CHICAGO (AP) — Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to help the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs 2-1 on Friday.
The Pirates loaded the bases in the 10th on Ke'Bryan Hayes' infield single and a walk to Henry Davis. Kiner-Falefa then drove in Adam Frazier with a flyball to left off Drew Pomeranz (2-1).

Kiner-Falefa also threw out Ian Happ when he attempted to score from first on Kyle Tucker's two-out double in the fifth inning.
Dennis Santana (2-1) got five outs for the win, and David Bednar worked a perfect 10th for his 10th save.
Pirates ace Paul Skenes struck out five in five scoreless innings. He allowed four hits and walked two while throwing 95 pitches, 60 for strikes.
Skenes was matched by Cade Horton, who permitted three hits in 5 2/3 shutout innings for the NL Central leaders.

Bundesliga set for longer games as Germany embraces more added time in soccer
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Bundesliga games will take longer this season as Germany joins a drive to calculate added time more precisely. Germany's top men's league is the latest to follow a trend set by the 2022 World Cup and the English Premier League by measuring the exact time taken up by events like red cards, penalties and injuries, and adding that amount on at the end of each half. 'We currently have just under 60 minutes of net playing time (with the ball in play), which will probably increase somewhat,' said Knut Kircher, the German refereeing body's managing director of sports and communication, in comments reported Tuesday by German agency dpa. The new Bundesliga season starts Aug. 22 but the changes have already taken effect in the men's second and third tiers. Red Bull moves into rugby by taking full ownership of English club Newcastle
NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Red Bull's sporting portfolio now includes a top-flight English rugby union team after the energy drinks giant took full ownership of Newcastle Falcons on Tuesday. The club has been rebranded as Newcastle Red Bulls ahead of the new season starting next month, and said the move will embrace 'the innovative approach that Red Bull has brought to its sports initiatives across the world.' They include stakes in a number of soccer teams, including Leipzig, Salzburg and Leeds, as well as in Formula One. Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently became Red Bull's head of global soccer. Newcastle plays in the top domestic league, newly called the Gallagher Prem, and has won five major titles, including the league championship in 1998. One of its most notable former players is England great Jonny Wilkinson. Newcastle's last trophy was the domestic cup in 2004.
