Wales football legend Gareth Bale has landed a new job as one of TNT Sports' main football pundits for the new season.
The former Real Madrid and Tottenham star has signed a deal with the broadcaster to become a central figure in its Premier League and Champions League coverage throughout the 2025/26 campaign, according to the Guardian. Bale replaces Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, who left TNT after 12 years having opted not to sign a new contract at the end of last season.
Bale has previously worked for TNT on its European football coverage, and is understood to have impressed bosses at the broadcaster with his analysis of Spurs' Europa League final win against United in May.
He will join Peter Crouch and Joe Cole as part of TNT's live coverage of the Premier League on Saturday lunchtimes, while Owen Hargreaves, Steve McManaman, Ally McCoist and Karen Carney are also among TNT's pundits for domestic and European action.
It is another big move for Bale, who retired from football at the age of 33 in the wake of Wales' disappointing campaign at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar - the nation's first World Cup for 64 years
A glittering career saw him win 111 caps for Wales, scoring a record 41 goals for his country and leading them to three major tournaments. At club level, he began his career at Southampton before becoming a star player at Tottenham Hotspur and sealing a then-world record £85 million move to Real Madrid.

After winning five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles during his time in Spain, he finished his career with a MLS Cup title with Los Angeles FC, retiring as one of the most highly-decorated players of the modern era with 18 trophies to his name.
Bale's new job with TNT comes after he revealed he wanted to buy his hometown club Cardiff City, with the former Wales skipper part of a consortium that made their interest in the League One club known by issuing an official letter of intent to Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan.
It was widely reported that a bid of around £40m had been tabled, although multiple club sources denied that claim. However, last month, Bale said that a "brand new offer" had been made.
Speaking to Front Office Sports Today, the former forward said he believed a "more than fair offer" has now been put forward, as he explained he was waiting for the club's response.
"It's exciting news," he said at the time. "We have a brand new offer on the table, it's recently just gone in. We think it's a great offer, one that we're very happy with.
"We think it's very fair, if not more than fair, and it's something we hope the current owners will take serious.

"We'd love them to accept so we can take full control and get on with what we want to do and create Cardiff into a club that we know it can be."
He later told ESPN: "We are interested in trying to take over Cardiff. We have actually put in a great new offer that we hope we can get feedback (from). We think it's a very good offer for where the club is at.
"It's kind of out of our hands now and we are looking forward to seeing what develops with that."

Paul Merson fears Liverpool have a 'major problem' ahead of title defence
Paul Merson fears that one piece of Liverpool's summer transfer business could leave them with a 'major problem' this season. Arne Slot's side stormed to the Premier League title last season, but have not rested on their laurels and instead launched an ambitious spending spree this summer. Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have arrived to strengthen Liverpool's full-back options, while Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike have been brought in for big money to bolster their attacking ranks. Given their dominance last season, Liverpool will go off as favourites to defend their title, but not everybody is convinced just yet. The Reds were not at their best when they lost the Community Shield to Crystal Palace last weekend, with the under-par performance of Mohamed Salah of particular note. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. And former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes that the Egyptian's display, and his relationship with new signing Frimpong, should be cause for concern ahead of the new season. 'It was a bit of a worrying performance from Salah at Wembley,' Merson told Sky Sports. 'I don't think I've seen a player play that badly before in a football match. 'But that can be Salah. He can go missing for a few weeks before going on a run of scoring in 10 matches on the trot or smashing in a hat-trick. 'One thing that might be difficult for him this season is playing in front of Jeremie Frimpong. Compared to Trent Alexander-Arnold, he's more like an attacking winger.' Merson continued: 'With Trent, Salah could make any run and he'd be picked out. Trent would also attract defenders, leaving Salah more space. Trent could destroy you himself. 'Frimpong's a good player but he's not a destroyer. He plays so far forward that he's not a natural defender. Trent wasn't either but the same thing applies really, I think Ibrahima Konate could be too exposed. 'There's a major problem down that side of the pitch, even more so than last season.' Speaking after Liverpool's defeat to Crystal Palace, though, Slot was keen not to draw sweeping conclusions from his side's display. More Trending 'We've indeed replaced four players and sometimes you need some time either to adapt offensively or adapt defensively,' the Dutchman said. 'I don't feel we conceded that much today but again we conceded two goals because the first big chance they got resulted in the penalty. Maybe I forget a few chances but it felt to me that in the 78th minute, that was their second big chance of the game. 'But in general there were not many chances because they went to a low block [and] we had a lot of ball possession. 'But after the 2-2 they had [chances], so it needs maybe a little bit of adjustment defensively at the moment because we don't concede a lot of chances but we do concede goals at the moment.' Ally McCoist praises Chelsea for completing 'bargain' transfer signing
Ally McCoist has predicted where Chelsea will finish in the Premier League after a productive summer transfer window and the 'bargain' signing of Joao Pedro. Hopes have been raised that Chelsea can mount a title challenge after the Blues spent another £250m on new signings this summer. Brazil international Pedro is Chelsea's most expensive signing of the summer at £60m but McCoist believes even that represents a 'bargain'. Pedro spent two promising seasons at Brighton before moving to Stamford Bridge last month and hit the ground running for Chelsea, starring in the latter stages of their Club World Cup win. The 23-year-old continued to impress in pre-season, scoring two goals in the friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. Pedro will need to be at his best this season, however, given the competition he is likely to face from the likes of Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea for £30m at the start of the summer. Nicolas Jackson is also still on Chelsea's books for the time being but there is a sense the Senegal international will be sold before the transfer window shuts. 'Joao Pedro will be a fantastic signing for Chelsea,' McCoist told talkSPORT Bet. 'They have got a bit of a bargain there. 'I'll be honest with you, I thought Pedro would be a good signing but having seen the start he has had, he could be a great signing for Chelsea, he really could.' As well as signing Pedro and Delap this summer, Chelsea have welcomed Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato and Estevao Willian to Stamford Bridge. Jamie Gittens – £48m from Borussia Dortmund Joao Pedro – £55m from Brighton Liam Delap – £30m from Ipswich Town Mamadou Sarr – £12m from Lyon Dario Essugo – £18m from Sporting CP Estevao Willian – £29m from Palmeiras Kendry Paez – £17m from Independiente del Valle Jorrol Hato – £37m from Ajax The Blues are currently working on a deal for RB Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons and are also lining up a bid for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. Another productive summer in the transfer market has raised hopes that Chelsea can challenge for the title this season after finishing fourth last term. As well as qualifying for the Champions League, Chelsea won the Conference League under Enzo Maresca before causing an upset and becoming Club World Cup champions. But McCoist believes there is still a gap between Chelsea and the top-two from last season, Liverpool and Arsenal. 'I think Liverpool will win the league again this year and Arsenal will finish second again,' the former Scotland striker added. 'I went the other way last year and had Arsenal winning it, but I just think Liverpool have done some great business this summer. 'Arsenal I am looking forward to seeing. The Club World Cup will have an effect on Chelsea and Man City at some stage. I know they have big squads, but that was a long season. More Trending 'I think Chelsea will finish third and Man City will be fourth, which is a bizarre thing to say as that could come back and slap me in the face as they could easily go and win it. 'But [Kevin] De Bruyne has gone, probably at the right time to be fair, and there is a bit of a worry about them defensively. The fear factor is gone so that's why I have got them finishing fourth. 'I've got Aston Villa to finish fifth. They haven't had much activity this summer but Unai Emery is a top-class coach and I fully expect them to continue their improvement.' Chelsea's first Premier League match of the season is a London derby against FA Cup and Community Shield holders Crystal Palace on Sunday. For more stories like this, check our sport page. 2025/26 Premier League Specials: Odds for Golden Glove, most assists and top at Christmas
Liverpool to be top at Christmas - 2/1 Bet365 Mo Salah to register the most assists - 3/1 Bet365 David Raya to win the Golden Glove - 5/4 Bet365 The Premier League returns in August as the country's top sides once again battle out for the title, survival and European football across the span of the next nine months. England's top flight remains one of the most popular football leagues on the planet, with plenty of interest from fans around the world, and betting sites are preparing for the new season with a range of Premier League betting markets. While the usual debates will rage on regarding title contenders, the battle for top four and the fight to avoid relegation, betting sites regularly put together special markets both before and during the new season, with Premier League odds on markets including the golden glove, the top assister, teams to be top at Christmas and plenty more. And ahead of the new season beginning this month, we've picked out our favourite three special markets available across football betting sites, with odds on Liverpool to be top at Christmas, Mo Salah to register the most assists and David Raya to win the Golden Glove, with a three-fold acca paying out at 27/1 with Bet365 in the latest Premier League odds. Liverpool enter the 2025/26 season as the favourites in the Premier League winner odds to retain the trophy they won at a canter last term, with notable additions to Arne Slot's squad meaning the bookies are backing them to win a 21st top-flight title. The signings of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez – as well as the potential addition of Alexander Isak – means that Slot has added serious quality to a team that won the league by 10 points last season, and though the additions mean that the squad may take time to settle, it is a team that is still better than its rivals (on paper anyway) from the off. With Manchester City needing to bleed in their own major signings in key positions and Arsenal appearing yet to have solved their own attacking shortcomings, it looks like Liverpool will be best-placed to set the early pace in 2025/26. Slot's side were narrowly top of the league at Christmas of 2024, setting a blistering early pace that was only matched – however briefly – by Chelsea before the Reds began to run away with it. Though you would expect something different to happen this season, you'd also expect Liverpool to sustain a title challenge, and being top at Christmas will be a big part of that. Bet365 Premier League specials betting: Salah to get close to assist record? The Premier League assist record remains one of the most elusive records in the top flight, with Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne both having hit 20 in one season. Last term, Mo Salah registered 18 assists but couldn't get the record despite having a few games to do so, though the Egyptian won't be too dismayed considering how his season went overall. And while Salah's 47 goal involvements carried Liverpool to the title in 2024/25, his role in the side may be very different this season with the arrival of Ekitike and potentially Isak. However, he remains one of the leading contenders in the Premier League top scorer odds to win the Golden Boot again. With more of a recognised starting striker present, and with the help of a smaller goalscoring burden, Salah could well register a similar amount of assists as last season, perhaps even teetering near the record once again. While players including Bukayo Saka and teammate Wirtz should be up there, Salah looks like a solid bet on betting sites to finish 2025/26 with the most assists in the league. Premier League specials betting: Arsenal to keep best defensive record Arsenal have boasted the best defensive record in the league over the last two seasons, conceding just 25 goals last term and 29 the season before that. Mikel Arteta has emphasised defensive solidity as the focal point of his Gunners side, with the central pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba emerging as one of the best on the planet. And the team's defensive capabilities mean that David Raya has now won two golden gloves in a row, with the Spaniard keeping 16 clean sheets in 2023/24 before sharing the award with Nottingham Forest's Matz Sels last season, with both keeping 13 clean sheets. Such is Arteta's focus on the defensive side of the game that it looks like Arsenal are best-placed to keep the most clean sheets in the league once again. Of their main competitors, Liverpool tend to prioritise goalscoring over clean sheets and have a more all-action defence (especially with the additions of flying full-backs Frimpong and Kerkez) while City may need to strengthen in this area ahead of the new season if they're to keep anywhere as many clean sheets as the Gunners. Don't rule out another surprise keeper in there – like Sels was last year – though it looks like Raya is well-placed to make it three golden gloves in a row in 2025/26. If you're having a bet on the football, it's vital to practice responsible gambling. Betting can be addictive, and it's important to stay in control of your gambling, whether you're using online bookies, casino sites, slot sites, bingo sites or any other gambling platform. Never treat gambling as a way to make money, never bet more than you can afford and when the fun stops, stop. Gambling sites offer punters tools, like deposit limits, profit and loss trackers and self-exclusion options, to help you stay in control. Try not to get too seduced by free bet offers or casino bonuses, which are widely available on gambling apps. But if you ever feel like you need help or advice on gambling addiction, don't hesitate to contact one of the charities or organisations below.
