be in L.A. shooting my new music video, so we should have dinner after I wrap,'" he continued. "I thought I was so slick using this Hollywood industry jargon, but I doubt it impressed her. I was newly famous, but she had been famous for years."
The pair went and got sushi together. He wrote, "It was an awful date. She was very nice, but we weren't connecting. Everything in her life revolved around acting, and it was hard to relate to her about anything else. I'd ask what she liked to eat besides sushi and she'd say, 'Well, I'm usually eating whatever catering provides on set.' I'd ask what she likes to read, and she'd say, 'Well, I'm usually reading scripts for work.' And I'm sure from her perspective, all I could talk about was music. We just weren't a great match. It was tough."
"After dinner she took me to her house and showed me around. She had a beautiful place nearby with a view that overlooked the city and a huge hot tub. I thought she might be hinting that we should get in the tub. I told her I had an early set time and that I should probably get going. She dropped me back at my hotel," he added.
That night, he ended up on the phone with MTV booker Skye Everly — the woman he ended up marrying the following year. The pair are still together and share one son. Meanwhile, Melissa married Mark Wilkerson, the guitarist of Course of Nature, in 2003, and they still seem to be going strong.

Lana Parrilla Is ‘Open' to a ‘Once Upon a Time' Reboot, Reveals Why the Series Is ‘Special' to Her
Lana Parrilla is reflecting on if she'd be open to putting her crown back on for a Once Upon a Time reboot. "I've always had mixed feelings about it because the series ran for so long," Parrilla, 48, said in a clip from her upcoming Tuesday, August 19, appearance on the 'I've Never Said This Before' podcast, per Entertainment Weekly. "I was like, 'I don't know what more we can tell, these characters have been so deeply fleshed out.' But there's always more stories. And that character has a huge piece of my heart, so I would be open to it, for sure." Parrilla played Regina Mills, also known as the Evil Queen, on the ABC series, which ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. The show also starred Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Jennifer Morrison, Robert Carlyle and more. While Regina was one of the series' villains in the early seasons, she was a fan-favorite and ultimately was redeemed. "Regina was a special character, and she was an inspiration to so many people," Parrilla said of her character. "She started off as this really cold-hearted and hardened woman who was so vengeful. She wanted to hurt people because she was so deeply wounded — and to see her come out at the end as this hero and her journey to get there over the course of seven years was just so admirable.' Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas and More Looking back on the series five years later, Parrilla reflected on what great scripts she and her Once Upon a Time costars had during their tenure. "What I forgot about over the years is how great the writing is," she continued. "I mean, I know the writing is great; it has to start with that for a show to be successful. But I forgot how many quotes were great in it and how they were like more lessons for people.' Parrilla added that meeting so many devout fans over the years gave her a deeper understanding of why the show was such a hit. 'People grew from these characters and their lives changed, and that was something I don't think I would've understood had I not been meeting the fans over the years like I do,' she recalled. 'I would go back to [creators] Adam [Horowitz] and Eddie [Kitsis] and say, 'Do you guys realize what you've done?' It's changed lives.' Parrilla added that her time on the fantasy series was the first time she was 'part of something that magical.' Singer Tamar Braxton reveals she 'almost died' after bloody facial injury
Tamar Braxton is coping with a recent health scare. The "Celebrity Big Brother" winner, 48, took to her Instagram story on Aug. 19 to share that she'd broken her nose, lost "some teeth" and experienced impaired mobility over the weekend. "I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can't even really talk anymore I'm so weak," she wrote. "I almost died Sunday. I was found in a pool of blood from my friend with a face injury," she wrote." "As the days go by the worse it is," she continued. 'I fractured my nose, lost some teeth and mobility. The way I look at life now is totally different. As my health is on the mend my mental journey begins.. pray for me for real. I don't even know what happened to me.' USA TODAY has reached out to Braxton's representative for comment. Braxton, who hosts MTV's "Caught in the Act: Double Life," has a history of being open about her physical and mental struggles. As she competed on Season 21 of "Dancing with the Stars" in 2015, Braxton had to drop out of the competition after being hospitalized. What she'd thought was pneumonia was diagnosed as blood clots in her lungs. Years later, she spoke out against "toxic" forces in the television industry in 2020. After nearly a decade of starring on We TV's "Braxton Family Values" alongside her mother Evelyn and sisters, — Toni, Traci, Towanda, and Trina Braxton — she claimed she was "betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid." Braxton also mentioned her "cry for help" went unheeded, and she survived a suicide attempt.
