All set for mega DSC
According to the education department, a total of 3,36,305 candidates have submitted 5,77,675 applications and applied for various posts viz., school assistants, secondary grade teachers, school assistants (physical education), physical education teachers (PETs), principals, PGTs, TGTs etc., The department has received more than five lakh applications, reflecting the massive interest and enthusiasm among aspiring teachers.
The computer-based test (CBT) will be conducted from June 6 to 30 at 137 test centres arranged across the State and (17) outside State centres viz., Hyderabad, Kodad, Chennai, Bangalore and Berhampur.
The examination process will be monitored through live CCTV surveillance, and candidates will undergo biometric verification.
Section 144 CrPC will be enforced around exam venues to maintain law and order and prevent any malpractice. Candidates are required to download their Hall Tickets from the official mega DSC website: https://apdsc.apcfss.in/
Candidates will be allowed into the exam centre 90 minutes before the scheduled time and till 9 am for morning session and till 2 pm in the afternoon session. Entry will not be allowed without a valid hall ticket and photo identity proof.
Mobile phones, electronic gadgets, study material, or any other prohibited items will not be allowed into the exam hall.
By Thursday evening, 92 per cent candidates have downloaded hall tickets. The remaining candidates were instructed to download their hall tickets immediately.
The education department has announced that a dedicated DSC–2025 help desk has been set up for candidate support at both State and district levels. Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Wednesday approved amendments to the anti-conversion law to make it harsher, with stringent provisions like punishment up to life imprisonment and heavy fines being added to the new bill. The Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill-2025 was approved in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, official sources said. According to the bill, apart from strict punishment for illegal religious conversion, provisions such as ban on propaganda through digital medium and protection of victims have been added, they said. The definition of inducement has been expanded in the bill to include gifts, cash/goods benefits, employment, free education, promise of marriage, hurting religious faith or glorifying another religion, categorising all of them as crime. It makes punishable the acts like promoting or inciting conversion through social media, messaging app or any online medium. There is a provision in the bill for three to 10 years imprisonment for general violation, five to 14 years in cases related to sensitive class and 20 years to life imprisonment in serious cases and heavy fines. The proposed bill also makes a provision for strict punishment for marriage by creating fake identity or hiding religion besides making a provision for protection, rehabilitation, medical, travel and maintenance expenses of the victims of illegal conversions. According to the state government, the proposed legislation will protect the religious rights of the citizens, prohibit conversion by fraud, inducement or pressure and maintain social harmony, the sources said.

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand cabinet on Wednesday gave its nod to a strict Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which provides for a maximum punishment of life imprisonment and fine of up to Rs 10 lakh for "forced conversion", reports Kautilya Singh. The govt is likely to table the bill in the House for approval during the three-day monsoon session commencing on Aug 19. At present, the maximum jail term for such an offence is 10 years and the highest fine is Rs 50,000. The new bill proposes to raise the jail term to 14 years, and, in some cases, to 20 years which may even extend to life imprisonment. Arrests can be made without a warrant and the DM can seize properties acquired through crimes related to conversion. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said: "Uttarakhand is Devbhoomi and a place where saints through the ages came to meditate. In last few years, there have been instances of demographic changes under guise of illegal conversions. " According to the new provisions, concealing religion for marriage is a crime, and offenders could face three to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rs 3 lakh. On "mass conversion", the document says it will attract imprisonment of not less than seven years and up to 14 years, and shall be liable to a fine not less than Rs 1 lakh.
