‘Happy Life Day' at 7 Brew celebrates AJ Presto's road to recovery
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – 7 Brew Coffee is proving that they remain #PrestoStrong with a celebratory community event.
7 Brew in Binghamton, located at 1322 Front Street, is hosting 'Happy Life Day' on Saturday in honor of Chenango Valley High School senior AJ Presto.
Last summer, Presto was in a serious swimming accident and suffered a severe spinal cord injury. Presto then experienced two ICU stays and eight major surgeries.
This month marks one year since the accident. With the unwavering support of his family, friends, and the community, Presto has made incredible progress. He is looking ahead to graduation and embracing the next chapter of his life.
To support Presto's ongoing recovery, $1 from every drink sold between 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. will be donated to his medical expenses.
'We rallied with the community last year to help raise funds for AJ and his family after theaccident, and it was amazing to see how we all came together,' said Keli Oven, local 7 Brewfranchise operator. 'AJ is an inspiration, and 7 Brew is honored to celebrate his courage throughall of this.'
7 Brew will also be giving out free prizes all day, including stickers, exclusive merch, gift cards, cases of 7 Energy, and more. In addition, one lucky customer will take home a grand prize, a 7 Brew Gift Basket filled with #PrestoStrong gear, 7 Brew merch, and a month of free drinks.

Ladron de Guevara, a U.S. citizen, said Gonzalo was stopped by immigration authorities at O'Hare and held based on a felony charge that the family says was dismissed 13 years ago. He is currently being held in an ICE detention facility. She said Gonzalo was initially detained for seven days before being transferred to ICE custody. The family has hired an immigration attorney to help navigate the legal process. Legal fees have already totaled $4,000. Ladron de Guevara described the detention conditions as "deplorable," saying her husband slept on the floor, used unsanitary bathrooms and was surrounded by people experiencing medical crises, including drug withdrawal. "He said that they're just bringing in more and more every day. He was detained at O'Hare on May 24th coming back from Mexico, where he went to scatter his mother's ashes with his brothers. So he left here May 6th, and we have not seen him since then," Jodi said. What's next A GoFundMe created to support the family's legal expenses has raised more than $6,000. Ladron de Guevara said her husband is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in federal court July 9 in Chicago.

St. Paul woman asks help to find ex missing while climbing Andes in Peru
A St. Paul woman and local university researcher has set up a GoFundMe account to help in the search for her former husband and Minnesota resident, after he went missing while climbing a mountain in the Peruvian Andes. Natalia Mossmann Koch of St. Paul said that her former husband, Edson Vandeira, is a professional mountaineer who was on the mountain for practice. Vandeira, a native of Brazil and a former Minnesotan, was with two other climbers from Peru. The three were part of an expedition with recognized technical expertise. The trio has been missing since June 1 on Artesonraju Mountain, which is reportedly one of the most demanding peaks in the Cordillera Blanca, a mountain range in the Peruvian Andes. The team's tent was found empty and there are 'signs that the group had reached the summit and that something serious had possibly happened during the descent,' according to the fundraiser, which had raised nearly $3,500 as of Friday. When her former husband and the two other climbers didn't return on June 1, Koch set up a GoFundMe at ( to provide aid to rescue teams that are searching for Edson. 'The search is in full swing,' Koch wrote. 'Rescue teams are being mobilized urgently, involving local climbers, guides, police officers, friends and family. However, high mountain rescue is extremely complex, demanding intense logistics, specific equipment, food, high altitude travel and a lot of human and technical commitment.' The money raised, Koch wrote, will cover the operational costs of the rescue and the costs of family members traveling to Peru. Lee's Summit community mourns loss of 14-year-old killed in bicycle crash
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — Heartbreak has ripped through the Lee's Summit community after 14-year-old Noah Lakey, an outgoing eighth grader at Summit Lakes Middle School, was killed while riding his bike. According to police, Lakey was riding along the sidewalk near SW Jefferson Road and SW Scherer Road when he entered the westbound lane and collided with a vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. In the wake of his death, friends of the family launched a GoFundMe, which has already raised over $20,000 in a single day.
