EY & SAP launch integrated finance service to drive growth

Techday NZ12-05-2025

EY has announced the launch of a new Integrated Finance Managed Service solution in collaboration with SAP, aimed at helping organisations accelerate their enterprise transformation.
The service model operates using SAP's cloud solutions and covers multiple core business functions, including human resources, payroll, finance operations, controllership, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, and application management.
EY's offering incorporates SAP S/4HANA Cloud together with EY's domain and industry experience. According to the company, the solution is designed to help high-growth businesses create value and bolster relationships with investors, regulators, and clients. EY has become a managed services provider with a "Run" focus as part of the SAP PartnerEdge programme. Through this ongoing collaboration with SAP, EY intends to help clients more rapidly achieve both strategic and operational goals.
The Integrated Finance Managed Services model is built on a robust data infrastructure and utilises an ecosystem of alliances. It is intended to provide rapid scalability and agility, as well as flexibility and resilience to support organisations as they transform and grow. The model also aims to promote improved governance and enhanced efficiency through automation, while relieving businesses of the burden of building, maintaining, and financing advanced technology, with the aim of freeing up capital for future innovation initiatives.
One of the early adopters is IntraBio, which used Integrated Finance Managed Services as part of its efforts to realign financial, human resources, and accounting processes around its core goal of developing and commercialising new products. By outsourcing finance processes, IntraBio was able to maintain its focus on bringing drugs to patients in need. This approach supported IntraBio's successful launch of AQNEURSA, a treatment for Niemann-Pick Disease Type C, following its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2024.
Marie-Laure Delarue, EY Global Vice Chair - Assurance, commented: "Businesses and their finance functions face intense challenges at the best of times, as they strive for growth in hugely competitive markets. In today's volatile economic and geopolitical climate, these challenges have only intensified."
"Through Integrated Finance Managed Services, we're able to lift some of the burden that so often hinders business transformation efforts, meaning they can turn their attention to the real drivers of success. As IntraBio's story clearly shows, companies that can redirect their time and energy toward their priorities can reap incredible rewards in terms of innovation, product development, and ultimately their competitive edge."
In addressing the operational considerations faced by businesses, Raj Sharma, EY Global Managing Partner - Growth and Innovation, said: "The world's most innovative companies with bold growth and transformation plans are often weighed down by non-core tasks, diverting valuable executive time and resources. Well-structured enterprise functions are critical to scaling and sustaining success, but without the right support, it can become a distraction from the strategic priorities that drive real value."
"The Integrated Finance Managed Services solution can provide companies with a new model, helping businesses operate more efficiently and enabling leaders to focus on what matters most. We believe this solution can fundamentally change how clients think about their enterprise functions."
Thomas Saueressig, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, Customer Services & Delivery, added: "Through this collaboration with EY, we are excited to combine SAP's leading cloud suite, enriched with Business AI capabilities, and EY teams' deep domain and industry experience to help deliver better insights and drive better outcomes for customers."
EY's solution is positioned as an option for organisations seeking to shift focus from operational management to strategic business objectives, responding to increasing pressure in finance and other business-critical domains in the current economic and regulatory environment.

SAP Concur unveils AI-powered travel solution for ANZ markets

SAP Concur has introduced its updated Concur Travel solution for the Australian and New Zealand markets, incorporating automation and artificial intelligence tools to streamline corporate travel management. The latest version of Concur Travel incorporates the AI-powered Request Assistant for automatic cost estimates before trips are booked. SAP's generative AI assistant, Joule, is expected to be integrated in the future, offering predictive cost estimates, dynamic itinerary management, and intelligent meeting location suggestions. With this planned integration, Joule will use historical employee data and live information to provide business trip estimates, aiming to create a planning environment that supports long-term corporate needs. SAP Concur says these developments are designed to help organisations plan more proactively, reduce operational overheads, improve the accuracy of travel arrangements, and bolster employee satisfaction. Jonathan Beeby, Managing Director, SAP Concur Australia and New Zealand, said, "Businesses need more streamlined, intelligent ways to manage employee travel. The new Concur Travel experience answers this demand by consolidating travel bookings, policy compliance, and sustainability insights into a connected, mobile-first solution. This culminates in a full picture of organisational travel while empowering employees to book and manage business trips with ease." The redesigned user interface is now available across both mobile and desktop platforms, and features updated content, improved visuals, and increased emphasis on sustainability data. Travellers can more easily access carbon emission statistics and choose eco-friendly travel options, aligning with business objectives and personal preferences. Enhanced search capabilities allow users to find trips by airport, city, or company location, supporting greater efficiency in travel planning. Discussing the integration of travel and expense data, Beeby stated, "The real power of the solution is in the convergence of travel and expense data. Using new Concur Travel with Concur Expense gives organisations a consolidated view of all spending activity for real-time decision-making. Travel bookings automatically populate expense reports, minimising manual data entry and errors, while integrated policy enforcement tools embed compliance into every stage of the employee journey. This approach strengthens financial oversight and expedites employee reimbursements, driving better outcomes across finance and HR functions." SAP Concur's enhancements also focus on the user experience. Features such as integration with Microsoft Teams for travel collaboration, one-way flex fare options to allow more flexibility in booking, and new timeline views have been implemented. The goal is to reduce complexity, foster higher engagement, improve compliance rates, and minimise incidents where employees book outside approved channels. The solution aims to address the current challenges faced by businesses attempting to balance cost control and regulatory compliance with employee needs for flexibility and convenience. SAP Concur notes that disconnected or fragmented systems can lead to inefficiencies, lack of visibility over travel data, and greater compliance risks. The company describes its ecosystem as one where travel bookings and compliance monitoring operate within a unified environment, allowing businesses to improve efficiency and responsiveness without requiring users to change their existing login credentials, URLs, or mobile applications during the transition. Beeby added, "The new Concur Travel solution gives ANZ businesses a critical opportunity to modernise their travel strategies with localised support for one-way faring, updated policy enforcement by trip leg, and enhanced sustainable travel options. Organisations can streamline operations, empower employees, and drive better business outcomes by embracing an integrated, data-driven approach to travel management. SAP Concur is committed to equipping its customers to lead the way as corporate travel continues to evolve."

Capgemini expands partnership for secure generative AI with SAP

Capgemini has announced the expansion of its strategic partnership with Mistral AI and SAP to provide secure generative AI-powered solutions for organisations in regulated industries. The collaboration is intended to support sectors such as financial services, public sector, aerospace and defence, and energy and utilities, all of which have especially stringent data requirements. By leveraging Mistral AI's generative AI models together with SAP's Business Technology Platform (BTP), Capgemini plans to develop accessible business AI use cases that also seek to minimise environmental impact through a lower carbon footprint. Custom business AI solutions will be made available within SAP through a library of more than 50 pre-built use cases. These use cases draw on models from Mistral AI and have been validated by SAP, covering a range of industry-specific and process-driven needs. The solutions have been designed in accordance with regulations, incorporating responsible and ethical AI principles, built-in governance, and a focus on data security. Examples of use cases provided by the collaboration include augmented field workers in aerospace and defence to help resolve non-conformities in operations, drone-based inspection for predictive maintenance in energy and utilities, and intelligent indirect purchasing processes applicable across a variety of industries to streamline supplier selection. Capgemini stated that the collaboration aims to help organisations accelerate the deployment of customised generative AI solutions within SAP, particularly for those organisations that require secure environments to meet regulatory or privacy obligations. Marjorie Janiewicz, Mistral AI Executive Board member and Global Head of Revenue, said, "This new collaboration between Capgemini, Mistral AI and SAP unlocks new high-value business use cases for organizations seeking to augment their operations with generative AI capabilities. By combining our frontier, multilingual and highly customizable AI models with Capgemini's expertise in delivering real world industry-specific generative AI solutions, and the assurance of SAP's robust technology platform, we are making the effective integration of AI more accessible for all organizations, including those in highly regulated industries." Fernando Alvarez, Chief Strategy and Development Officer and Group Executive Board member at Capgemini, added, "Enterprises are increasingly turning to generative AI to enhance their resilience, streamline operations and accelerate time to value. As a trusted business and technology transformation partner to our clients, Capgemini is committed to helping them evolve their critical business processes through the secure and tailored application of AI. Together with Mistral AI and SAP, we can empower organizations to access a broad range of innovative and customized AI models, to drive significant business value and foster sustainable growth." Thomas Saueressig, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, Customer Services and Delivery, commented, "The collaboration is a powerful example of how we are enabling enterprises to leverage the power of generative AI to address their most critical business challenges. With SAP Business Technology Platform as a secure and scalable foundation, we're enabling organizations, especially those in regulated industries, to adopt AI with confidence, trust, and speed in a way that delivers real business value." Capgemini has also worked closely with SAP to expand its dedicated Global SAP Center of Excellence, which helps organisations tackle critical business challenges with generative AI. The partners have previously collaborated with Brose, an automotive supplier, to deliver an AI-powered assistant for suppliers known as SupplierGPT. This platform, built on SAP BTP, has enhanced efficiency within Brose's supplier network by improving onboarding and standardising processes. Michael Seifert, Business Product Owner Brose Supplier Portal, Brose Fahrzeugteile SE & Co. KG, remarked, "Together with Capgemini, we were able to implement SupplierGPT, from idea to reality within a few weeks. This solution enables the seamless integration of new innovations and supports rapid go-to-market, thanks to the AI services in SAP BTP. This co-innovation model combines the expertise of Capgemini, Brose and SAP to allow joint pilots to be designed, implemented, and tested quickly." Capgemini's efforts in this space have been recognised with the 2025 SAP Pinnacle Award for Business AI Innovation in the Customer AI use case category. The award highlights the performance and achievements of SAP's partners around the world who demonstrate capability in delivering AI-powered solutions.

SAP & Icertis deepen partnership with AI contract extension

Icertis is working with SAP to embed its contract intelligence platform into SAP solutions, making it available as a solution extension called SAP Ariba Contract Intelligence by Icertis. The collaboration is intended to offer businesses real-time actionable insights, increased productivity and improved financial outcomes through the use of AI-powered contract intelligence. According to Icertis, its contract intelligence platform will now be offered as a solution extension under SAP's premium qualification process, with ongoing support from SAP's service teams. This integration builds on the existing partnership between the two companies and aims to enable faster product deployment and reduced time to value. The companies say benefits include one-stop licensing, deeper preconfigured product integrations, and an enhanced user experience for customers adopting the new platform. There are over 25,000 SAP partners globally, but only around 40 partners hold the exclusive status required to contribute a SAP Solution Extension. The availability of SAP Ariba Contract Intelligence by Icertis marks a significant development for both companies within SP's partner ecosystem. Contracts are described by Icertis as the foundation of all business relationships, setting out the rules of how businesses buy, sell, and partner. Traditionally, contracts have been static documents, but Icertis says its platform transforms these documents into actionable business rules, directly integrated within the SAP user experience. This, according to the company, enables customers to drive revenue, control costs, mitigate risk, and maintain compliance by linking structured contract data to business processes. Manoj Swaminathan, General Manager and Chief Product Officer, Business Suite, Finance & Spend, SAP, commented on the development: "Contract intelligence plays an increasingly critical role in enterprise operations. This expansion in our partnership with Icertis aims to help more businesses reimagine how they leverage contracts as an essential pillar of their long-term growth strategies." Anand Subbaraman, Chief Operating Officer, Icertis, said: "Contracts define the rules of business yet 90 percent of CEOs believe they're losing money in contract negotiations, and more than 9 percent of a contract's value is lost post-signature – adding up to billions of dollars in potential lost revenue and overpayment. For years, managing the full scope of global contract obligations felt daunting, but together, SAP and Icertis have transformed that challenge into an opportunity through AI-powered contract intelligence. Our plan to become a solution extension underscores our partnership and reinforces the vital role of contracts in a holistic technology strategy that accelerates measurable outcomes." Icertis is an AI-powered contract intelligence partner for technology companies and global systems integrators, and according to MGI Research, it is three times the size of the next pure-play contract lifecycle management vendor. The combined efforts of Icertis and SAP are expected to help enterprises digitally manage and integrate their contracts into core business functions. The companies aim to provide enterprises with actionable data and insights from contracts in real time, supporting growth, cost control, and risk mitigation initiatives.
