All-party delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha arrives in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur [Malaysia], May 31 (ANI): The all-party delegation led by JD (U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, visiting key world capitals as part of the Modi government's big diplomatic outreach after Operation Sindoor, arrived in Malaysia on Saturday. The delegation was welcomed by the Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia, BN Reddy.
They landed in Malaysia after successfully completing the Indonesia leg of the outreach program under Operation Sindoor.
Earlier on Friday, while addressing the Indian diaspora in Jakarta, India reiterated's new approach in combating cross-border terrorism from Pakistan.
'The new India will not just share information and data. If anything happens to the country, 'India ab andar ghus ke marega'...PM Modi said very clearly that this is the new normal. Our nation is progressing, and there is peace,' said Jha.
He emphasised that terrorists' attempts to spread communal disharmony have failed, showcasing India's maturity in handling such incidents.
'The way terrorists targeted a particular community, their purpose was to spread communal disharmony in our country, but we are a mature nation. Even a small incident did not erupt...,' Jha said while addressing the diaspora.
The delegation's mission is to showcase India's resolve against terrorism and garner international support for a united stand against this global threat. The Indian government's diplomatic outreach efforts aim to strengthen partnerships with countries in East and Southeast Asia, emphasising the need for a collective response to the threat of terrorism.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.
Indian armed forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
After the attack, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres and airfields across 11 airbases in Pakistan.
After this, on May 10, an understanding regarding the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced.
The delegation to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Singapore is led by JD-U MP Sanjay Kumar Jha and includes Aparajita Sarangi (BJP), Abhishek Banerjee (Trinamool Congress), Brij Lal (BJP), John Brittas (CPI-M), Pradan Baruah (BJP), Hemang Joshi (BJP), Salman Khurshid and Mohan Kumar. Punjab: Paddy MSP hike meagre, says SKM
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has condemned the minimum support price (MSP) that was announced for 14 crops for the current kharif season by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on May 28. The government has increased the paddy rate to ₹2,369 per quintal (100 kg) from last year's ₹2,300. In a statement, the SKM mentioned, 'The MSP is not based on Swaminathan Commission's recommendation of C2+50% formula. Had it been implemented, the paddy MSP should have been ₹3,135 per quintal. The average production in India for paddy is 25-30 quintals per acre and the loss due to non-implementation of Swaminathan Commission's recommendation for farmers on one-acre production will be in the range of ₹19,150 to ₹22,980, which is three times higher than ₹6,000 being provided under the PM Kisan Nidhi,' the SKM leaders stated. The C2 formula of calculating the cost of cultivation includes the cost of capital and the rent on the land to give farmers 50% returns. A senior SKM leader, Sukhdev Singh Kokrikalan, said the group and the farmer's organisations across the country were consistently demanding implementation of the C2+50% formula for MSP with guaranteed procurement as promised in the election manifesto of the BJP in the 2014 general election. 'However, the BJP-led Union government under PM Modi has been betraying the farmers for the 12th year by not increasing the MSP using the C2+50% formula,' he said. The SKM added the rate of inflation and the rising prices of fertilisers, seed and other input materials, including petroleum products, and the living cost were much higher than the MSP hike. The SKM has also decided to ensure active participation in a nationwide general strike at tehsil and block level on July 9.

"Will negotiate a fair balance," Piyush Goyal optimistic of wrapping up FTA with EU by year end
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed optimism that India could finalise its Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union (EU) ahead of the year-end deadline, citing minimal divergences between the two economic blocs. Goyal emphasised the complementary nature of the Indian and European economies. "There are not too many issues where we have divergence of opinion. We have both complementary economies," he stated. "In most cases, what is of offensive interest to India does not hurt the European economy. And likewise, goods and services that Europe would like to provide to India only support our growth story." The minister acknowledged that certain sensitive areas require careful negotiation on both sides. "Obviously, in any trading relationship, there are certain sensitive issues on both sides which we have to resolve amicably in the interest of both the European Union and India," Goyal noted. India has positioned itself strongly on key issues concerning the EU, particularly regarding gender equality and sustainability. "We are proud of our sisters and our women and the fantastic work they have done and continue to do," Goyal said. "Therefore, if you have a subject like gender, India is on the front foot. When it comes to subjects like sustainability, India is right at the forefront." Both sides have raised specific concerns that must be addressed in the negotiations. "We have certain concerns about European Union practices and regulations. Likewise, they have certain areas of things they would like to discuss," the minister explained. Goyal expressed confidence that these issues could be resolved through fair negotiation. "Some issues are on the table and we will negotiate a fair balance and free trade agreement," he said. "There would be many issues on both sides which will come up for discussion so that we can come up with a robust agreement that will support market access and promote easier trade." The minister clarified that free trade agreements operate independently of domestic business reforms. "Free trade agreements stand on their footing. They have no relationship to our internal domestic effort to make it attractive to do investments and businesses," he explained. Instead, FTAs focus on market liberalisation that benefits both economies. "Free trade agreements are more towards opening markets on both sides, which leads to greater competitiveness, improved productivity and efficiency in all processes," Goyal said. The agreement is expected to create broader economic opportunities across multiple sectors. "It opens the doors to larger engagement, be it in goods, services, investments, all areas related to the economy," the minister noted. "All of this benefits 1.4 billion consumers." The India-EU FTA negotiations represent a significant step in strengthening economic ties between India and one of the world's largest trading blocs. The agreement aims to reduce trade barriers, enhance market access, and create new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
