2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Review, Pricing, and Specs
Overview
No matter what kind of work or play you have in mind, the half-ton Chevy Silverado 1500 can handle it. Engine options include a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbo-diesel six, and a pair of gas V-8s, and then there are the usual cab and box configuration choices. The trim lineup spans from the basics up to the High Country's everything-included approach, although the materials and design don't quite match the best of the Ram 1500's lineup or even the fanciest F-150. Other options in the vast Silverado lineup include the off-road-hungry Silverado 1500 ZR2, the Silverado EV, and the Silverado HD, all of which are reviewed separately.
What's New for 2026?
There are just a handful of changes to the Silverado for this year. The previous Realtree Special Edition becomes the dealer-installed Realtree Appearance Package, and availability of the hunting brand tie-in expands to more configurations. There are some changes to the color palette, too: Iridescent Pearl Tricoat and Slate Gray Metallic make way for White Sands and Polar White Tricoat.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is expected to start around $38,000 and go up to $65,000 depending on the trim and options.

While the base-level Work Truck and Custom trims are well-suited for tradespeople and folks on a tighter budget, the LT model is where the fancier interior comes into play; we think it's the one to get. We'd also configure our Silverado with the crew cab and standard-length bed for maximum cargo and passenger space. We'd choose the 5.3-liter V-8 over the optional diesel engine because it's cheaper and quicker. Unlike the standard turbo-four, the V-8 also lets us select the Z71 Off-Road package with a host of upgraded hardware that makes playing in the dirt and mud easier and more fun.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
A range of engines—including a turbocharged four-cylinder, a pair of V-8s, and a Duramax diesel 3.0-liter inline-six—means there's a Silverado 1500 powertrain for any job or adventure. The 6.2-liter V-8 makes 420 horsepower while the smaller 5.3-liter makes 355 horsepower. The turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder makes 310 horsepower, and the diesel makes 277. Every version of the Silverado we've driven felt smaller than its size suggests. The truck's handling is surprisingly agile, and the brake pedal provides firm and reassuring feedback. Those looking for a more rugged half-ton Silverado will appreciate the Trail Boss models. They feature a 2.0-inch lift, gnarly tires, and other upgrades that make taking the path less traveled easier and more entertaining. The ZR2 is the most serious off-roader, and we review it separately.
0–60-MPH Times
With the larger 6.2-liter V-8, the Silverado High Country we tested hit 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. For comparison, the smaller 355-hp 5.3-liter needed 6.1 seconds. The diesel-powered Silverado we tested had the slowest acceleration of the bunch, but we were impressed by the engine's smooth and quiet operation.

Towing and Payload Capacity
With a max towing capacity of 13,300 pounds, the half-ton Silverado is a seriously capable hauler. It beats the Ram 1500's max-tow rating by 550 pounds but trails the F-150's by 700. Chevy's top tow rating is accessible with the 6.2-liter V-8, but the 5.3-liter version can still handle as much as 11,500 pounds. Models with the turbocharged four-cylinder can tow up to 9,500 pounds. The Chevy pickup's powertrains matter less when it comes to payload, which ranges from 1,870 to 2,280 pounds.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The EPA hasn't released any fuel economy information for the 2026 Silverado 1500 yet, but the 2025 model earned combined ratings ranging from a high of 26 mpg with the diesel and rear-wheel drive down to 15 mpg for models equipped with four-wheel drive, the 6.2-liter V-8, and chunky off-road tires. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, we saw 26 mpg with the four-wheel-drive diesel, 21 mpg with the 5.3-liter, 19 mpg with the 6.2-liter, and just 18 mpg with a four-wheel-drive turbo four. For more information about the Silverado 1500's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
From the stripped-down Work Truck model to the decked-out High Country, the Silverado can be configured in a multitude of ways. Base models offer nothing but the essentials, including manually adjustable front seats, manual locks and windows, and vinyl seats. However, starting on the LT trim, the cabin is significantly snazzier thanks to a more handsome dashboard design with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a huge center touchscreen. The High Country's interior looks particularly pretty with its leather upholstery and open-pore wood trim. While the crew cab has an enormous rear seat with generous headroom, we found the cushions back there to be uncomfortable. Still, this is a practical hauler, featuring clever storage cubbies spread throughout the cabin. While the Chevy lacks the carbon-fiber-reinforced cargo bed that's offered on the half-ton Sierra, it's now available with a similar multifunction tailgate, dubbed Multi-Flex. Plus, the Chevy's range of different bed lengths will undoubtedly satisfy traditionalists.

Infotainment and Connectivity
Every Silverado 1500 is equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a mobile hotspot. The physical knobs and buttons make interacting with the system painless, and we appreciated the screen's prompt responses to our touch inputs. The LT trim and up has a horizontal 13.4-inch touchscreen with enhanced features such as a Google-powered voice assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and available Amazon Alexa integration.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Every Silverado comes with an impressive list of standard driver-assistance technology, and it can be fitted with a host of towing assists that make pulling and hooking up a trailer easier. The top-tier High Country can even be equipped with Super Cruise, GM's hands-free-driving technology that Chevy says even works while pulling a trailer. For more information about the Silverado's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking
Standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Chevy covers the half-ton Silverado with a competitive warranty that includes one complimentary scheduled maintenance visit. That's not as good as the Toyota Tundra, which one-ups Chevy with two years or 25,000 miles of complimentary maintenance. Otherwise, Toyota's coverage is identical to Chevrolet's.
Limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles
Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
Complimentary maintenance is covered for the first visit

Why Netflix Should Replace Tesla in the "Magnificent Seven"
Tesla has been a huge winner for investors over the long haul, but the business is dealing with notable issues these days. Netflix continues to report double-digit percentage revenue growth and impressive profitability as it leads the streaming industry. The "Magnificent Seven" isn't an official index, but Netflix deserves to be included over the EV maker. 10 stocks we like better than Netflix › Looking back over the past decade and beyond, I don't think there are many folks out there who would deny just how impressive Tesla's success has been. This innovative business, led by polarizing CEO Elon Musk, disrupted the global auto industry with its electric vehicles (EVs). While the EV stock trades 32% below its peak (as of June 10), that's still a gain of 1,810% in the past 10 years. That long-term performance made it one of the world's largest tech companies, which is why Bank of America analyst Michael Hartnett gave it a spot in the "Magnificent Seven" when he introduced the idea of the group in 2023. However, I think it's time to swap the EV maker out of this unofficial grouping and replace it with the more-deserving Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX). Over the years, Tesla shareholders grew used to seeing the company register jaw-dropping sales growth. The picture isn't so rosy anymore, though. Its automotive revenue declined 20% year over year in Q1. In 2024, it reported its first-ever year-over-year drop in deliveries. And the company's profitability has continued to slide as higher interest rates and a more competitive environment have put downward pressure on demand for its vehicles. Musk's push in the political arena might at first have been viewed positively by some investors, as he was positioning himself to have more influence in Washington, D.C., which could have benefited Tesla from a regulatory perspective. But both his time in President Donald Trump's inner circle and his more recent exit from politics, as well as his highly public spat with Trump, have been huge distractions that have certainly damaged Tesla's brand instead. It's safe to say that a company that was once in the fast lane is now stuck in traffic. Tesla will have a lot of work to do in order to get back to its prior glory. While Tesla faces a battle to get itself back on track, Netflix continues to flourish. The streaming stock is up 1,200% in the last decade. The company added 41 million net new customers in 2024, bringing its total to nearly 302 million at year's end. While Netflix chose to stop publicly reporting the number of subscribers it has starting this year, it did increase revenue by 12.5% year over year in the first quarter. It might seem like this streaming platform has saturated its market. However, co-CEO Greg Peters believes there are still "hundreds of millions of folks to sign up." By continuing to focus on creating compelling content offerings all over the world, Netflix is in a position to keep its expansion going. Wall Street's consensus analyst estimates are for its revenue to rise at a compound annual rate of 12.3% between 2024 and 2027. The streaming industry, like the automotive market, is extremely competitive. Netflix co-founder and former CEO Reed Hastings previously said that he counts sleep among the company's key competitors. I don't believe this was a stretch. Netflix goes up against all the other activities consumers can do when it's time to wind down and relax. But to be more specific, people have an almost unlimited number of viewing options at their fingertips today. Netflix is in the lead, though. Data from Nielsen shows that Netflix commanded 7.5% of video viewing time in the U.S. in April, only behind YouTube, which isn't necessarily an apples-to-apples comparison due to the latter largely featuring user-generated content. With its massive subscriber base, and trailing 12-month revenue of $40 billion, Netflix has the financial strength to spend a lot on content and marketing. And it's still able to bring in billions in free cash flow each year. It's important to highlight that the "Magnificent Seven" is not an official index like the S&P 500 is. However, with each passing quarter, Netflix continues to make the case that it deserves to be mentioned with the tech giants in that group. Given the streaming pioneer's ongoing success, it belongs in that exclusive club instead of Tesla. Before you buy stock in Netflix, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the for investors to buy now… and Netflix wasn't one of them. The 10 stocks that made the cut could produce monster returns in the coming years. Alex Bowman battles severe back pain to race in Mexico City after Michigan crash
MEXICO CITY -- Alex Bowman wasn't sure he was going to make the trip to Mexico City because of lower back pain suffered in 'the hardest hit of my career' at Michigan last week. As late as Wednesday — the day before he was scheduled to leave for NASCAR's first points-paying Cup Series race of the modern era outside the United States — the Hendrick Motorsports driver was so sore he didn't know if he'd be able to get in the car. He was still sore after two days of practice at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, but it was after he got out of his No. 48 Chevrolet and not while he was driving. Bowman said his hit registered 50 G-force. 'I don't know if on paper that's the biggest (hit) I've ever taken, but it's the most painful one I've ever taken, for sure,' Bowman said Saturday. 'Even compared to when I broke my back, it's way more pain than that was.' Bowman last Sunday slammed hard into the wall at Michigan in a head-on impact at approximately 150 mph. The hit was so fierce that it lifted the rear wheels in the air. Although nothing was broken, he has severe lower back pain on his right side that shoots into his leg. The 32-year-old kidded he's been a bit of a 'crash dummy' of late: Bowman missed five races in 2022 with a concussion suffered at Texas, and he broke his back in a 2023 sprint car crash that led Rick Hendrick to ban him from further extracurricular racing. Although he's ranked 13th in the Cup Series standings, he didn't want to miss a race considering the recent slump Bowman is going through. He has finished 27th or worse in seven of the last nine races and has five finishes of 35th or worse. Even though Bowman made it to Mexico City and says he feels fit enough inside the car, Anthony Alfredo is on standby in case Bowman can't complete Sunday's race on the 15-turn, 2.42-mile layout. Alfredo, a full-time driver in the Xfinity Series, does simulator work for Hendrick Motorsports. He has 42 starts in the Cup Series, including one start earlier this year at Talladega Superspeedway. Bowman, who qualified 29th, hopes to be able to complete the race. 'The goal is to get all the laps in and go from there,' Bowman said. 'It hasn't been a fun week at all. Wednesday was probably the worst day, but we're here and ready to go. It's all in the right side of my lower back and then through my lower right leg. Everything is really tight. It's all muscular. Definitely a lot of pain.' Shane Van Gisbergen won the pole for Sunday's race in Mexico City in a rain-shortened qualifying session. The New Zealander got in three qualifying laps and took the top spot with a lap of 93.904 mph to put his No. 88 Chevrolet from Trackhouse Racing out front. Van Gisbergen proved to be a master of racing on a wet road course in his NASCAR debut when he won on the rain-drenched street course in Chicago in 2023. That victory led to a career change for Van Gisbergen, who was an Australian V8 Supercars champion but made the move to NASCAR after shocking the Cup Series with his Chicago win. With rain expected Sunday in Mexico City, many believe Van Gisbergen is the favorite to pick up his second career Cup victory. He didn't want to claim that title, even though BetMGM Sportsbook has him listed as the +225 favorite. 'I don't know, that's your guys' jobs, but I do know that we will be competitive if we get everything right,' he said. "It's so hard to know what the car's going to be like — it's a different track, how it's going to be affected by the altitude and the surface. We should be up front. These are the types of tracks I'm good at, so we'll see.' But, he added he actually despises racing in the rain despite his superior skills at maneuvering slick surfaces. 'I absolutely hate racing in the rain, but I'm good at it," he said. "I'd rather it didn't rain, but if it happens, we put the wets on and go. I just don't enjoy it. It's just never fun. You're always sliding around, and it just turns stuff into chaos. It's fun to watch, but I don't really enjoy driving.' Ryan Preece in a Ford for RFK Racing qualified second and was followed by Ross Chastain, Van Gisbergen's teammate at Trackhouse. Ty Gibbs in fourth was the highest qualifying Toyota driver. Daniel Suarez has been feted as a hero since arriving home in Mexico for this weekend's race, but the joy was spoiled when he demolished his car during qualifying for the Xfinity Series race. The Saturday crash caused JR Motorsports to unload a backup for Suarez to race later in the day. The native of Monterrey is doing double duty this weekend, racing in both the Xfinity Series race and the Cup Series race for Trackhouse. He qualified 10th for the Cup race. But because of his crash, he had to start at the back of the Xfinity field. Suarez said his Chevrolet had some brake issues in practice that led to a debate over skipping qualifying. He ultimately went out on the track but his brakes failed in Turn 11 and the car did not stop or turn. Instead, it slid across the track and slammed nose-first into the barrier. The crash buried the No. 9 into the firewall, and Suarez climbed out of his mangled car unscathed.
