Marks and Spencer leads jelly shoes resurgence with £20 ballet pumps millennials will love
Jelly shoes are officially back, and Marks & Spencer is leading the resurgence with its £20 ballet flats available in three different colours As with all trends, they circle around and round of being in and out of fashion, and the latest trend to have a resurgence is jelly shoes. Much to the millennials' delight, this '90s shoe trend is officially back, and Marks & Spencer is leading the way with bright and playful styles for £20. Although jelly shoes are a bit of a controversial "ugly" shoe trend that you either love or hate, M&S ' take is a bit cooler than the ones you probably have in your head. The Jelly Slip-On Ballet Pumps retail for £19.50 and are available in vibrant red, simple white, and neutral grey/clear . They feature a round-toe and flat sole keeping them comfortable on your feet all day long. What makes them chicer than previous jelly shoes from the 90s and 00s is the woven detail, which is reminiscent of trending styles from the likes of Bottega Veneta and Zimmerman. They also combine the popular ballet flat trend with the jelly shoe material, resulting in a sleeker-looking shoe that you could dress up for more formal occasions. Considering the jelly shoes are a new drop on the site, there's only been one review, and it's filled with nothing but praise. The shopper wrote: "Jellies! Lightweight, stylish, wash them under the tap". As the review says, one of the best design features of jelly shoes is that they can be washed so easily, making them versatile for a range of things. Pack them away in your suitcase and wear them easily from the beach to an alfresco dinner. Simply dress them up with a floaty midi dress like this Linen Rich Round Neck Strappy Midi Swing Dress, £49.50, and a stylish basket bag like this Straw Basket Bag, £49.50. As there is a jelly shoe resurgence, a few other brands have laucnhed their own iteration on the trend. Topshop has some Slingback Ballet Flats available for £26 and three different colours. While Next has a baby pink pair of Jelly Ballerinas available for £18.
