Tesla Opens Second Showroom In Delhi's Aerocity With Four Superchargers

NDTV2 days ago
Tesla, the US-based electric vehicle manufacturer, has opened its second showroom in India at Worldmark 2, Aerocity, Delhi. This comes right after the opening of the first showroom in BKC, Mumbai, on July 15, 2025. Covering an area of 8,200 sq ft, this will be the base of the brand to serve consumers in the national capital region. Located near the airport, embassies, and corporate offices, the showroom gives the brand more exposure to reach its target audience.
Leveraging the advantage of its location, Tesla has set up four V4 Superchargers in the basement parking. The EV manufacturer also has plans to introduce Superchargers in different locations in Delhi NCR, including Saket, Noida, and Horizon Center. This follows the inauguration of the first supercharger in Mumbai a few days ago. The expansion plans also include charging network setup in eight different locations, including places like Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur.
The V4 Supercharger, which consists of DC Chargers, is complemented by four Destination Charging Stalls that feature AC chargers. With these charging units available, the Supercharging stalls can achieve peak charging speeds of 250 kW, costing Rs 24/kW, while the 11 kW charging speed is priced at Rs 11/kW.
Using these chargers, the newly introduced Tesla Model Y can gain as much as 267 km of range in just 15 minutes of charging. To provide some perspective, the company states that this range is sufficient for five round trips between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the Gateway of India.
To utilize the charger, Tesla electric vehicle owners must connect their vehicles. Customers can check for availability using the Tesla app. This app also allows users to track the charging progress, get notifications during the charging process, and make payments for charging.

In India, the Tesla Model Y is available in both RWD (rear-wheel drive) and long-range RWD variants. The starting price for the RWD model is Rs 59.89 lakh, while the long-range version is priced at Rs 67.89 lakh. Thus, the complete on-road cost for the RWD model is Rs 61.07 lakh, while the on-road price for the long-range variant totals Rs 69.15 lakh.
In India, purchasers of the rear-wheel drive variant of the Tesla Model Y can choose between a 60 kWh battery or a larger 75 kWh battery pack. This RWD model is equipped with a single electric motor that generates approximately 295 hp. Furthermore, the 60 kWh battery is reported to have a WLTP range of 500 km when fully charged, while the long-range model is said to provide a range of 622 km.

Perplexity offers $34.5bn for Google's Chrome in bid to challenge search dominance

San Francisco-based Perplexity, valued at about $18bn, said large venture capital funds had agreed to fully finance the deal. The offer falls within analysts' estimates of Chrome's enterprise value, which range between $20bn and $50bn A Google logo is seen at a company research facility in Mountain View, California, U.S. Reuters Artificial intelligence start-up Perplexity has made an audacious $34.5 billion offer to buy Google's Chrome browser, positioning itself as a willing acquirer should a US court order its sale to curb Google's grip on the search market. The proposal, disclosed to The Wall Street Journal, comes as US District Judge Amit Mehta weighs remedies after ruling last year that Google illegally monopolised search. Mehta is expected to decide this month whether to force structural changes, including the possible divestiture of Chrome, which has 3.5bn users and controls over 60 per cent of the global browser market. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Offer well above Perplexity's own valuation San Francisco-based Perplexity, valued at about $18bn, said large venture capital funds had agreed to fully finance the deal. The offer falls within analysts' estimates of Chrome's enterprise value, which range between $20bn and $50bn. In a letter to Google chief executive Sundar Pichai, Perplexity said the bid was 'designed to satisfy an antitrust remedy in highest public interest by placing Chrome with a capable, independent operator.' It added it would continue to maintain Chromium, the open-source platform underpinning Chrome, and keep Google as the default search engine, though users could change settings. Google resists forced sale Pichai has argued that selling Chrome or sharing user data would harm Google's business, undermine investment in new technology and create security risks. During testimony earlier this year, he said such measures could weaken the browser's development. The Justice Department's 2020 antitrust lawsuit against Google has also raised other potential remedies, including limits on default search deals with device makers and requirements to share data with rivals. Google has proposed less sweeping changes, such as modifying its exclusive agreements with Apple, Mozilla and Android partners. A signal to the court Analysts suggest Perplexity's offer may be intended to show Judge Mehta there is a credible buyer for Chrome, strengthening the case for a divestiture. While legal experts say a forced sale remains unlikely, Mehta has described it as potentially 'cleaner and more elegant' than behavioural remedies. Founded in 2022, Perplexity recently launched its own browser, Comet, to a subset of users. The company is already entangled in legal disputes with two subsidiaries of News Corp, which have sued over alleged copyright infringement. The ruling, expected within weeks, could shape the future of both the search and browser markets— and determine whether Perplexity's multibillion-dollar offer ever moves beyond the proposal stage.

PM Modi to inaugurate UER-II, Dwarka Expressway on Sunday

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the 76-km UER-II, which has been developed as the third Ring Road of Delhi, and the Dwarka Expressway (29 km) on Sunday. These two roads are a key part of the Centre's Delhi decongestion plan and are expected to reduce congestion on the Ring Road and other arterial links of Delhi. The two interlinked access-controlled highways will ensure nonstop travel for vehicles coming from Chandigarh side towards IGI airport, Gurgaon and Jaipur. Sources said that all pending works have been completed. While Dwarka Expressway has been developed in four packages and cost around Rs 9,000 crore, the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) was divided in five packages and has been built at a total cost of Rs 7,716 crore. Though the Dwarka Expressway is fully operational, Modi had inaugurated the Haryana section of this high-speed corridor in Mar 2024, just ahead of the last Lok Sabha election. As per National Highways Authority of India, the UER-II starts from Alipur on NH-44 in Delhi and connects NH-9 and NH-48 in the national capital. The project was conceptualised as a part of Delhi Master Plan 2021. While around 54.2 km of it falls in Delhi, the remaining 21.5 km is in Haryana. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why Mr. Chirag Jain never exits a trade in loss — even when he's wrong TradeWise Learn More Undo The highway stretch provides connectivity to the proposed IICC in Dwarka through Dwarka Expressway.
